Academic rank and line will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The successful candidate will lead the PACT program at Lucile Packard Children's Hospital (LPCH), with responsibilities for clinical care, teaching, and academic program development in the fields of heart failure and heart transplantation including ventricular assist devices. The PACT program provides comprehensive care to children with all stages of heart failure. The candidate will join a nationally recognized group of 8 pediatric cardiologists who provide clinical care and perform research within a multidisciplinary cardiovascular program, The Betty Irene Moore Children's Heart Center, at LPCH. The Betty Irene Moore Children's Heart Center performs approximately 600 surgical cases annually and treats a highly complex mix of patients, also with outstanding outcomes. Extensive opportunities exist for prospective clinical and translational research through collaborations with outstanding investigators in the School of Medicine (Departments of Pediatrics, Medicine, Radiology and Health Research and Policy), School of Engineering, the Stanford Program in Bio-X, and the Stanford Cardiovascular Institute. The PACT program routinely interacts with and co-manages patients with multiple other well-established sub-specialty groups within cardiology including single ventricle, pulmonary hypertension, and electrophysiology. Responsibilities Administrative Responsibilities: * Supervise, mentor, and coach all medical clinicians including physicians, advanced practice providers, and other licensed providers at the assigned clinical site to support the provision of excellent care and the ongoing professional development and sustainability of providers. * Ensure adherence by providers to MCC's policies, procedures, clinical and operational workflows, and accepted standards of care and leads annual performance reviews for site medical providers. * Ensure that medical providers at the site are practicing within the scope of their specialty and within the bounds of their credentials and privileges and that Advanced Practice Providers (NP, PA, CNM, etc.) at the site have required oversight and supervision. * Partner with the Site Clinic Manager to develop and implement strategic priorities, operational goals, and staffing models that optimize patient access, efficiency, and care quality at the site. * Lead the implementation of a comprehensive clinical quality, risk management and safety program at the site level, including analysis and response to all clinical incidents and complaints, clinical quality assessments and clinical performance tracking. * Monitor and ensure the competency and professional conduct of all medical providers at the site by implementing the components of the MCC Provider Credentialing and Privileging and Peer Review Policies and Procedures for providers at the clinical site. * Partner with the CMO and other senior leadership to ensure providers at the site remain compliant with the training, documentation, billing and practice requirements of HRSA, FTCA, CMS, the Joint Commission and other federal, state, and accrediting agencies.Serve as the primary contact for all clinical matters at the site and represent the clinical site at internal leadership meetings and committees, and meetings with community-based partners. * Collaborate with and support the Site Clinic Manager, Nurse Supervisor(s) and other clinical operations leaders to ensure that operations workflows contribute to efficient, high-quality, patient-centered care at the site. * Collaborate with operational leadership on site budget priorities, equipment needs, and service-line modifications to best care for the patient population served by the site. * Lead regular provider and clinical staff meetings at the site, focused on clinical education, policy and procedure updates, compliance training and quality improvement/risk reduction initiatives. * · Foster effective communication and collaboration among clinical and operational staff. Clinical Responsibilities: * Provides high quality, evidence-based comprehensive outpatient primary care for an assigned patient panel consistent with their specialty training (e.g. Pediatrics, Internal Medicine, Family Medicine) and privileging. * Conducts routine preventive care, acute and urgent care, and care for the management of chronic health conditions. * Provides consultation to advance practice practitioners working at the clinic consistent with their medical specialty. * Participates in quality management and peer review activities as assigned by the Medical Director. * Participates in the direction and development of health care services provided by Marin Community Clinics as a member of the primary health care team. * In addition to regularly scheduled shifts, must be able to work a minimum of three (3) 4-hour Saturday shifts per calendar year, providing medical care to patients within the standard scope of practice. * Other duties as assigned by supervising Medical Director. Qualifications Education and Experience: * M.D. or D.O. from an accredited medical school; current California medical license and DEA certificate required. * Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Pediatrics * Minimum of 3 years of experience providing primary care in a family or community health setting. * At least 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting (FQHC experience preferred). What You'll Do The Sr. Medical Director, Drug Safety, is responsible for the overall risk management and safety strategy of assigned products, including both internal and external engagement with key collaborators. * Oversight and understanding of all aspects of the assigned product's safety profile from clinical development to post-approval safety surveillance, including management of CROs and other partners that provide clinical and safety data * Chair of the Safety Management Committee for designated product(s), responsible for identifying any emerging safety trends, defining the safety profile, and recommending safety actions based upon cumulative safety data * In collaboration with the regulatory and clinical development team, establish the safety strategy for marketing authorization applications, including the preparation of CTD documents, engagement with regulatory authorities, and authoring responses to inquiries Responsibilities * Support the clinical development team in the review of key documents, including protocol and ICFs * Manage the drug safety contract service organizations (CROs) for clinical programs to ensure compliance with expedited reporting, manage on-time and scientifically sound DSUR preparation, and ensure the drug safety functions of the CROs meet corporate goals and key performance indicators * Assist in the medical review of adverse event reports; manage preparation and submission of drug safety expedited reporting in compliance with regulations, when necessary * Develop and prepare assessments of safety data, safety signals, and benefit/risk for internal senior management as well as external partner or regulatory authorities * Assist in the authoring of aggregate reports Where You'll Work This a U.S-based remote role that will generally require three visits per year, or as needed visits to our San Francisco Office Who You Are * Medical Degree * 10 years of drug safety and pharmacovigilance experience (clinical trials safety experience in the biotechnology, pharmaceutical, drug safety contract service organization (CSO)) preferred * Experience with all aspects of safety signal evaluation, including review and analysis of data, collaboration with cross-functional team members and senior management, authoring of required regulatory correspondence, and safety label updates. * Experience in both clinical development and post-marketing safety * Experience with Regulatory submissions for NDAs, EU MAAs, and other countries' Regulatory reviews Rewarding Those Who Make the Mission Possible We have high expectations for our team members.
