Utilize the electronic health records (EHR) system to collect and document patient histories per organizational standards. Record and monitor vital signs, perform electrocardiograms (EKGs), stress tests, ETTs, and Event/Holter monitor setup. Perform screening procedures and obtain necessary lab or imaging results consistent with provider guidelines. Prepare and administer medications, including intramuscular, intradermal, and subcutaneous injections, as directed. Process prescription refills and obtain medication authorizations as directed. Prepare patient charts, ensure pre-charting and documentation abstraction, and organize results prior to visits. Schedule patient appointments, procedures, and follow-ups, and remind patients of upcoming visits. Communicate clearly and professionally with patients, providers, and team members. Assist in completion of forms and documentation for provider review and signature. Arrange hospital admissions and coordinate laboratory services as needed. Conduct routine inspection, cleaning, and testing of clinical equipment on a weekly, monthly, or annual basis as required. Recognize and interpret cardiac rhythms on EKG and rhythm strips. Provide patient education and explain procedures within the Medical Assistant scope of practice. Ensure all physician orders are accurately entered and verified; clarify discrepancies as needed.
