ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The essential functions of the Medical Assistant position can be divided into the categories of Scribe duties and Circulator duties. During any particular patient visit, the Medical Assistant may be responsible for performing some or all of these functions, depending on the nature of the visit, the wishes of the Provider and the presence or absence of a second assistant during the patient visit.
