Work Schedule: 3, 10-hour shifts (9:00pm - 7:30am) with weekend and holiday rotations.
The Medical Laboratory Scientist exhibits the certified expertise required to perform complex services, procedures, and related tasks in the clinical laboratory, including in the areas of molecular diagnostics and flow cytometry, while under the direction of a Laboratory Supervisor or Manager.
The MLS will perform a variety of analytical procedures and specimen testing of moderate to high complexity, properly utilizing methodologies and instruments in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures and in compliance with regulatory agency requirements. The MLS may oversee some procedures being handled by Medical Laboratory Technicians, as needed.
Performs a variety of analytical procedures of moderate to high complexity in all areas of the laboratory as assigned, using manual and automated methods, and through a variety of clinical laboratory methodologies. In this function, must be able to independently perform all required calibration, quality control, statistical calculations and other process control and mathematical functions. Must also be able to understand concepts such as linearity, and standard deviation, as it applies to the performance of analytical testing in a clinical laboratory.
Additional responsibilities in Microbiology (if assigned):
Perform culture set-up, Gram stain preparation and interpretation, incubation, and examination to accurately and appropriate apply clinical and technical judgement.
Conduct bacterial identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing from appropriate specimen types, ensuring accurate interpretation of clinical significance (normal flora vs pathogens) and compliance with quality and safety standards.
Perform molecular diagnostic assays (e.g., PCR) and rapid antigen testing, including specimen preparation, test set-up, result interpretation, and timely result reporting.
Develops and validates various complex tests for implementation in all sections of the laboratory. Collaborates in the writing and review of policies and standard operating procedures and completes proficiency testing.
Orders, accessions, statuses, and reports the results of tests performed on patient specimens, monitoring a variety of critical clinical issues, such as patient identifiers, specimen quality, order appropriateness, etc. In this function, must be able to read and understand a variety of written material such as specimen requisitions, worksheets, patient identification, specimen requirements, etc., whether performing this task manually (e.g., on paper) or using an information system. Must be able to check and verify information such as patient identification, lot numbers, expiration dates, etc., and act appropriately. Monitors pending logs regularly to provide rapid turnaround time.
Operates, calibrates, and performs troubleshooting and maintenance on laboratory equipment following established procedures, and as assigned by supervisor. Responsible for staying informed about section changes, procedure changes and updates, etc. Reviews questions about procedures with section supervisor or designee as needed, informing supervisor when confusion about instructions or procedures exists.
Handles supply and inventory issues as required/assigned, identifying key technical parameters, such as lot numbers, storage requirements, etc. as required for performance of laboratory procedures. Follows laboratory section inventory procedures (e.g., recording date received, condition when received, checking order forms, invoices, etc.) Retrieves supplies and equipment from storage areas as needed. Notifies the section leader to place orders to avoid inventory deficiencies.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Lab program or Science related program is required.
Minimum of 6 months experience required. Experience can include clinical practicum time as a student.
Nationally/Internationally recognized certification as a Medical Technologist or equivalent (ASCP, AAB or AMT) is required.

Job Summary:
Under direct supervision, the extern participates in a three month rotation, in each applied clinical area to train, analyze, interpret, and validate Laboratory procedures of various complexities on biological material such as blood, body fluids, and tissues for Virtua customers. Performs reviews and documents all quality control according to established policies and procedures. Performs pre-analytical processes including patient ID, phlebotomy, specimen labeling, specimen verification, receipt and shipment.
Operates, maintains and troubleshoots laboratory equipment as required.
Provides outstanding customer service by demonstrating effective and appropriate communication and interpersonal skills.
Position Qualifications Required:
Required Experience: Basic computer and customer service skills. Previous lab experience preferred.
Required Education: BS in Biology, Chemistry, or other relevant science with at least 24 semester hours of sciences to include six credits of Chemistry, 6 credits of Biology, and additional 12 credits in chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory science in any combination.
Training / Certification / Licensure: Training in Chemistry/Hematology or Microbiology should be completed in six months not to exceed seven months.

