POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Certified Nursing Assistant provides personal hygiene for the patients of Arkansas Hospice and maintains a safe and orderly environment within the guidelines of the interdisciplinary team plan of care.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High school diploma or GED; satisfactory completion of a nursing assistant (CNA) training and competency evaluation program that complies with Arkansas Department of Health guidelines also required.
Experience: Previous experience in direct patient care in a hospital, long-term care facility, or hospice preferred.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction and ongoing supervision of the Registered Nurse, performs the following procedures, respecting the dignity, comfort, and privacy of the patient:
Bed bath/sponge bath/tub/whirlpool, and shower;
Shampoo
Skin, hair, and nail care (excluding diabetic patients)
Oral hygiene/care of the mouth/denture care
Toileting and elimination; assistance to bathroom or in using bedpan or commode
Normal range of motion and positioning
Safe transfer and ambulation techniques
Feeding and fluids; sets up meal tray and encourages fluids

Maintains accurate documentation of assignments for each patient as directed by Registered Nurse.
Establishes a relationship with the patient and family which is respectful, caring and promotes trust and confidentiality while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
Communicates effectively with members of the interdisciplinary team, patient, and family.
Recognizes and immediately reports to Registered Nurse any changes in the patient's mental or physical condition, family situation, and/or emergencies.
Properly uses equipment required for ensuring patient's safety.
Maintains a clean, safe environment while caring for the patient.

About the role
POSITION SUMMARY
MedicalAssistant provides care for the patient under the physician's direction. 1. Education: Must be accepted and enrolled in an NAACLS accredited MLT program and in first semester of technician coursework, which will award an associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Science upon successful completion.
A Medical Lab Technician Intern must commit to one year of service with Unity Health after graduation. A Medical Lab Technician Extern will have no defined commitment.
2. Training and Experience: No prior experience necessary. Previous experience as lab assistant is desirable but not required.
3. Job Knowledge: Must demonstrate a willingness to learn. Must be able to communicate effectively with all hospital personnel and present a courteous and professional manner to the public.

DESCRIPTION:
Responsible for collecting blood from patients and donors, identifying and labeling all drawn blood accurately for tests, and/or blood donations. Also responsible for accurately collecting and recording patient and donor information, monitoring patients through procedures, and storing samples as required. This position requires knowledge in the care of patients served as indicated: Neonate and infant birth up to one year, Childhood and Adolescence is one year to 17 years, Adult is 18 to 65 years, and Geriatric is 65 years and above.
Physical Effort: Walking, bending, using stairs, working with bio-hazardous material, wearing of protective material as required by OSHA.
