Experience with automated molecular platforms, assay validation, and troubleshooting complex molecular workflows.

Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology;

Perform the battery of special stains and immunohistochemistry used in diagnostic histopathology.
Rotate responsibility for the above and perform the necessary maintenance of all laboratory instrumentation, including but not limited to the changing of instrument reagents used to process, stain and coverslip tissue.
Responsible for appropriate QA documentation with regard to maintenance and temperature logs to be performed on a daily basis.
As assigned, assists Pathologists by grossing biopsy specimens.
Qualifications Required: NYS License as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or NYS License as a Histology Technician.
BS degree in biology, medical technology, or other life sciences, or an AAS degree from an accredited program in Histotechnology.

Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician -Histology At Stony Brook Medicine, a TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician is a valuable member of our team, who provides clinical services to our patient population and follows all laboratory procedures and protocols with interpretation of such policies as necessary to ensure proper patient care and safe work equipment.

Duties of a TH Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician may include but are not limited to the following:Will paraffin and embed the following: biopsy, routine surgical specimens, placenta, autopsy and research tissue.
Perform paraffin microtomy techniques which include the use of the microtome to produce 2-5 micron sections.
Stain, coverslip and case assemble, label and distribute all prepared histology sections.
Follow all appropriate protocols for all LIS systems: Copath, Ventana Benchmark, Ultra, Symphony, Vantage and Copath.
Will complete all routine and special requests for additional levels, recuts, special stains and immunohistochemistry requests; verifying each upon completion in Copath and documenting the above for QA purposes.
Perform the battery of special stains and immunohistochemistry used in diagnostic histopathology.
Rotate responsibility for the above and perform the necessary maintenance of all laboratory instrumentation, including but not limited to the changing of instrument reagents used to process, stain and coverslip tissue.
Responsible for appropriate QA documentation with regard to maintenance and temperature logs to be performed on a daily basis.
As assigned, assists Pathologists by grossing biopsy specimens.
Qualifications Required: NYS License as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist or NYS License as a Histology Technician.
BS degree in biology, medical technology, or other life sciences, or an AAS degree from an accredited program in Histotechnology.
Good interpersonal and communication skills are considered essential for this position.
HT (ASCP) or eligible.
SL-1: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician or documented eligibility including provisional/limited permit eligibility with 0-2 years of demonstrated relevant experience.
SL-2: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician or documented eligibility including provisional/limited permit eligibility with 3-5 years of demonstrated relevant experience.
SL-3: NYS licensure as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist/Technician t or documented eligibility, including provisional/limited permit eligibility with a minimum 6 years demonstrated relevant experience.
Preferred: NYS License as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist.
Minimum one year Histology clinical laboratory experience, to include: Special stains, Immunohistochemistry staining and Microtomy.
Bachelor's degree in medical technology, biology, or other life science.
Experience in renal, nerve, muscle specimens and biopsy grossing.

We are seeking a Lab Assistant to work with the operations team in the Bioreactor Scale Up and Development (BS&D) group, which is part of the Product Analytical and Process Development (PAPD) department. The operations team is primarily responsible for supporting routine laboratory tasks that are essential to BS&D core mission. This role will receive general instruction for routine work and will execute assigned tasks individually and in collaboration with others and will communicate primarily within the subgroup as well as other employees in the department.
A Typical Day in the Role Might Look Like:
With guidance, perform routine tasks such as:
* Supporting lab operations to cultivate mammalian cells producing biologics in bench and pilot-scale bioreactors, including sterilizing, sanitizing, and operating bioreactors
* Preparing media, buffers and feeds
* Performing preventative maintenance activities and maintaining laboratory equipment
* With guidance, troubleshoot bioreactor and equipment issues
* Be flexible to support critical laboratory operations, including occasional weekend and off-hours work, to ensure the timely completion of process development studies and project deliverables.
* Ensure that lab, storage, and hallway spaces are clean and organized to maintain safe working environment
* Willingness to learn and adapt new laboratory practices (SOPs, protocols, procedures etc.) with supervision