Supervise or assist Residents with activity programs.

Our community is looking for a Care/Medication Technician to join our team.
The Care Giver/Med Tech role includes providing hands on care, physical and emotional support to each resident while maintaining a safe and comfortable home like environment.
Responsibilities:
Care Giver:
Responsible for a designated group of residents during the shift; knows where their residents are and physically checks on them throughout the shift.
Observes, reports and documents symptoms and conditions of residents for changes in condition such as skin, behavior, alertness, weight, dietary and participation in activities.
Responds to security system and resident call bells promptly.
Notifies supervisor and/or Health Care Coordinator if a resident has increased care needs.
Assists with continence management and disposes of all continence products properly to ensure sanitation of resident suite and community restrooms.
Serves and collects food trays and assists as needed; reports refusal of meals or loss of appetite.
Maintains cleanliness of resident's room and work areas.
Practices good standard care precautions of cleanliness, hygiene and health.
Helps residents maintain independence, promotes dignity and physical safety of each resident.
Actively participates/leads and assists residents with activities of daily living (i.e. bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, ambulation, transferring, eating) as instructed.
Engages residents in life skills and other life enrichment activities.
Greets and assists all internal and external customers, guests, family members, residents, vendors and team members.
Does resident laundry as assigned and needed.
Medication Tech duties:
Reviews service plan to learn pertinent information about residents.
Assists/observes medications and treatments for each resident using the medication observation record and the Six Rights of Medication Pass.
Documents and initials form as medications are given including appropriate documentation for refusal or missed doses.
Maintains confidentiality of all resident information including resident medication.
Reports all resident concerns made while assisting resident with the medication to the Nurse and/or Health Care Coordinator (HCC).
Restocks medication cart after all medication passes.
Assists in checking medication regardless of packaging system.
Counts all narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse each shift.
Maintains and cleans the Medication Room, med charts, treatment carts for neatness cleanliness, availability of medications and expired medications.
Follows re-fill process for medications.
Participates in the development of the Service Plan and monthly updates.
Takes and records temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse and respiration rates.
Reports occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials, sharp sticks and hazardous chemicals immediately.
Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Qualifications:
Certified Nurse's Aid certification preferred.
High School diploma/GED
Must be 18 years of age.
CPR Certification preferred
First Aid Certification preferred
Previous experience working with seniors preferred.

Essential Functions:
Unpack specimen deliveries
Properly count/compare the courier & field service technician specimens to route sheets
Correctly identify all necessary information on a test requisition form
Match information on the test requisition with information on the collection vial for accuracy
Identify correct documentation and procedures for missing or discrepant information
Demonstrate proper use of dMDL
Properly collate all paperwork received with specimen including requisition, checks, credit card forms, insurance card copies and prescriptions
Demonstrate proper use of MDL test codes and panels
Accession multiple types of specimens including blood, urine, swabs, CSF, synovial fluid, ticks, biopsies, etc.
Take pictures of specimen vial/container for QC purposes
Print labels and affix to specimen, requisition forms and accompanying documentation
Sort and prepare all paperwork for scanning; scan all paperwork
Sort samples in ascending order, as well as set up samples according to an XG sheet
Properly locate a sample requested by the clinical lab, quality control, or the SRC department
Complete any paperwork from QC/SRC
Archive and file all paperwork
Demonstrate proper use of a Sample Scan 96
Print labels for plates, preparing them to be scanned
Take temperatures of the clinical lab
Record data and organize documentation
Organize and maintain lab storage, samples and specimens
Prepare equipment and work space
Sanitize and sterilize equipment and workspace
Perform routine equipment preventative maintenance and thermometer calibrations; record data and results and report results and variations to supervisor
Prepare and aliquot reagents; make master-mix
Pour microbiology plates and perform sterility and growth promotion testing
Perform clerical and administrative duties as needed
Additional Responsibilities:
Assist laboratory staff in daily activities or additional duties as delegated.

