Incumbents will be assigned a specific home unit but may be floated to other areas for additional support when needed. Incumbents have the ability to train CNA 1 positions as well as perform the full scope of duties for a CNA 1 or 2 at BRH. Journey skills include, but are not limited to: Completing non-invasive collection and testing of physical specimens (gastroccult, hemoccult, urine dip sticks), glucose testing and reporting, suctioning the oral pharynx, removal of internal or external urinary catheters, peri-care, bladder scans, electrode placements for electrocardiograms, cardiac monitoring, telemetry, Incentive Spirometer use, etc. The CNA 1 or 2 needs to be proficient in speaking English in order to accurately and effectively communicate with patients and/or residents. Patients include those from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, socio-economic standing, education, etc. Depending on the unit in which they are working, they may be required to learn specific skills necessary to provide the best care to patients and/or residents.
