Become the Maintenance Mechanic you always wanted to be
Safely and effectively test and operate emergency power supply system (EPSS) and its components.
nstall/maintain/repair mechanical, electrical, HVAC, pneumatic, oxygen, and telephone systems.
Work independently in the specified time frame as assigned per job task under the direction of the supervisor.
Retain auto, carpentry, phone, pneumatics, stationary engineer, hydraulics, and computer skills.
Plan, interpret, examine, draw, and record work; report daily completion to supervisor.
Perform all types of control maintenance, building construction and repair, and equipment overhaul within required time frame.
Maintain a working knowledge of all facility systems and all applicable regulatory standards.
Qualifications
Licensing in a specialty field such as electrical, plumbing, or HVAC is preferred.
Valid driver's license may be required.
High school diploma or equivalent work experience preferred.
Previous experience in preventative maintenance, equipment repair, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and/or construction required. Healthcare experience is a plus.
May be required to work weekdays and/or weekends, evenings and/or night shifts if needed.
Ability to lift, lower, push, pull, and retrieve objects weighing a minimum of 50 pounds.
Must demonstrate the ability to tolerate frequent position changes such as twisting, stooping, reaching, squatting, kneeling, pushing/pulling, and bending positions for complete shift.
Ability to work on ladders and scaffolds and be able to sit, stand, and walk for momentary to extended periods of time.
Ability to safely work with hazardous materials.

What you will do
Work alongside a registered nurse in an assistive role

Shadow and learn directly from a nurse preceptor in various areas in the hospital
Participate in educational activities designed to reinforce learning in the clinical practice environment

Position Highlights and Benefits
After successful completion of the 8-week summer program, the SNI may be able to continue their employment within Trinity Health Of New England in a per diem position through their final year of nursing school as a PNA (Professional Nursing Assistant). They will be assigned to a nurse mentor who continues to guide their learning and contributions within the clinical practice environment. The PNAs will meet as a cohort to participate in learning and sharing of experiences.
PNAs in good standing will be invited to apply for the 2026 Nurse Residency Program. Our Vizient Nurse Residency Program is designed to support and help new graduate nurses as they transition into professional practice. The program offers 12 months of structured support for newly licensed registered nurses. Our hope and expectation are all eligible SNIs will secure a position in the residency program prior to completing their final year of nursing studies.
Work Hours/Shift: Candidates must be able to commit to the following timeline & milestones:
Week 1:
Orientation
Weeks 2 - 8:
Scheduled for three 12-hour clinical shifts per week
Will be expected to work some night shifts
Will be expected to work every third weekend
Participate in educational activities as scheduled
Weeks 9 - 50:
Work a minimum of one 12-hour shift per 8-week period (total of 5 shifts in 40 weeks) as a Professional Nursing Assistant (PNA)
Your hours will be scheduled with your Nurse Manager and aligned with your assigned preceptor, which may include:

Job Responsibilities
Supervise the day to day operations of the Histology department
Ensure laboratory tests are accurately performed and results are reported in a timely manner
Directly supervise, train, and mentor laboratory personnel of the department
Monitor daily workflow in the lab and schedule adequate assay coverage
Responsible for ensuring all shifts in the department are properly staffed
Research and resolve any production errors while escalating when necessary

Ensure all equipment is being properly maintained through Quality Control
Prepare and maintain Quality Assurance records and documents
Evaluate new process improvements and make appropriate recommendations
Meet regularly with direct reports to provide coaching and feedback for their development

Responsible for administering and managing policies and procedures

Requirements
Associate's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or a non-traditional Associate's degree that meets local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements - Bachelor's degree is preferred
Minimum 5 years of experience as a Histotechnologist or Histotechnician
Previous supervisor/leadership experience is highly preferred
Histology and/or ASCP certifications are preferred
Strong working knowledge of CLIA, CAP and relevant state regulations
Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
Proficient with Laboratory Information Systems and Microsoft Office
Strong communication skills; both written and verbal
High level of attention to detail with strong organizational skills
Comfortability making decisions in a changing environment
Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position

Veterinary Assistants play an essential role in supporting the ECC team by providing compassionate patient care, assisting with medical procedures, and maintaining a clean and organized hospital environment. In this role, Veterinary Assistants work closely with technicians and doctors to support treatments, procedures, and client communication while also handling daily responsibilities such as patient husbandry, feeding, cleaning, and stocking. Each Veterinary Assistant level has defined skills that may be performed once successfully signed off, ensuring a structured path for professional development and advancement through Levels 1-3.
This position requires flexibility, teamwork, and strong communication skills, as responsibilities range from patient handling and basic laboratory work to assisting with surgical preparation and client interactions. POSITION RESPONSBILITIES

Support veterinary technicians in both ER and ICU as needed.
