you will work directly with our patients to ensure they receive the high level of customer service and patient centered care that have made Simon Eye Associates the most trusted provider of eye care in Delaware.
What You'll Do:
Obtain patient medical history including chief complaint, history of present illness, past ocular and general history, family ocular and general history, and history of allergy and medications.
Conduct pre-testing and specialized tests for exams.
Educate patients on the insertion and removal of contact lenses.
Provide patients with proper lens wear and eye care information.
Assist patients with contact lens orders by explaining their benefits and providing cost comparison information.
Process contact lens orders including placing order, verification, preparation, dispensing, following up on late and/or back ordered lenses, and assisting patients with questions regarding their orders.
Resolve patient issues by obtaining and evaluating all relevant information, seek assistance from and coordinate with other Simon Eye departments when needed.
Communicate with providers and staff throughout daily events.
What You'll Need:
At least 2 years of experience providing exceptional customer service, preferably in a fast-paced medical environment
Medical Assistant degree preferred
High level of professionalism and self-motivation
Ability to multi-task; to work quickly and accurately while maintaining a positive patient experience
Proficiency in using computer databases including typing accuracy
Ability to work at least one evening per week and two Saturdays per month to meet patient needs

OTHER JOB DUTIES:
Manages assigned provider's schedule to ensure that we are optimizing access for our patients.
Communicates with provider about patients to be seen
Greets patients and escorts them to exam rooms
Identifies patients and confirms medical records
Schedule appointments as necessary
Registers patients and collects all information required
Prepares patients record for provider
Prepares patients for exam by collecting relevant medical history, information about visits, vital signs, and instructs patients on preparation for exam procedures
Assists provider during examination
Selects and completes all required forms for each medical screening
Guides patients through their visit
Administers vaccines and completes referrals as needed
Communicates status of the patient with other members of the healthcare team
Assures medical charts are returned
Properly disposes of soiled equipment and laundry and prepares regulated medical waste
Transports and retrieves instruments safely and prepares for sterilization
Keeps clinical area clean, orderly, and stocked with supplies
Opens and closes clinical area according to assignment
Assists Practice Manager, Head Nurse or Charge Nurse with other tasks and projects as required on an as-needed basis to meet the goals and objectives of the organization.
May require lifting/assisting patients
Position requires work with hazardous and bio-hazardous materials
Requires walking/standing for long periods of time

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or equivalent.
Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program
1 - 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting
Experience with electronic medical records preferred
MA certification required within 6 months of employment
CPR certified
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
