This position will play a pivotal role in providing clinical leadership working closely with operations and business development. The Market Medical Director will oversee medical operations, drive quality improvement initiatives and foster collaborative relationships with healthcare providers and community partners. Position would require direct patient care and administrative duties. Clinical Leadership: Provide clinical guidance and expertise to support the delivery of high-quality patient care. Collaborate with healthcare providers to ensure adherence to clinical protocols and best practices. Promote a culture of patient safety, clinical excellence, and continuous quality improvement. Quality Improvement: Lead quality improvement initiatives to optimize clinical processes and outcomes. Analyze clinical data and performance metrics to identify areas for improvement. Provider Engagement: Foster collaborative relationships with healthcare providers, medical staff, and allied health professionals. The group staffs multiple outpatient facilities, all within a short drive of the hospital. In-house OB. The pediatric population is healthy, and the laboring patients are generally low risk. The surgical staff is facile with the two da Vinci robots onsite, taking the next step in laparoscopic surgery. Same-day surgery cases for additional positions that dilute the call burden. Case mix includes orthopedics, general surgery, gynecological surgery, urology, ENT, and labor & delivery. No trauma, no cardiac, and no neurosurgery. No pressure to publish. There are no take back hearts or strokes for clot retrieval. Minor trauma (i.e., ground level falls) and while there are emergencies, they tend to be urgent, not emergent. Position Overview The Medical Director (MD) is responsible for providing strong leadership for the hospital, managing and mentoring associate veterinarians, and assuring regulatory compliance relating to the practice of veterinary medicine. Address urgent, chronic, and preventive medical needs on an ongoing basis. * Obtain appropriate consults when problems presented are outside the scope of practice or when unfamiliar with a particular aspect of the client's care. * Facilitate transfer of care to other clinicians when religious or personal beliefs interfere with the clinician's ability to offer full care options. * Provide health education to Center clients and their families and answer questions, and work closely with other clinic staff to recruit and retain the appropriate care managers that provide these services; expand and grow the overall provision of appropriate education and information, including follow-up, for patients. * Provide patient-centered, compassionate, culturally sensitive care that addresses the full scope of patients' health needs. * Maintain overall efficiency of care delivery standards at or above the practice goal in order to sustain fiscal viability while maintaining high quality medical care as well as to demonstrate for the rest of the medical staff that the practice goal is reasonable and attainable with the support provided by the non-medical staff. * Answer messages and sign off on clinical reports (consults, lab, x-rays, etc.) in a timely manner. * Complete medical records in a timely manner on a daily basis with an appropriate level of documentation to support clinical care, coding and billing, compliance, and risk management. * Complete and submit all billing in an agreed upon timely manner. * Attend continuing education programs and provide evidence of necessary education completion to upgrade medical skills and maintain licensing requirements. Requirements Experience * At least three years of recent experience in outpatient primary care practice. * Experience in a FQHC setting preferred. * Previous management or leadership experience. Education and Licensing Requirements * Meet and maintain all criteria for EHC's Physician Credentialing/Privileges, including the following: * Completion of a M.D. or D.O. degree from an U.S. accredited medical school, school of osteopathy medicine, or FMG with ECFMG or Fifth pathway certification, with completion of a US accredited residency program in Pediatrics, OR * Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program * Current Board Certification in Pediatrics. * Current, valid and unrestricted State of California medical licensure. * Unrestricted ability to obtain Medicare, Medi-Cal, and other payor credentialing. * Current BLS certification. * PALS certification desirable.
