**Job Summary and Qualifications**
As a Medical Laboratory Scientist at our facility you will be an integral part of our Laboratory team. We are a highly functioning team that supports many different departments and has a passion for providing the best patient care through compassionate, professional interactions and reliable testing. In this role:
+ You will be responsible for receiving blood specimens, performing blood tests, and studying the morphology of the components of blood.
+ You will perform various routine or special clinical laboratory tests in one or more sections of the Laboratory using automated equipment, manual testing, and microscopic analysis to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
+ You will be responsible for maintaining and using various equipment in the Laboratory including automated, chemistry analyzers, ion-specific electrodes, osmometers, and other analyzers.
+ You will perform antibody screening, antibody identification, and cross-matching procedures required in the administration of blood/blood components and identify antibodies in donors or patient's blood that could react adversely during transfusion.
+ You will notify nursing units and/or physicians of critical lab values.
+ You will implement new testing methods, products, and instrumentation as appropriate to keep department current with technology.
Qualifications:
+ Graduate of an accredited Medical Technology program (Associate's degree acceptable) and/or a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology with appropriate certification (may be hired prior to graduation upon completion of required course work for graduation).
+ Nationally recognized certification as a Medical Technologist (MT/MLS or MLT) from the American Society for Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent.
+ This licensure must be completed within 1 year of hire.
+ One year of experience working in a hospital or other clinical laboratory setting is preferred; new graduates will be considered.
+ American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.

Summary of Duties of the Medication Technician

In compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), assists qualified donors in completing the screening process. The screening procedures includes but are not limited to: assessing the self-administered health history, answering basic medical questions associated with the donation process, referring donors to medical staff when appropriate and performing health screening procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, temperature. Performs finger stick to obtain sample to obtain donor's hematocrit and total protein levels.
Upon completion of the appropriate training, may educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma. This includes explaining the screening process, the health screening tests performed, the appointment system, donation fees, center policies, proper nutrition and any other information pertinent to the donor. Ensure that all donor questions are answered timely, accurately and professionally.
May be involved in registering applicant and transfer donors based upon completion of appropriate training and operational needs of the center.

CLINICAL LAB SCIENTIST / MED TECH Nampa, Idaho Sign-on Bonus Available for Night Shifts PURPOSE: Performs tests related to the diagnosis and treatment of patient by utilizing various medical laboratory procedures in the Clinical Laboratory.
Correlates and integrates other patient data when interpreting test results. Uses professional judgment and has an in-depth knowledge of laboratory techniques, scientific principles, quality control, and instrument maintenance. Recognizes problems, identifies causes, and determines alternative methods and solutions.
REQUIREMENTS:
* Bachelor's Degree Required.
* Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS), Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) or equivalent certification by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) required or registry eligible and obtained within 1 year of hire date.
WHAT YOU WILL DO:
* Performs, records and reviews scheduled QC. Takes immediate corrective action when QC data is outside established limits.
* Performs and records routine maintenance of equipment. Recognizes and documents poor instrument performance and takes appropriate action independently.
* Verifies specimen labeling, integrity and suitability before performing testing.
* Accurately performs low, medium and high complexity testing procedures according to established protocols and regulatory requirements.
* Reports test results accurately and appropriately. Reports critical test results to physician, nursing station or physician office according to established protocol.
* Performs phlebotomy when needed according to laboratory policies and procedures. Monitors supply inventory and take appropriate action to ensure that needed supplies are readily available.
* Reviews work performed by clinical laboratory assistants. Performs corrective actions if required. Performs expected tasks without direction of supervisor.
* Ensures accuracy of work being reported by assigned department. Examines review lists, pending logs and the like. Resolves problems immediately and communicates with oncoming shift, nurses/physicians as appropriate.

Job Duties/Responsibilities:
* Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
* Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures

* Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving
* Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls

Requirements
* Bachelor's Degree in a life science or laboratory science/Medical Technology
* Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience is required OR a MLS degree
* ASCP certification is preferred
* Ability to work independently and within a team environment
* Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
* High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
* Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
* Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs

• At least one year of hands-on experience as a technician, mechanic, or in a skilled trade environment.
• Demonstrated ability to service, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Familiarity with fluid power systems, electrical systems, and engine/powertrain controls (ECMs).
