Essential Job Duties * Provides behavioral health oversight and clinical leadership for health plan and/or market specific utilization management and care management behavioral health programs and chemical dependency services - working closely with regional medical directors to standardize behavioral health utilization management policies and procedures to improve quality outcomes and decrease costs. * Facilitates behavioral health-related regional medical necessity reviews and cross coverage. * Standardizes behavioral health-related utilization management, quality, and financial goals across all lines of businesses. * Responds to behavioral health-related requests for proposal (RFP) sections and reviews behavioral health portions of state contracts. * Assists behavioral health medical director lead trainers in the development of enterprise-wide education on psychiatric diagnoses and treatment. * Provides second level behavioral health clinical reviews, peer reviews and appeals. * Supports behavioral health committees for quality compliance. * Implements behavioral health specific clinical practice guidelines and medical necessity review criteria. * Tracks all clinical programs for behavioral health quality compliance with National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). * Assists with the recruitment and orientation of new psychiatric medical directors. * Ensures all behavioral health programs and policies are in line with industry standards and best practices. * Assists with new program implementation and supports for health plan in-source behavioral health services. Required Qualifications * At least 3 of relevant experience, including 2 years of medical practice experience in psychiatry/behavioral health, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. * Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO). License must be active and unrestricted in state of practice. * Board Certification in Psychiatry. * Working knowledge of applicable national, state, and local laws and regulatory requirements affecting medical and clinical staff. * Ability to work cross-collaboratively within a highly matrixed organization. * Strong organizational and time-management skills. * Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. * Attention to detail- available to work PST zone. * Critical-thinking and active listening skills. * Decision-making and problem-solving skills. * Strong verbal and written communication skills. * Microsoft Office suite/applicable software program(s) proficiency, and ability to learn new programs. Preferred Qualifications * Experience with utilization/quality program management. * Managed care experience. * Peer review experience. * Certified Professional in Healthcare Management (CPHM), Certified Professional in Health Care Quality (CPHQ), Commission for Case Manager Certification (CCMC), Case Management Society of America (CMSA) or other health care or management certification.     Jointly reporting to the University Hospital Chief Medical Officer and the President of UUMAS, the Associate Chief Medical Officer for Ambulatory Services serves as a member of the hospital and faculty practice plan leadership team and is responsible for the management of Ambulatory operations, to include clinical practice operations, medical affairs, quality and reporting programs and issues. The Associate Chief Medical Officer for Ambulatory Services will help improve and coordinate ambulatory operational efficiency, direct ambulatory strategy and healthcare system transformation for provider-based clinics. They will also be available to collaborate and support in private clinics as appropriate. The Associate Chief Medical Officer for Ambulatory Services will work in a matrixed Ambulatory leadership model with nurse and administrative leaders who will be responsible collectively for driving strategy and operations across ambulatory services. The Ambulatory Leadership Team will be jointly accountable to the Clinical Officer Leadership Team (COLT) and the President of UUMAS. The Associate Chief Medical Officer for Ambulatory Services will be responsible for the operational success of the hospital provider-based ambulatory practices and is charged to lead focused initiatives to assure efficient operations to create and support exceptional patient service, faculty and staff satisfaction, growth and volume management, and financial performance. The Associate Chief Medical Officer for Ambulatory Services is also responsible for partnering with the Chief Quality Officer to monitor quality assurance and to drive quality improvement across ambulatory clinics. The main areas of focus are operational efficiency to improve patient access and achievement of quality measures for required monitoring and reporting. The Associate Chief Medical Officer for Ambulatory Services is expected to spend about 25% effort engaged in ambulatory practice relating to her/his specialty. This position is based in our outpatient wound care clinic and is exclusively dedicated to procedural wound care. PRN shifts will depend on current provider availability/PTO. In general, Our standard work hours are daytime hours averaging around 40 hours per week. There are no night shifts, on-call responsibilities, holiday hours, or weekend hours. All patients are seen by appointment only; walk-ins are not accepted. This is a procedure-oriented environment primarily serving geriatric patients. The successful candidate must be Board Certified/Board Eligible in their core specialty and possess a strong procedural background with recent experience. Experience with minor procedures such as suturing and incision and drainage (I&D) is required, and procedural case logs will be requested as part of the credentialing process. Wound Care and Hyperbaric Oxygen (HBO) Therapy training are available. A full clinical team will be in place from the start date. Scope of Practice Highlights: Full Team support includes Case Manager, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Nurses, Office Manager, and Front/Back End Support.
