This is not a “business as usual” practice administrator role. The organization requires a leader who can diagnose operational and financial issues quickly, recommend corrective action, and execute change in a complex, post-acquisition environment. The role carries broad authority and accountability for strategy, structure, performance, and sustainability of the medical group enterprise. Role Mandate (Plain Talk) This role exists to: Stabilize a financially strained medical group Identify and address underperforming service lines Improve operational efficiency and provider productivity Ensure the medical group is positioned to support the broader health system's recovery This is a fix-it role, not a caretaker role. Core Accountabilities Serve as an officer of the organization, acting as an agent of the Board in coordinating medical group administrative activities. Partner with the CEO and Board to define and execute strategic direction for the medical group. Conceptualize, recommend, and implement integrated business strategies, including: Organizational development and redesign Financial performance improvement Resource allocation (human and capital) Service line optimization and diversification Analyze medical group financial performance and recommend corrective actions to achieve sustainability and profitability. Lead development, analysis, and recommendation of medical group budgets. Conduct administrative and operational studies and prepare formal recommendations for executive leadership and the Board. Oversee personnel management, provider alignment, and leadership structure within the medical group. Maintain positive external relationships while fostering an internally innovative, accountable operating culture. Turnaround & Change Leadership Expectations Comfortable making difficult, data-driven decisions. Experience operating in environments requiring restructuring, right-sizing, or operational reset. Ability to lead through resistance while maintaining credibility with physicians and leadership. Clear communicator who can translate financial and operational realities to clinical stakeholders. This role requires judgment, backbone, and executive presence. Required Qualifications Bachelor's Degree (required). Master's Degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, or related field (preferred). Minimum 4 years of healthcare management experience. This position works in a Designated Healthcare Facility which is subject to the State of Maine's immunization requirements for healthcare workers. If hired, you will be required to show a Certificate of Immunization, or Proof of Immunity, against: 1.) Rubeola (measles); Mumps; Rubella (German measles); Varicella; Hepatitis B; and Influenza. Highlights of the position: Demonstrates compassion, collaboration, communication, and appropriate clinical judgement in patient care. Provides direct support to providers in delivering stellar patient care. Engages in pre-visit planning activities, preparing visits for the providers using medical records, Health Info Net, and other resources. Assists with billing duties, including delivering patient notes to the office, scanning, and following up with providers as appropriate. Ensures the information is accurate and complete. May perform a variety of clinical functions within scope under the direction of the provider, including but not limited to: Blood draws Administering vaccines Processing of labs Therapeutic injections Inhalation medications via nebulizer Proactively manages provider schedules while balancing schedule templates and patient preferences Strategizes within care team to effectively manage patient's care. Collaborates to improve the patient experience and clinic processes. Education and Experience Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent required. At least 2 years of clinical experience in a healthcare, nursing home, assisted living or similar setting required. Evidence of Medical Assistant training including all the essential job functions, knowledge, skills, and abilities listed here in this . Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants, or CMA- Certification by the AAMA, or RMA- Certification by the AMT, or CCMA- Certification by the NHA or prepared to certify within 60 days of hire preferred. Will have up-to-date training and certification in Healthcare Provider Basic Life Support issued by American Heart Association, American Red Cross or American Health & Safety Institute. Must obtain within 2 weeks if not current at hire. Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and/or an appropriate length of driving experience for insurance purposes is required.
