In August 1926, the Bowling Green City Hospital opened its doors as a city-sponsored non-profit hospital.
History and MissionSince 1926, Med Center Health has served the residents of Southcentral Kentucky with compassion, quality and innovation.
In 1951, the hospital became jointly owned and operated by the City and County and assumed the name Bowling Green-Warren County Hospital.
A private, non-profit corporation, the Bowling Green-Warren County Community Hospital Corporation, was formed in May 1977 to operate the then existing hospital and to construct a new hospital.
In 1978, the decision was made to construct a new, state-of-the-art medical facility to better serve the growing community.
On March 8, 1980, The Medical Center at Bowling Green opened and began serving more than 10 counties in Southcentral Kentucky as a regional medical center.
In 1984, corporate reorganization was completed, and Commonwealth Health Corporation, a non-profit holding company, was formed.
Med Center Health Foundation was formed in 2000 for the purpose of serving as the philanthropic arm of Med Center Health.
In 2016, the brand name Med Center Health was created.
In FY 2021, Med Center Health provided over $100 million in community benefit, including 11.6 million in financial assistance.
