Maintain and promote Cytopathology services to both off-site clinicians and in house specialties. Perform high complexity testing procedures required to provide diagnoses for Cytology Specimens. Obtain requisitions from physicians requesting laboratory tests. Examine gynecological, non-gynecological, and needle aspirate specimens. Assists Cytopathologists with adequacy assessment of fine needle biopsy aspirations in various locations. Determine preliminary diagnosis for review by Cytopathologists. Verify test results against accepted quality control standards, record all findings on laboratory information system.
This position is Monday - Friday from 10:00am to 6:00pm. Location is our Weill Cornell campus on Manhattan's Upper East Side.

Responsibilities

Ensure that any contracted service where contracts a hospital (under lab management or a free-standing contract) to provide testing services for stat or off hours RRL coverage is delivered in a high quality and with all contract terms delivered as agreed on.
Ensure that any contracted service where hospital contracts with Diagnostics for reference testing, that samples are prepared for pick up on time; that any issues with testing performance identified by hospital providers is immediately shared with the Diagnostics laboratory to where the test was referred and collaborates to improve and resolution of those issues.
Manager is a key operations contact for Hospital clients that contract with Diagnostics for testing services to coordinate service level expectations. Coordinate and act as an operations liaison for regional management and scientific directors' responses of Diagnostics leadership to ensure hospital client satisfaction as well as to foster and identify regional opportunities for deeper Hospital Lab Management services.
Lead or participate in internal meetings, client meetings or cross-functional meetings. Responsible for participating in development of project plans, meeting documentation, regional action item management, and any other regional deliverables.
Collaborates with supply chain/procurement to maintain adequate and efficient levels of inventory. Ability to utilize effective management, influencing skills both internally and externally to ensure a successful implementation of all services within scope.
Knowledge of department metrics goals and actual performance, coordinates department activity to achieve metric goals
Collaborates with Laboratory Director to establish and maintain laboratory budget

QUALIFICATIONS

Join a highly-skilled technical team of Laboratory Technologists in our Hematology area of the Central Laboratory at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell Medical Center. Take on this important role, responsible for performing all patient tests, reading slides, performing quality control procedures as well as standard preventative maintenance. Here you'll have an opportunity to work with nationally accredited colleagues and contribute to lifesaving results.
This position works 8am-4pm, Monday through Friday with rotating weekends and holidays. Location is our Weill-Cornell campus on Manhattan's Upper East Side.
Preferred Criteria
ASCP certification
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Required Criteria
A Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology (or equivalent curriculum)
New York State Clinical Laboratory Technologist licensure from the New York Education department
