**Job Summary**
The Medical Lab Technician is responsible for conducting routine and specialized diagnostic tests on blood, body fluids, and other specimens to support accurate and timely patient diagnosis and care. This role requires expertise in performing moderate and high-complexity tests while adhering to strict quality control standards, laboratory protocols, and regulatory guidelines. The Medical Lab Technician is also tasked with maintaining and troubleshooting laboratory equipment, ensuring a safe and compliant work environment, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to provide critical diagnostic information.
**Essential Functions**
+ Performs laboratory testing in assigned departments following established procedures for waived, moderate, and high-complexity tests; reviews and validates results for accuracy.
+ Operates, maintains, and troubleshoots laboratory equipment; performs scheduled preventive maintenance and resolves technical issues in a timely manner.
+ Performs and evaluates quality control procedures; initiates and documents corrective actions for out-of-range or invalid results before releasing patient data.
+ Accurately documents patient test results in the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and follows procedures for critical result reporting and specimen integrity.
+ Collects blood specimens via venipuncture and capillary techniques according to established phlebotomy procedures, ensuring proper patient identification and specimen labeling.
+ Recognizes, investigates, and resolves issues related to specimen collection, processing, and testing; escalates concerns when appropriate.
+ Participates in the training of students and new personnel by demonstrating procedures, monitoring performance, and providing feedback.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
+ Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
+ Complies with all policies and standards.
**Qualifications**
+ Associate Degree in Chemical, Physical, Biological, or Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Laboratory Technology required or
+ Technical School completion of an official military Medical Laboratory Procedures course (50 weeks minimum) and holding the military occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist required
+ 0-2 years of acute clinical laboratory experience preferred
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
+ Knowledge of laboratory testing principles, quality control practices, and specimen handling.
+ Proficiency with laboratory instruments, LIS platforms, and data entry.
+ Ability to follow established protocols and regulatory guidelines (e.g., CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission).
+ Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
+ Commitment to accuracy, efficiency, and patient safety in laboratory practices.

* Has two years of directly related work experience, and

Job Summary

This position is accountable for managing cadaveric surgical skills labs and instrumentation logistics in support of the Medical Education, Product Marketing and Development team's surgeon facing events.
Support leadership by planning and executing a variety of cadaveric training and operational activities for the Zimmer Biomet Institute Lab (ZBI). This position also requires a high level of communication to additional ZBI lab facilities and their management teams, specifically logistics of personnel and instrumentation in support of other lab events, ensure compliance with applicable laboratory policies and procedures and ensure safety procedures in the ZBI and at external sites involving Zimmer Biomet employees are followed at all times. Manage all functions associated with the coordination of activities of scheduling of resources and personnel, surgical skills communications, meetings and events coordination and surgical skills team member training.
How You'll Create Impact
* Manage ZBI assets and instrument inventories for multiple product segments for medical education, development, industry and various other event types.
* Setting up and cleaning up cadaveric laboratories to accommodate various medical procedures.
* Ensuring proper biohazard waste disposal per state and federal guidelines.
* Decontaminating and placing instruments back into inventory at conclusion of events.
* Assisting teams using the cadaveric lab with extra tools, clean-up, procedure assistance, etc.
* Maintain appropriate levels of inventory including but not limited to, non-transplantable human tissue, instruments, lab equipment and supplies inventory by forecasting needs for various events.
* Ensure proper handling that is compliant with the American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) and Zimmer Biomet standard operating procedures.
* Coordinate lab schedules for events at ZBI sites and off-site laboratory facilities.
* Assist Zimmer Biomet Institute team to develop the annual operating plan for business segments based on strategic plan.
* Efficiently plan, prepare, and pack resources for off-site events.
* Prepares expense reports and supports the reconciliation of monthly finance projections.

The Opportunity
Responsible for greeting donors at the plasma collection center and conducting a series of registration procedures to verify donor suitability for the plasma pheresis process.
You will report to the Assistant Center Manager.
The Role
In compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), assists qualified donors in completing the screening process. The screening procedures includes but are not limited to: assessing the self-administered health history, answering basic medical questions associated with the donation process, referring donors to medical staff when appropriate and performing health screening procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, temperature. Performs finger stick to obtain sample to obtain donor's hematocrit and total protein levels.
Upon completion of the appropriate training, may educate new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma. This includes explaining the screening process, the health screening tests performed, the appointment system, donation fees, center policies, proper nutrition and any other information pertinent to the donor. Ensure that all donor questions are answered timely, accurately and professionally.
May be involved in registering applicant and transfer donors based upon completion of appropriate training and operational needs of the center.
May answer the telephone and answer callers question or transfer call to appropriate staff member.
Maintain alertness and awareness to any reaction by a donor may have during or after the pheresis process and notifies appropriate staff.
Alerts Group Leader or Supervisor of donor flow issues.
Ensure the accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in the SOPs.
Understand the policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center if applicable.

Performs technical laboratory functions including Chemistry, Hematology, Urinalysis, Immunology and Microbiology testing. Receives and processes specimens, examines specimens and records test results. Analyzes results using knowledge of test principles and clinical significance. Analyzes test quality per established performance standards. Provides test result information to approved callers and alerts appropriate personnel to abnormal test results for immediate action.
**JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES**
Education: Associate degree inMedical Laboratory Technology or military training equivalency or equivalent.
Licensure: Certification within 1 year of employment preferred by a nationally recognized professional registry.
Experience: Clinical laboratory experience of at least six months is preferred.
