Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for receiving and checking-in materials returned by patrons into the KLAS circulation system. This includes but is not limited to shipments of Talking Book machines, Talking Book and Braille cartridges, and mail received from the Library of Congress and patrons utilizing the service.
Responsible for downloading books and magazines to cartridges, packaging and labeling of all types of circulating items and correspondence sent by the Illinois State Library.
Responsible for shelving all types and formats of library materials, verifying that materials are arranged correctly on each shelf, shifting large quantities of library materials according to multiple library classification systems. Participates in any special projects concerning the stacks or department.
Retrieves materials from various stack areas using multiple library classification systems that have been requested.

A Staff Office Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) / Medical Assistant (MA) or LPN works under the general supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) / Physician Practitioner, performs various patient care activities and related non-professional services necessary in caring for the personal needs and comfort of the patients. Assists in the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, diagnosing, planning, implementation, and evaluation with consideration of the aging process, human development stages and cultural diversity. Assists in the care and preparation of clinic/procedural patients in various clinic settings, minor treatment area. Collaborates with other professional disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Supports and promotes an environment conducive with the Mission, Vision, and Values of the hospital.
Delivers safe, high quality patient care.
Promotes a therapeutic relationship with patients and families.
Coordinates care of the clinic patients, including scheduling of patients for procedures.
Assists with preauthorization of procedures as needed.
Collects and documents pertinent health data using appropriate assessment techniques using a systematic and ongoing process utilizing interventions appropriated for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.

Makes clinical decisions and sets priorities related to workload management based on clinical knowledge and individual patient needs.

Provides teaching material to patients and significant others pertinent to their situation and documents in the clinic record.
Assist with outpatient office procedures and follow-up care.
Prepares minor treatment area as required for specific procedures.
Assist with washing and decontamination of all instruments.
Cleans and prepares instruments for sterilization, as needed.
Utilizes ongoing assessment data and notifies physician/surgeon of changes in patient's condition in a timely and appropriate manner.
Check and maintain appropriate inventory for pharmacy and central supply items.
Maintain confidentiality of all patients, hospital, or physician related information.
Maintain orderly condition of assigned work area.
Is knowledgeable of general hospital and department specific policies and procedures.
Follow-up phone calls to patients.
Liaison fielding patient calls/questions.
Other duties may be assigned and are subject to change with or without prior notice.

Requirements:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
Graduate of accredited Medical Assistant program (applicable for Medical Assistant).
Graduate of accredited LPN program
Ability to pass specific competencies for this position, preferred.
Proficient oral and written communication.
1 year office experience preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Medical Assistant certification preferred.
Maintain LPN Licensure
CPR certification or willing to obtain withing 30 days of employment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing and walking.
Required to climb, balance, stoop, and kneel.
Required to use arms, hands, and fingers for repetitive grasping, pulling, and pushing and feeling.
Frequently lift and/or move up to 25 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Any workload exceeding 50 pounds will require assistance.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Assists with various aspects of diagnostic testing including obtaining and/or preparing specimens, labeling/recording, and communicating results. Performs miscellaneous CLIA-waived testing. May perform EKG's/rhythm strips, spirometry, pulse oximetry, nebulizers, as well as other testing outlined by the provider.
Complies with all clinic policies and procedures including, but not limited to blood borne pathogens, chemical safety, laboratory, administrative, and corporate compliance. Applies the Minimum Necessary Standard when accessing protected health information.
Assists in the clinic financial performance in ways which may include, depending on setting: careful use of resources including supplies, equipment, and time; assisting in the collection of upfront copays; ensuring that patients present for check-out; noting when contact or insurance information does not appear current or correct; following policy related to bad debt situations. Obtains appropriate insurance referrals and pre-certifications.