Nemours is seeking a Medical Laboratory Scientist Shift (Full-Time), to join our Nemours Children's Health team in Wilmington, DE.
Work Schedule: 3, 10-hour shifts (9:00pm - 7:30am) with weekend and holiday rotations.
The Medical Laboratory Scientist exhibits the certified expertise required to perform complex services, procedures, and related tasks in the clinical laboratory, including in the areas of molecular diagnostics and flow cytometry, while under the direction of a Laboratory Supervisor or Manager.
The MLS will perform a variety of analytical procedures and specimen testing of moderate to high complexity, properly utilizing methodologies and instruments in accordance with laboratory policies and procedures and in compliance with regulatory agency requirements. The MLS may oversee some procedures being handled by Medical Laboratory Technicians, as needed.
Performs a variety of analytical procedures of moderate to high complexity in all areas of the laboratory as assigned, using manual and automated methods, and through a variety of clinical laboratory methodologies. In this function, must be able to independently perform all required calibration, quality control, statistical calculations and other process control and mathematical functions. Must also be able to understand concepts such as linearity, and standard deviation, as it applies to the performance of analytical testing in a clinical laboratory.
Additional responsibilities in Microbiology (if assigned):
Perform culture set-up, Gram stain preparation and interpretation, incubation, and examination to accurately and appropriate apply clinical and technical judgement.
Conduct bacterial identification and antimicrobial susceptibility testing from appropriate specimen types, ensuring accurate interpretation of clinical significance (normal flora vs pathogens) and compliance with quality and safety standards.
Perform molecular diagnostic assays (e.g., PCR) and rapid antigen testing, including specimen preparation, test set-up, result interpretation, and timely result reporting.
Develops and validates various complex tests for implementation in all sections of the laboratory. Collaborates in the writing and review of policies and standard operating procedures and completes proficiency testing.
Orders, accessions, statuses, and reports the results of tests performed on patient specimens, monitoring a variety of critical clinical issues, such as patient identifiers, specimen quality, order appropriateness, etc. In this function, must be able to read and understand a variety of written material such as specimen requisitions, worksheets, patient identification, specimen requirements, etc., whether performing this task manually (e.g., on paper) or using an information system. Must be able to check and verify information such as patient identification, lot numbers, expiration dates, etc., and act appropriately. Monitors pending logs regularly to provide rapid turnaround time.
Operates, calibrates, and performs troubleshooting and maintenance on laboratory equipment following established procedures, and as assigned by supervisor. Must be able to take responsibility for laboratory equipment performance, as demonstrated by interactions with technical representatives for instrument maintenance, both preventive and repair; must be able to successfully perform start-up and shutdown of complex analytical equipment. Recognizes need for additional Quality Control, maintenance, or specimens prior to releasing test results.
If specifically trained and assigned to specimen collection, processing and handling, collects or assists with specimens from patients or others in special procedures (e.g., assisting physicians at bone marrow aspirate collections). Such collections may take place in a variety of environments. Such collections may require entering patient isolation rooms, whereby, associate must follow appropriate infection control procedures.
Transports and handles specimens as assigned, following appropriate procedures.
Reviews technical and administrative procedures, as assigned. Responsible for staying informed about section changes, procedure changes and updates, etc. Reviews questions about procedures with section supervisor or designee as needed, informing supervisor when confusion about instructions or procedures exists.
Handles supply and inventory issues as required/assigned, identifying key technical parameters, such as lot numbers, storage requirements, etc. as required for performance of laboratory procedures. Follows laboratory section inventory procedures (e.g., recording date received, condition when received, checking order forms, invoices, etc.) Retrieves supplies and equipment from storage areas as needed. Notifies the section leader to place orders to avoid inventory deficiencies.
Job Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Lab program or Science related program is required.
Minimum of 6 months experience required. Experience can include clinical practicum time as a student.
Nationally/Internationally recognized certification as a Medical Technologist or equivalent (ASCP, AAB or AMT) is required.
