Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Medical Biller to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the billing process, ensuring accurate and timely submission of claims, follow up on unpaid and denied claims, submitting either corrected claims or appeals on denials or adjusting claims that are unpayable while maintaining excellent communication with insurance companies and patients. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to efficient revenue cycle management and support high-quality patient care.

Job Specific Position Duties: The duties include, but are not limited to the following:

The MedicalAssistant performs a combination of administrative and clinical tasks within our clinic. The MedicalAssistant works alongside other medical staff under the clinical supervision of a physician or Mid-Level Provider and administrative supervision of the Clinic Manager and ultimately the Director of Operations. MedicalAssistants perform a range of clerical and clinical tasks that help maintain organization and keep the clinic running efficiently. The Medical Office Assistant is responsible for managing the flow of patients into and out of the clinic; they must maintain daily knowledge of provider delays, insurance eligibility and authorizations, provider scheduling preferences, and communicate these to patients to maintain an appropriate daily patient flow; will greet patients, activate patient files. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Pre-visit preparation, including historical medical records and lab, imaging, and test results. Performing data entry tasks to document patient records within clinic databases and maintaining patient files.

Assists patients with timely check-in, check-out, co-pay collection, registration, collect demographic information and other essential tasks
Preferred Education and Experience

Provide compassionate quality care to the patients of DAP Health, within the scope of practice outlined by state or federal law Deliver care in accordance with established standard of care and accepted community standards Understand the organization's commitment to provide high quality patient care and promote a patient centered environment MedicalAssistants are responsible for knowing their scope of practice Prepare charts, perform pre-visit planning, and participate in daily care team huddle Obtain consents from patients for minor procedures Ensure patient safety Receive patients, takes and records chief complaint and prepares patient for examination; records blood pressure, pulse, respirations, pulse oximetry, height and weight Prepare patients for examinations or procedures including positioning, draping, shaving and disinfecting treatment sites Assist the provider in the collection of specimens such as pap smears and throat cultures Explain to the patient the procedures followed in an examination, a diagnostic test or treatment at the request of clinic personnel Collect specimens, take EKGs, collect blood samples as requested by clinic personnel; assist the physician with examination, treatments, minor surgery, dressing changes and splinting Perform simple laboratory procedures such as blood sugars and urine dips Review patients record forms for accuracy and completion Sterilize instruments and assume maintenance of diagnostic and therapeutic equipment. Dispose of contaminated, disposable, and outdated items per protocol Perform necessary vision screening and operates the oximeter, audiometer, nebulizer, and spirometer as directed Assist with the patient flow during clinic hours Prepare and replenish supplies in the treatment room and exam rooms; maintain exam rooms in an orderly and constant state of readiness for incoming patients Check equipment to ensure proper functioning Administer medications orally, topically, vaginally, rectally, subcutaneously, intramuscularly, intradermal Demonstrate an understanding of and adhere to safety and infection control policies and procedures Demonstrate an understanding of and adheres to privacy, confidentiality, and security policies and procedures related to Protected Health Information (PHI) or other sensitive and personal information Show sensitivity to differences in culture; demonstrate a positive and supportive manner in which patients/families/colleagues perceive interactions as positive and supportive Maintain positive working relationship with all DAP Health Medical Clinic staff to ensure the continuity of care to all patients Complete all paperwork in a timely and efficient manner Access patient-protected health information as required Request and retrieve client files as needed Route documents as required in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) System Answer telephones and relays messages accurately and expeditiously Interface effectively in a team environment with agency staff and volunteers Handle crisis and stressful situations in an effective, calm, and respectful manner Perform other duties as assigned
Required Skills/Abilities
* Excellent communication skills - both verbal and written
* Excellent customer service skills
* Proficient in the utilization of an electronic medical record system preferred
* Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite preferred
* Bilingual in Spanish preferred
Education and Experience
* Medicalassistant certificate or signed training on venipuncture, infectious control, patient privacy, basic anatomy and physiology by Registered Nurse or Physician
* One year's work experience MedicalAssistant in a medical office preferred
* Graduation from an approved MedicalAssistant program
* Current BLS certification obtained through the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
* National or CAMedicalAssistant Certification, preferred
* Experience with the EPIC EHR system preferred
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements
* This position is on-site at a DAP Clinic Location
* Ability to lift 24 pounds
* Operates in a clinical setting at times and requires frequent times of sitting, standing, walking, repetitive motion and talking
* Available for all shifts and, when required, able to work evenings and weekends
* Requires current and valid driver's license and current personal auto insurance as well as reliable transportation
* Able to travel to DAP Health locations throughout San Diego and the Coachella Valley to provide staffing support and off-site trainings/meetings
* Involves contact with patients or patient specimens. Exposure to blood, body fluids, and non-intact skin or tissue specimens is required
* Handling of biohazardous materials required
