Stocking & cleaning examining rooms & treatment rooms at the beginning and end of clinic and as needed throughout the day. Clean exam rooms and make sure they are prepared for the next patient. Placing patients in exam rooms, including assisting with wheelchair and cart transfers. Vital signs: Temperature, blood pressure, respiration, pulse, weight and height on all patients. Orthostatic vital signs and pulse oximetry, when appropriate. Document in EMR. Obtaining or updating allergy and medication list. Document in EMR. Injections as needed. Perform EKG's. Phlebotomy including blood cultures. Instructing patients on UA/C&S and Hemoccult collection. Processing of molecular testing, occult cards and urine dips. Basic use of the blood analyzer, coagulation instrument, glucometer. Including running of CBC's/INR's/glucose, start-up, shut down and QA procedures, as well as troubleshooting. Perform calibration and linearity and proficiency testing as assigned by lab manager. Use of Reference Lab: (a) Should be able to look up which tubes are needed for testing and test codes; (b) Will be responsible for making sure all patients and tests are entered correctly into computer; (c) Keeping all equipment for reference lab stocked; and (d) Retrieving results from reference labs. Assist physicians with all procedures. Stocking patient refrigerator and refreshment area and keeping it clean, as directed by site-supervisor. The MA will have a main office for which they will usually be working; however, he/she must be flexible enough to work at all locations as needed and have reliable transportation. Comply with the OSHA regulations Participate in the NWOH safety program Attend all mandatory trainings & complete quizzes as assigned. Report hazards Suggest controls Report occupational illnesses and injuries Laboratory responsibilities as follows: Follow all laboratory procedures for specimen collection and processing.
