Medical data analyst job description

The Medication Utilization and Formulary Data Analyst is responsible for supporting Medication Utilization Strategy (MUS) and the University of Virginia (UVA) Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) committee to ensure safe, effective, and value-based medication use at UVA. Strong skills in data analytics, database management, and SQL will be beneficial. Prior experience in pharmacy or health systems preferred but not required.
Create and maintain a database of P&T Committee actions and prepares routine and ad-hoc reports Design, implement, and maintain reporting tools for cost savings and quality improvement initiatives to support operational and clinical pharmacy initiatives to improve the medication use process, enhance safety, and reduce costs Develop and maintain reports and dashboards related to drug shortage management, purchasing history, and utilization trends to mitigate drug shortages Evaluates opportunities for inventory optimization including pricing and contract opportunities, expiring medication review, and par optimization across the pharmacy enterprise (inpatient, clinics, infusion, etc.) Builds and maintains electronic tracking and tools for non-formulary requests and refrigerator temperature excursions Respond to data requests in a timely and professional manner Other duties as assigned
Position Compensation Range: $24.72 - $39.55 Hourly

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Business, Finance, IT or related field required
Experience: Experience: 3 years relevant experience performing data analysis, extraction and systems interface, or 3 years relevant experience in pharmacy data analysis
Licensure: None required

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs.

UNM Medical Group, Inc. is hiring for a Medical Coding Analyst II to join our Coding Department. This opportunity is a REMOTE, full-time and day shift opening located in New Mexico.

* This is a work from home position that requires the selected candidate to have a permanent address and live in New Mexico or be willing to relocate to New Mexico*

Responsible for coding Inpatient/Outpatient charges and specialty services using appropriate ICD and CPT classification systems for the purpose of reimbursement, research and compliance in accordance with federal regulation. Charges include all Inpatient/Outpatient visits, Day Surgeries, consultations and observation accounts. Specialty services include Interventional Radiology, GI Lab, Pathology, Cardiac Cath Lab, Vascular Lab, Orthopedics, Surgical and Anesthesia procedures. Responsible for review of documentation in medical records to assure that documentation by providers conforms to compliance and legal requirements. Provide feedback for practitioners on coding practices. Coder must meet department productivity and quality standards. Ensure adherence to policies and procedures and guidelines.
* Sign-On Bonus: $1,000*

Minimum Job Requirements or a Medical Coding Analyst I:

High School diploma or GED and 6 months directly related experience or successful completion of UNMMG Medical Coding Internship Program. Certification in at least one of the following: RHIT, RHIA, RCC, CIRCC, CSS, CCA, CCS-P, COC, CIC, CPC, CPC-P or CPC-A. Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.

High School diploma or GED and 2 years directly related experience. Certification in at least one of the following: RCC, CPC, CIRCC, CPC-P, CCS, CCS-P, COC, CIC, RHIA, or RHIT. Verification of education and licensure (if applicable) will be required if selected for hire.

Duties and Responsibilities

* Reviews and analyzes medical records in order to assign appropriate CPT and ICD-10 codes for inpatient and outpatient consultations, procedures, anesthesia, inpatient visits, and office visits for new or established patients.
* Analyzes as well as resolution of coding edits that occur.
* Identifies and reviews documentation in an EMR environment to ensure that all required signatures and addendums are present in the medical record(s).
* Interaction and feedback to providers, when necessary, regarding medical documentation deficiencies or to request clarification of documentation components.
* Ensures strict confidentiality of medical records and documentation.
* Follows established departmental policies, procedures and objectives.
* Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

In collaboration with the Educational

Measurement Unit and GME teams, you will provide support for the

planning and implementation of all GME evaluations and surveys, including the

design, deployment, and analysis of current and new instruments. You will provide measurement expertise to training program leadership in consideration

of the ACGME requirements and milestones. You will also provide training SUPPORT

for program staff on use of the MedHub residency management system for creating

evaluations, reports and other functions relevant to ensuring the validity of

data.

As our GME Data Analyst, you must have the

ability to work independently and with a team; ability to build, analyze,

synthesize, interpret and report on complex psychometric instruments across a

variety of settings and stakeholders (e.g., Dean, GME Committee, program and

departmental leadership); collaborate with other offices to obtain information

and data needed for evaluation and quality improvement functions. You also must possess excellent communication and presentation skills, as effective

communication and trust development with faculty, staff, and trainees at DGSOM

and affiliate training sites is integral to driving data-informed change.

Qualifications

+ Ability to conduct data analysis and survey research in an applied setting.

+ Proficiency in writing, editing, and proofreading to produce reports and data analysis, and to compose and edit information and correspondence.

+ Skill in establishing, building and maintaining positive and cooperative working relationships with project stakeholders and colleagues, including diverse body of students, staff, faculty, and community members.

+ A Bachelor's degree in data science, psychology, higher education, policy analysis, analytics, statistics, or related fields strongly preferred

+ Training and experience in statistical research methods and data analysis.

+ Experience preparing and presenting data insights and making data-driven recommendations to senior leadership that will drive institutional change; skill in presenting information to large and small, technical and non-technical audiences.

+ Ability to work with a high degree of autonomy, organize multifaceted projects and develop accurate timelines for completion, and to work effectively with conflicting demands and changing priorities. Skill in managing complex tasks with occasional interruptions and distractions. Ability to work with incomplete information.

+ Experience in using R, SPSS, or another statistical software, for descriptive and inferential statistics.

+ Advanced technical literacy in the Microsoft environment, including Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

+ Experience with data visualization

+ Advanced knowledge and experience using Tableau or other software for data visualization and reporting.

+ Aptitude for story-telling and creative display and presentation of data.

+ Subject matter expertise in ACGME institutional and common program requirements.

+ Experience with MedHub or other residency management software platforms for report creation
