Summary:
Assist physicians with medical procedures in office. Responsible for phlebotomy, laboratory testing, quality control, instrument troubleshooting, and maintenance.
Primary Key Performance Areas:

Obtain all pertinent scan and CDs and prepare for physician's review.
Maintain adequate inventory of supplies. Place orders with purchasing as needed.
Initiate troubleshooting procedures when instrument malfunction occurs and contact central lab or instrument service company, if necessary.
Perform EKG testing where applicable.
Perform any and all duties required to keep laboratory in compliance with state and federal regulatory agencies. Must be able to perform compliance testing.
Must take the required number of CEUs annually to meet C.O.L.A. requirements.
Observe established safety guidelines and maintains cleanliness of the laboratory and equipment.
Comply with all Federal and State laws and regulations pertaining to patient care, patients' rights, safety, billing, and collections. Adhere to all AON and departmental policies and procedures, including IT policies and procedures and Disaster Recovery Plan. Resident Services

• Adhere to each resident's Negotiated Service Plan and notify the Wellness Director, MOD, and/or the Executive Director of any changes in resident condition.
• Answer and respond immediately to resident calls.
• Seek assistance and advice from the Executive Director or the Wellness Director immediately if you have any doubts or questions when assisting with medications or treatments before you perform the assigned task.
• Assist with serving meals and supervise caregiver staff in the dining room. Ensure that dining room is cleaned after each meal service.
• Control the spread of infection by following standard precautions. Dispose of infectious and potentially infectious waste according to residence policy and procedures.
• Establish and maintain a good relationship with residents and their families.
• Respond to resident emergencies following the proper procedures.
• Assist in developing and maintaining a schedule for the caregiver staff that sufficiently meets the needs of residents and ensures proper staffing.
• Respond to on-the-job injuries in accordance with the Oaks Senior Living policies and procedures.
• Complete 16 hours of continuing education units (CEU) biennially specific to CMA's as outlined by the Alliant GMCF Registry. In addition 16 hours of CEU's must be completed annually.
• Lead by example, encourage teamwork, and promote the Oaks Senior Living philosophy. • Provide an "open door" to employees, addressing any concerns or grievances they may have.
• Maintain CPR & First Aid certification.
Medication Administration
• Follow the six 'rights" of medication assistance (right resident, right drug, right dosage, right time, right route, right record/documentation) each and every time assistance with a medication occurs. Check each of the six "rights" of medication assistance three different times: when the medication is taken out of the medication cart, immediately before assisting with the medication, and immediately after assisting with the medication
• Administer medications to residents according to their Medication Observation Record (MOR) and protect resident privacy. Provide residents with any treatments required as part of their Resident Care Plan as designated. Document clearly and accurately on the Medication Observation Record (MOR) after a medication is taken/given, refused, held, discontinued, changed, disposed of, returned, following the Oaks Senior Livening policy.
• Respect the residents' right to refuse medication/treatment. Protect the residents' safety with medications. Explain to the resident what medication is being given and why, prior to assisting with medication.
• Observe the resident for any adverse reaction to a medication and report it to the Wellness Director and/or the Executive Director immediately. Report all medication errors honestly and immediately. Communications
• Attend all regular staff meetings and required in-service training sessions.
• Effectively communicate residents' needs with caregiver staff at change of shift according to the Oaks Senior Living policies and procedures. Must be certified through the American Medical Technologist (AMT) or American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA) or National Health career Association (NHA) or MedCA as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), or National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP). Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.

Mon-Fri; day shift
Responsible for assisting physicians with patient care, clerical, and organizational tasks. Responsible for patient flow, appointment scheduling and chart management. Provides information to patients so they may fully utilize and benefit from the clinic services.
Requirements: Must pass proficiency test. Maintain current BLS/CPR Certification.
Responsibilities:
Assist physicians with patient care, clerical, and organizational tasks.
Control patient flow in clinic.
Prepare patient charts for appointments.
Prepare patients for examinations and special procedures.
Obtain/record vital signs (height, weight, blood pressure, pulse, respiration and temperature).
Document patient care observation and activities according to professional standards and procedures.
Perform clinical duties as assigned by Provider.
Assist with patient plans of care and document care coordination and interventions while integrating quality initiative measurements.
Obtain discharge summaries from the hospital and other facilities as needed for coordination of care.
Administers immunizations and injections after reviewing immunization record, potential allergic reactions, identifies and reviews side effects and treatments. Perform venipunctures, capillary punctures, specimen collection/preparation/testing and other lab functions as requested.
Qualifications:
Ability to exercise professionalism in dealing with all levels of personnel, patients and patients' families.
Ability to communicate clearly.
Ability to learn and retain information regarding patient care procedures.
Ability to complete tasks as directed by physician and nursing staff.
Ability to deal with many tasks at one time with flexibility.
Education/ Experience:
High school graduate or equivalent required. Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant training program, Medical Assistant in the military, EMT-A or paramedic required. **An exception may be granted to individuals that have not attended an accredited training program but do have a national certification in medical assisting and (ii) a minimum of 2 years of medical assisting experience. Such exception may only occur following a thorough evaluation of the individual's experience; training/education; skills and qualifications, (ii) a determination by the Director of Nursing that such individual has the requisite skills and knowledge to perform as a Medical Assistant.
