The RN - Assistant Director of Nursing assists the Director of Nursing (DON) in planning, organizing, developing, and directing the overall operation of the Nursing Services department to ensure the highest degree of quality patient care in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations, and Life Care standards.
Education, Experience, and Licensure Requirements
ASN or BSN from accredited college or university
Currently licensed/registered in applicable State. Must maintain an active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing throughout employment.
Two (2) years' geriatric nursing experience preferred, preferably in post-acute care
CPR certification upon hire or obtain during orientation. CPR certification must remain current during employment.
Specific Job Requirements
Maintains a liaison with patients, families, support departments, etc. to adequately plan for patient needs
Expert knowledge in field of practice
Make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
Knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post-acute care facility
Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department
Perform proficiently in all competency areas including but not limited to: nursing care, supervisory responsibilities,, infection control, patient rights, and safety and sanitation
Maintains professional working relationships with all associates, vendors, etc.
Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
Understand and follow company policies including harassment and compliance procedures
Displays integrity and professionalism by adhering to Life Care's
Code of Conduct
and completes mandatory

and other appropriate compliance training
Essential Functions
Assist the DON in planning, developing, implementing, evaluating and directing the Nursing Services department
Interview, select, hire, train, evaluate, and supervise nursing staff
Assist with overseeing care provided by nursing staff
Oversee infection control responsibilities
Assume the duties of the DON in his or her absence
Provide direct nursing care as necessary
Perform functions of a staff nurse as required
Exhibit excellent customer service and a positive attitude towards patients
Assist in the evacuation of patients
Demonstrate dependable, regular attendance
Concentrate and use reasoning skills and good judgment
Communicate and function productively on an interdisciplinary team

The Medical Director is responsible for providing direct and indirect basic medical care to meet the physiological and emotional needs of the patients and ensuring quality care is provided to protect the rights, dignity, and health of our unique patient population. Responsibilities may include and not be limited to:
Conducting rounds in the medical and infirmary units
Performing sick call visits, and managing chronic care
Responding to and initiating care for medical emergencies
Leading efforts to evaluate the quality and effectiveness of healthcare services
Coordinating, leading and participating in educational and training activities
May supervise Staff Physicians and other medical staff
Ensuring compliance with State and Federal mandates and regulations, including court mandates and standards
Collaborating on with other medical professionals to ensure staff are responsive to patients' needs
Qualifications
Education / Licenses / Certifications
Medical degree (MD or DO)
Valid license as a physician in the state where the facility is located
Must possess and be able to maintain BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; AHA or American Red Cross, preferred
Possess a current DEA registration
Currently certified in a Board recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties
Experience / Requirements / Qualifications / Skills
Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Experience in general medicine, a strong knowledge of current medical principles and practices, and the ability to manage and direct medical team
Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
Able to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information
Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
Physical Capabilities:
Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.

I started this practice after having a daughter that was born with a rare deafblind syndrome and being thrown into thousands of hours of PT for her. At a year old, she was still infantile from a gross ambulatory perspective, but finally walked at age 4.5. By then, I had fallen in love with the profession, our PTs had become like family to us, and I couldn't be more grateful for how those skills changed our life. She is now 9, we are still in physical therapy working on bigger and better things (cartwheels on the way)! Because I am not a PT myself though, just the heart for it wasn't enough; so I partnered with FYZICAL to give me the know-how. As a result, FYZICAL Rockrimmon is a neat blend of truly locally and family-owned, yet backed up by big company resources.
We have been successful in a short time because I get to do the business and the administrative side that I enjoy, and my team gets to focus on what they do best, caring for our patients. We make decisions as a team, and I wouldn't have it any other way. My leadership philosophy is, what is best for the patient, is best for the business. We believe in creating a culture of fun, hard work, and making each other better. We admit mistakes and give grace, and encourage employee autonomy by not relying on micromanagement, but through each person communicating their own wants and needs. Document all company notes, reports and summaries
Manage overall flow of the clinic, KPIs, and staff
Ensure smooth and timely patient flow
Confer regularly with the owner to discuss clinic performance
Assign and supervise the Physical Therapist's/ PTA's patient care activities
Assign and supervise the Physical Therapist's/PTA's non-patient care activities
Determine necessary PT based on prescriptions/referrals/patient condition/records
After reviewing patient records, strategize, create and carry out treatment plans
Track and report treatment progress; adjust as necessary
Oversee all assistant, technician and student job assignments/activities
Give lectures; provide PT and related training for in-house staff and outside groups
Provide analytics and organizational oversight for the facility (payroll, filing, requisitions, etc.)
Keep timely documentation including but not limited to daily notes, weekly reports, initial evaluations, discharge summaries
Assure patients are treated promptly in accordance with their scheduled appointments
Delegate appropriate patient care activities to the PT/PTA in accordance with skill level and deemed appropriate by the State Practice Act
Supervision of all PT/PTA activities including the delegation and supervision of non-patient care activities of the Rehab Tech
Review physician's referral (prescription), and patient's condition/medical records to determine physical therapy treatment required
Plan, prepare and administer treatment program based on evaluation of patient data
Evaluate and record effects of treatment at various stages and adjust treatments to achieve maximum benefit
Orient, instruct and direct work activities of staff physical therapists assistants, techs and students
Plan and conduct lectures and training programs on physical therapy and related topics for medical staff, students and community groups
Analyze and organize the clinic's operations/procedures including payroll prep, information management, filing systems, requisition of supplies
Required Skills
Must possess a master's or doctorate in PT
Current state licensing and all other state-required documentation
Basic computer skills
