Responsibilities + Perform blood draws, label specimens, centrifuge specimens, and record maintenance data. + Decontaminate and update patient information. + Collect and store specimens according to established procedures. + Explain the process of venipuncture and other specimen collections clearly and courteously. + Demonstrate techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles. + Understand and execute all physicians' orders. + Match laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes. + Label, centrifuge, split, and freeze specimens as required by test order. + Ensure all test requisitions or computer labels match scripts accurately. + Package specimens for transport and store them at the required temperature. + Place samples in appropriate collection containers/tubes and accurately label them. + Follow procedures specific to protocol to maintain specimen integrity during transport. + Understand and comply with OSHA and DEP regulations. + Attend annual department trainings. + Answer telephone calls and provide laboratory results to satisfy inquiries. Essential Skills + Minimum of 2+ years of recent phlebotomy experience in clinical environment + Proficiency in phlebotomy and venipuncture. + Experience in blood draw and specimen processing. + Strong customer service skills.
