Part Time Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner Independent Contractor position rounding at Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNF) on patients undergoing PT, OT, ST. Will need to monitor patients? progress towards their rehab goals and assist facility with certain metrics involving their skilled therapy patients.
Looking for providers in both Sacramento/Stockton Area.
Each patient will need 3 visits a week per facility. 1 of those visits will need to be during business hours on a weekday with close collaboration with the certain staff at each SNF. The other 1-2 visits are typically follow up visits with a very flexible schedule (can be evenings, weekends etc)
Experience in inpatient rehab, pain management, orthopedics, and/or neurology preferred.
Position is very flexible; outside of the first visit, provider can round just about any time including evenings and weekends. There is a scribe service that will perform all documentation as well.
However the position also requires flexibility as well. Weekend availability is required and it will be necessary to drive to all facilities, some of which are closer than others. It will also be necessary to cover other PA?s/NP?s when they are periodically away. During this time volume may be higher.
Job requires:
-Excellent communication
-Willingness to learn rehab as well as how to assist the snf with metrics. There will be a learning curve at first. Training is all done remotely.

-MS office/Google Drive proficiency
-Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner License/Certification

The medical scribe annotates any dictated or written information for the treatment of patient following all local, state, and federal guidelines for documentation into the electronic health record (EHR). The medical or specialist scribe will be responsible for clearly recording each patient's symptoms, history, physical exam, and documenting the diagnosis as well as treatment plans. The medical scribe is not a direct patient care role.
This positions requires working at different clinic locations in Marin County (San Rafael, Larkspur and Greenbrae), clinics are within close driving distance of each other.
Work schedule: Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm, evening shifts of 11:00am to 8:00pm and Saturday shifts with advanced notice.
Responsibilities
Scribe-Specific Tasks and Duties:
* The primary role of the scribe is to assist the provider with documentation of each patient's clearly recording each patient's symptoms, history, physical exam, and documenting the diagnosis as well as treatment plans in the medical record during a clinic visit.
* At the start of the visits scribes checks the "document scribed" checkbox on the intake template at the top center.
* Accompanies the clinician into the patient examination area, or joins the appointment remotely by telephone, in order to transcribe a history and physical examination as given by the patient and provider.
* Under the direction of the provider, transcribes and places patient orders, including laboratory tests, radiology tests, referrals, etc.
* Documents any procedures performed by the provider or nurses in the EHR.
* Transcribes any consultation or discussions with family and/or the provider.
* Completes the patient's chart by transcribing results of any labs, x-rays, or other evaluations. In doing so, the scribe continuously checks on the progress of this data in order to get the patient's workup complete so that the provider is able to make his/her decisions regarding that patient.
* Scribe lists all proper diagnoses as well as any follow up instructions and prescriptions, as dictated by the provider.
* Scribe does not directly assist with patient care. The scribe documents orders generated by the provider.
* Scribe assists the provider and support staff with paperwork, telephone calls, faxing, and chart abstraction and may facilitate communication among the care team.
* Scribe is able to process portal communications and either task to appropriate member of the care team or get information from the provider to respond to the patient in a timely way.
The Medical Scribe does not perform the following:
* Medications: A scribe cannot prescribe medications. Scribes cannot stop, start, or make any manipulation to any medications in the "medication module".
* Orders: A scribe cannot order any in-house medications that are injected, ingested, or inhaled into the body including nebulizer treatments.
* Document Sign Off: The provider should always review the record and attest to its correctness and completeness. At the end of the day or shift, the provider should review the scribed documentation to ensure all events were recorded accurately. The provider generates the document, creating the completed "Master IM." The scribe does not.
* Patient Care: The scribe is not directly involved with patient care; can't touch the patient; can't handle bodily fluids; can't act independently without direct clinical oversight; conduct other duties while acting as the medical scribe; however, he/she may be asked to give patient paperwork during visit or discuss discharge instructions with a patient. The scribe can't give orders to Registered Nurses. They interact with patients on a limited level. For exceptions to this section, please see the "Optional Trainable Skills" section below.
* General Documentation: A scribe cannot document any of his/her personal objective findings or be involved in any of the medical decision-making. A scribe cannot act independently; instead, he/she must simply document the provider's dictation and or/activities during the visit.
* Optional Trainable Skills:
* With the permission of medical/operational leadership and participation in an in-house training/competency program, a Scribe can be trained to perform vitals, room patients.

1. Additional Days Off with Pay. As stipulated in the appropriate bargaining agreements and board resolutions, Classified employees working full year (260 days/year) work schedules are granted, as paid days off, the days between Christmas and New Year's Day, as well as an additional five (5) paid days off during spring break. The MedicalAssistant works with a multi-disciplinary provider team in the delivery of general primary care medical services in a community healthcare setting. Under the general supervision of the Clinic Manager, the MA is responsible for patient intake and flow, administering injections, phlebotomy, processing laboratory specimens and performing laboratory tests, maintaining the patients' medical charts in the Electronic Health Record, and assistingmedical providers.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Prepare exam rooms before and after each examination according to clinic infection control procedures in a timely manner.
Assist in patient flow management by timely rooming clients, maintaining awareness of exam room availability and timing.
Take and record vital signs in the Electronic Health Record.
Interact with clients in a respectful manner and maintain professional boundaries.
Perform intake, record medical histories and perform client assessment including any initial assessments.
Record client's chief complaint.
Prepare clients for practitioner visit by exposing area to be examined.
Perform EKG, audiometry and other tests, as necessary.

Competencies:
Phlebotomy Certification is required regardless of number of years of experience.
Minimum 2 years of MedicalAssistant experience required.
High School graduate or GED recipient.
Two years' experience in a community clinic or medical office setting is preferred.
Registration with the American Medical Technicians Association or certified by the American Association of MedicalAssistants preferred.
Knowledge of medical terminology.
Ability to perform phlebotomy, EKG and audiogram tests.
Familiarity with or willingness to learn Electronic Health Records.
Experience working with Microsoft Office software.
Proficiency in speaking, reading and writing English.
Ability to prioritize competing work demands and tasks from clients and staff.

The Role
As a MedicalAssistant at Sonoma State University's Student Health Center (SHC), you'll be a vital member of a close-knit, skilled, and collaborative medical team that values excellence, dependability, empathy, inclusion, teamwork, and overall well-being. Reporting to the Associate Director of the SHC and the Lead Physician, and working under the supervision of licensed clinicians, you will provide both clinical and administrative support that enhances the health and success of our students. Salary and Benefits
This is a full-time, non-exempt probationary position scheduled to work 11 months each year. The compensation for the 11 months of work will be paid out over 12 months with the month of July observed off. Starting salary placement depends on qualifications and experience and will not exceed $51,036 (Step 7) annually.
In accordance with the California State University 11/12 pay plan, the salary earned for months worked will ultimately be pro-rated to an 11/12 salary schedule and paid over 12 months in equal increments, with benefits covered for the entire 12 months. Under the 11/12 schedule, the salary placement will not exceed $3,531 - $3,899 per month, paid over 12 months with continuous benefits eligibility. Should the starting date not coincide with a standard 11/12 pay plan cycle, the employee will start at an equivalent full time 12-month salary rate with the month of July off unpaid and be converted to the 11/12 rate in August 2026 with benefits covered for the entire 12 months moving forward.
This position is eligible for a broad range of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurances, retirement (CalPERS), tuition waiver, vacation and sick leave. In addition, 15 paid holidays are offered each year. Sonoma State University is also a Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program (PSLF) Employer.
