PHYSICIAN/MEDICAL DIRECTOR (M.D. / D.O.) POSITION SUMMARY
The Staff Physician works under supervision of the Site Medical Director with broad latitude for independent judgment and initiative and is an integral part of the medical team at their facility. The Staff Physician is expected to take a leading role in the delivery of health care services to our patients.
PHYSICIAN/MEDICAL DIRECTOR (M.D. / D.O.) MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Must be a licensed Physician in state of employment.
Current DEA registration.
Board certified and qualified by state laws/regulations to practice medicine.
PHYSICIAN/MEDICAL DIRECTOR (M.D. / D.O.) ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Ensures Medical Record documentation is in SOAP format, problem oriented and corresponds to the therapeutic order.
Ensures all documentation is timed, legible, and signed.
Ensures all verbal or telephone orders are countersigned within seventy-two (72) hours.
Adheres to approved formulary for therapeutic regimens before utili
Documents pertinent observations and logical conclusions to validate need for non-formulary medication on non-formulary request form for Medical Director's approval when non-formulary medication is ordered.
Utilizes available in-house resource personnel for treatment and resolution of identified problems before utili
Provides emergency treatment on-site and responds appropriately in urgent or emergency situations.
Demonstrates proper technique for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and related drug therapy.
Supports standards of medical care through adherence to existing policies and procedures.
Serves as a resource to other professional or non-professional personnel providing instructions as needed.
Attends medical staff meetings as required. Provides monthly in-service education of staff as requested.
Participates in monthly review of quality care and chart reviews as requested.
Sponsors Physician Assistants as required.
Notifies Site Medical Director and/or Site Health Services Administrator of schedule changes.
Assists in the arrangement for coverage of medical services if unavailable for extended period of time.
Other duties as requested by the Site Medical Director.

This person utilizes College and Foundation-related goals and objectives to establish direction for fundraising. This person is responsible for planning and implementing a fundraising program, which emphasizes individual prospect development, on-going donor relationships and donor management, annual giving, grants, and long-term acquisition of gifts. The employee provides major organizational structure to fundraising programs. Occasionally, this employee will be asked to write grant proposals.
Works with the College President and with the Foundation Board to identify and implement fundraising programs, which are supportive of the College and the Foundation.
Develops and maintains the alumni database. Designs projects, which facilitate alumni organization and development of giving. Maintains and balances, on a monthly basis, all funds for external scholarships. Works with the Financial Aid Office to see that all scholarships are quickly and efficiently placed on students accounts.
Maintains and balances all Booster club accounts and oversees that the funds in these accounts are expended according to the donor's directives.
Creates and maintains community awareness of College fund raising and Foundation programs. Works with the marketing team in the development of marketing materials for fundraising and the Foundation. Works with the Public Information Officer to write and submit news releases on a regular basis. Maintains involvement with community organizations and interacts with the media.
Operates the donor and prospective donor computerized management system, including development of reports from that system relative to current and prospective donor information. Assures that all prospects are part of the donor database.
Represents the College and the Foundation in public settings.
Develops and maintains a system for building relationships with potential donors.
Writes grant proposals when required.
Maintains an inventory of all assigned equipment and supplies; Serves as a resource person to the community by answering specific inquiries, locating information and performing other related tasks.
Master's Degree in business administration, finance, accounting or a closely related field.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
The physician serves as medical director for skilled nursing facilities (SNF) and participates in administrative and quality initiatives for the facilities he or she is responsible for;
Medical directorship functions include attending and participating in monthly quality assurance and process improvement meetings; participating in quality improvement initiatives; providing guidance to facility staff; reviewing and revising (if necessary) facility's clinical guidelines; insuring compliance with state and federal regulations, training facility staff; and supervising facility clinical staff.

The Medical Director may speak with contracted external physicians, physician groups, facilities, or community groups to support regional market care facilitation and priorities, which may include an understanding of Humana processes, as well as a focus on collaborative business relationships, value-based care, population health, or disease or care management.

The Medical Director provides medical interpretation and determinations whether services provided by other healthcare professionals are in agreement with national guidelines, CMS requirements, Humana policies, clinical standards, and (in some cases) contracts. The ideal candidate supports and collaborates with other team members, other departments, Humana colleagues and the Regional VP Health Services. After completion of mentored training, daily work is performed with minimal direction. Enjoys working in a structured environment with expectations for consistency in thinking and authorship. Exercises independence in meeting departmental expectations and meets compliance timelines.
**Required Qualifications**
+ MD or DO degree.
+ 5+ years of direct clinical patient care experience post residency or fellowship, which preferably includes some experience in an inpatient environment and/or related to care of a Medicare type population (disabled or >65 years of age).
+ Current and ongoing Board Certification in an approved ABMS Medical Specialty as well as ABQAURP, or other boarddemonstratingadvanced training in transitions of care, quality assurance,utilizationmanagementand care coordination.
+ A current and unrestricted license in at least onejurisdictionand willing to obtainadditionallicense, ifrequired.
+ No currentsanctionfrom Federal or State Governmental organizations, and able to pass credentialing requirements.
+ Excellent organizational,verbaland written communication skills.
+ Evidence of analytic and interpretation skills, with prior experienceparticipatingin teams focusing on transitions of care, quality management,utilizationmanagement, case management, discharge planning and/or home health or post-acute services such as inpatient rehabilitation.
**Preferred Qualifications**
+ Knowledge of the managed care industry including Medicare Advantage, Managed Medicaid and/or Commercial products, or other medical management organizations, hospitals/ Integrated Delivery Systems, health insurance, other healthcare providers, clinical group practice management.
+ Utilizationmanagement experience in a medical management review organization, such as Medicare Advantage,managed Medicaid, or Commercial health insurance.
+ Experience with national guidelines such as MCG or InterQual.
+ Internal Medicine, Family Practice, Geriatrics, Hospitalist, Emergency Medicine clinical specialists
+ Advanceddegreesuch as an MBA, MHA, MPH
+ Exposure to value-based care, Public Health, Population Health, analytics, and use of business metrics.
+ Experience working with Casemanagersor Caremanagerson complex case management, including familiarity with social determinants of health.
+ The curiosity to learn, the flexibility toadaptand the courage to innovate.
**Additional Information**
Will report to the Director of Physician Strategy at Utilization Management. The Medical Director conducts Utilization review of the care received by members in an assigned region, market, member population, or condition type. May also engage in grievance and appeals reviews. May participate on project teams or organizational committees.
Travel: While this is a remote position, occasional travel to Humana's offices for training or meetings may be required.

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting.
