Job Responsibilities
Receive and sort clinical lab specimens
Prepare specimens for testing and analysis
Scan and/or data entry of specimen and patient information
Ensure all lab equipment is working properly and perform minor instrumentation maintenance
Troubleshoot any specimen related issues
Replenish test bench supplies as needed
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
Complete record logs and other administrative duties as requested
Follow all Standard Operating Procedures to ensure safety and quality standards
Job Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent
Previous medical/lab or production experience is preferred
Comfortability with handling biological specimens
Ability to accurately identify specimens
Basic computer knowledge and data entry skills

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible to provide comprehensive health services to DOS, DOD, and contractor personnel stationed in Iraq. The MLT performs lab tests and procedures, mostly comprising of microscopic, bacteriological, hematologic, immunologic, and chemical diagnostic analyses on samples of tissue, blood, urine, stool, synovial fluid and semen. Collect and process biological specimens for laboratory testing.

JOB DUTIES
* MLT Student Support Specialist will work closely with the MLT faculty to support students in the instructional setting.
* Responsible for lab session preparation, implementing lab simulations, and providing services that contribute to student learning and student retention.
* Ability to collaborate with faculty in identifying needs and developing and implementing creative laboratory and simulation learning environments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Work with MLT Faculty to setup each MLT course's hands-on lab exercises.
* In collaboration with faculty, review and update laboratory Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) manuals and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
* Maintain inventory of supplies and assist with ordering.
* Act as the point person for troubleshooting technical issues surrounding lab/simulation equipment.
* Meet with MLT student's one on one and/or in-group sessions to reinforce course content.
* Assist students in the development good test-taking strategies.
* Mentor students on career and academic advancement as a competent medical laboratory technician.
* Assist in preparing materials for accreditation reports, as needed.
* Other duties may be assigned.

The position requires flexible availability, including days, evenings, and weekends.
The position is part time, with hours varying between 8 - 24 hours per week.
