*Duties and Responsibilities*
The duties include, but are not limited to:
* Assist professional nursing staff by providing direct patient care. Prepares charts, takes temperature, pulse, performs screenings, blood pressure and respiration and other duties as assigned.
* Assist physicians by maintaining practice workflow, organizing exam rooms, maintaining, and ordering supplies, screening patient requests and other duties as assigned such as blood draws, POC testing as directed by Provider.
* Follows instructions closely and reports observations and symptoms indicative of the patient's reactions to treatments and patient complaints.
* Responsible for workflow in practice to ensure timely appointments and decreased wait-times to see Provider.
* Assist in scheduling accurate initial evaluations, follow up appointments and cancellations.
* Initiates all appointment reminder calls in a professional and courteous manner, projecting appropriate language and tone of voice.
* Demonstrates effective oral, listening, and written communication skills that facilitate positive customer relationships and staff interaction in the delivery of care.
* Prioritizes duties and responsibilities and completes them accurately and in a timely fashion.
* Maintains confidentiality and demonstrates responsible judgment by updating knowledge, referring problems through appropriate channels, and observing the policies and procedures.
* Obtain and enter patient history, chief complaint, and update the medication list into the electronic medical record.
* Maintains compliance with legal requirements, HIPAA, OSHA, and company policies.
* Assisting with other office duties including answering phones, faxing, filing, etc.
* Keeps supplies ready by inventorying stock, placing orders, verifying receipt, sorting, and storing.
* Restocking exam/procedure rooms.
* Maintains safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations

Responsibilities and Duties:
After the patient signs in at the front desk the Medical Assistant greets the patient and escorts them in for office visits with the physician or nurse practitioner and lab work.
Transports patients safely using appropriate equipment such as wheelchairs.
Obtains patient vital signs, height and weight. Documents the information by entering it into the electronic medical record.
Ensures that exam rooms and physician offices are stocked with medical supplies, equipment and the appropriate paperwork.
Set-up for bone marrow biopsies, lumbar punctures and any other surgical and non-surgical procedures ordered for the patient.
Lab Specimen Collection:
After receiving and reviewing laboratory orders, obtain blood specimens.
Obtain blood specimens for analysis by finger stick or venipuncture depending on the specific test ordered. Identify the patient by having the patient state their first and last name and date of birth and compare it to the RCCA ID number.
Review all specimens for acceptability.
Instructs patients in the proper collection of twenty-four-hour urines. Verifies that the containers contain the proper preservative and instruct the patient in refrigeration or acid precautions if appropriate.
Lab Quality Control:
Investigate all out-of-range results and document the corrective action taken.
Laboratory Testing:
After assuring satisfactory QC and instrument function, perform CBC on the Hematology Analyzer. Review all results for acceptability, critical results, or clinically significant changes. Report critical values or significant changes to the physician. Maintain documentation of all results, or of any corrective action taken.
Process Bone Marrow biopsy specimens for transport to the appropriate reference laboratory for analysis.
Process all specimens for outside lab testing. Refer to manual for instructions.

Record Keeping:

The scribe performs medical record documentation and clerical duties to increase provider effectiveness, efficiency, and productivity for improved patient flow and satisfaction.

Shift Need
7:00 AM - 5:00 PM: At least 3 weekdays per week (Monday through Friday)

Essential duties include:
Preparing and assembling medical record documentation/charts to support healthcare providers
Entering the patient room with the physician during patient visit to capture and transcribe medical record documentation utilizing electronic medical record applications
Thoroughly updating all components of the patient's medical record at the direction of the physician
At the direction of the physician, updates all components of the patient's medical record including subjective and objective information, physical exam, and any other pertinent clinical information
Preparing and sending all documentation to physician for review and approval via authentication of detailed data entry and facility-specific procedures
Collaborating with healthcare staff to efficiently monitor basic lab results and screening procedures
Monitor duration of lab test and follow up as necessary
Ensure accurate documentation in patient record
Supporting compliance with hospital and ProScribe policies
Understand and maintain HIPAA regulations
Understand and maintain Joint Commission standards
Understand applicable policies for assigned site
Understand ProScribe policies as related to specific role
Demonstrating professionalism through adherence to ProScribe's attendance policies at assigned facility
Attendance responsibilities may vary based on provider preferences and EMR specifics
Performing other clerical duties and tasks to improve provider productivity and clinic workflow as assigned
Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required
Must be 18+ years old and authorized to work in the US
Successful completion of a background check and drug screen
Ability to obtain proof of vaccinations as required by specific site
Typing speed 45+ WPM
Ability to fluently read, write, and understand English
Part-time: Available to work 16-24 hours per week for a minimum of 6 consecutive months
Full-time: Available to work 32+ hours per week for a minimum of 12 consecutive months
Ability to work shifts ranging from 8 to 12 hours
Ability to understand HIPAA regulations and appropriately maintain confidential patient and client information
