    Dane Street is expanding our physician panel! This is a telework opportunity for supplemental income for physicians providing a caseload customized to your schedule. Our physician panel is comprised of independent contract reviewers (1099) compensated on a per-case basis. The ideal candidates will hold an OH license and be Board Certified in Neurology, with experience in completing Independent Medical Exams. Independent Medical Exam must be completed within 50 miles of Columbus, OH. Requirements As Physician Reviewer/Advisor, you will utilize clinical expertise and reviews insurance appeals, and prospective and retrospective claims. The Physician Reviewer will provide an interpretation of the medical necessity of services provided by other healthcare professionals in compliance with client specific policies, nationally recognized evidence-based guidelines, and standards of care. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Reviews all medical records and addresses each question posed by the client utilizing client specific criteria or other nationally recognized evidence-based criteria Ensures that the rationale for the determination is clear, concise, and contains adequate supporting documentation to substantiate the decision Identifies, critiques, and utilizes current criteria and resources such as national, state, and professional association guidelines and peer-reviewed literature that support sound and objective decision-making and rationales in reviews; refrains from using case studies, cohorts, and the like to make decisions due to their limited sample sizes Provides copies of any criteria utilized in a review with the report in a timely manner Returns cases on or before the due date and time Makes telephone calls as mandated by the state and/or client specifics Maintains proper credentialing and state licenses and any special certifications or requirements necessary to perform the job Attends all required orientation and training Performs other duties as assigned including identifying and responding to quality assurance issues, complaints, regulatory issues, depositions, court appearances, or audits Board certification required, active practice required PLEASE BE AWARE: In the interest of the security of all parties, Dane Street will never conduct interviews via text or request checks from candidates for any reason including the purchase of equipment. OHSU uses a combination of self-insurance and commercial insurance to fund risk of loss. Risk manages over 30 lines of insurance as well as a captive insurance company. Claims are managed internally by experienced claims managers. Function/Duties of Position Insurance Program Management Ensure insurance policies and all supporting documents are maintained; analyze existing policies for coverage and exclusions; anticipate and prepare for policy expirations. Plan timelines for completion of Property/Casualty and other applications. Work with insurance team to prepare specs for submission to markets. Participate in negotiating policy provisions with insurance carriers and brokers. Gather and analyze underwriting data, including loss data; assist in making underwriting recommendations; assist in developing underwriting guidelines; review and analyze loss control reports, prepares statistical data to support the continuation or reduction of premiums paid and reserves. What You Will Do: * Gathers information about the patient's medications from family or directly from the patient in the Emergency Room or inpatient settings. * Compiles a complete list of patient's medications, including name, dosage, frequency, route and compliance history, OTC, and herbal supplements. * Collects information on patient's drug allergies and reactions. * Communicates with physician offices, retail pharmacies, or other sources to verify medications as needed. * Compares medication list to indications and medical history if available. * Identify medication discrepancies and facilitate correction or escalation to pharmacists for follow-up, if needed. Minimum Qualifications: * Education: High school graduation or equivalent * Licensure / Certification: Approved Pharmacy Technician Certification and active registration as a Certified Tech with Ohio State Board of Pharmacy or active Pharmacy Intern License * Experience: 1-3 years of outpatient pharmacy experience preferred. * Demonstrates familiarity with drug names and indications, at hire or within ninety days of hire * Strong leadership and problem-solving skills * Project management experience/Team project management experience * Effective Communication Skills * Willingness to meet and work one-on-one with patients.
