As a Medical Scribe at MBI Health Services, LLC, you will capture essential clinical information during visits, including patient histories, assessments, diagnoses, and treatment plans. Your work directly supports high quality behavioral health and primary care services across Washington, DC. MBI currently has two Part Time Medical Scribe positions available: Medical Scribe Position 1 (Fully On-site) * Schedule per week: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday * 8 hours per day * 24 hours per week Medical Scribe Position 2 (Hybrid) * Rotating evening schedule (5:00 PM to 10:00 PM) * Week 1: Monday through Saturday * Week 2: Monday * Week 3: Monday through Friday * Week 4: Monday * Approximately 30 to 35 hours per pay period This is an excellent opportunity for recent graduates or students pursuing healthcare careers who want hands on clinical experience while strengthening documentation and medical terminology skills. Responsibilities * Accurately and thoroughly document patient visits and procedures in real time, including medical history, physical exams, assessments, and treatment plans, as dictated by the provider. * Transcribe physician-dictated diagnoses, prescriptions, and instructions for patients or caregivers regarding follow-up and self-care. * Identify and correct inconsistencies or potential errors in documentation to support accuracy and reduce clinical risk. * Record all relevant clinical data, lab results, and physician interpretations into the electronic health record or designated systems. * Ensure compliance with medical documentation standards, legal guidelines, and patient confidentiality requirements (e.g., HIPAA). * Collect and organize data for quality improvement programs such as the Physician Quality Reporting System (PQRS) and assist in preparing submissions. * Support systems for tracking patient follow-up, treatment compliance, and care coordination. * Review and edit medical documents for clarity, grammar, spelling, and accuracy prior to provider sign-off. * Assist in the development and management of provider schedules. * Perform administrative and clerical tasks, including making phone calls, organizing documentation, and supporting clinical staff as needed. * Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications * Associate's degree or higher, or a minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical, health services, or related office setting * Certification as a Medical Scribe Professional (preferred) * Medical coding training or certification (preferred) * Experience with Credible or other electronic health record (EHR) systems * Strong typing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including spelling, punctuation, and grammar * Ability to listen to and accurately summarize complex medical information in a clear, concise, and professional manner * Familiarity with medical terminology, diagnostic procedures, pharmacology, and treatment assessments sufficient to transcribe medical documentation * Strong English composition skills, with the ability to produce high-quality, polished documentation efficiently * Must be available to work during physician hours, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends as needed * Ability to travel regularly to multiple clinical sites * Clear and legible handwriting (for applicable documentation) * Ability to learn and navigate electronic medical record and transcription software systems * Ability to travel to assigned locations as designated * Ability to lift and move objects up to 30 pounds (e.g., supplies, files, equipment) * Ability to operate office equipment requiring repetitive hand/arm movements * Ability to sit for extended periods of time Additional Information MBI provides equal employment opportunities to all employees and applicants for employment and prohibits discrimination and harassment of any type without regard to race, color, religion, age, sex, national origin, disability status, genetics, protected veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by federal, state or local laws.
