The Medical Laboratory Scientist II (MLS II) role, under general supervision, performs analyses on a variety of sample types. Maintains proper records and utilizes independent judgement to generate acceptable test results. Responsible for quality, efficiency and safety in the performance of laboratory functions. Serves as a fully effective and participative member of the multidisciplinary patient care services team.
Key Responsibilities
Independently performs waived, moderate and high complexity testing using manual and automated processes. Complies and participates with all regulatory agency guidelines (CLIA 88, TJC, CAP, FDA, etc.) and addresses concerns as needed.
Independently identifies and resolves analytical problems, troubleshoots equipment issues and takes corrective action in evaluating testing procedures, patient results and specimen integrity; seeks guidance when necessary.
Independently reviews and records quality control and determines the acceptability of testing, patient results, and instrument function by applying the principles of QA/QC daily.
Responds to clinical and customer concerns, independently resolves customer issues in a confidential manner, employing integrity and discretion.
Assists with development and modification of procedures and assumes additional responsibilities when appropriate.
Independently troubleshoots and resolves problems and documents corrective actions.
Attends/Leads mandatory education, training, and in-service meetings specific to department.
Performs duties as assigned related to the job description.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology, biology or related sciences or an Associate Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related field or completion of Military Laboratory Technician program with experience required.
Experience: 0-1 years (bachelor's degree) preferred; minimum of 3 years of clinical laboratory experience (Associates in MLT or related science or Military Training) required.
Licensure/Certifications: ASCP or equivalent preferred.

What Will You Do in This Role
Provide cost-effective equipment inspection, maintenance, calibration, and repair service on a variety of medical devices

The Medical Laboratory Scientist - Generalist plays a critical role in performing, reviewing, and reporting clinical diagnostic tests to aid our providers- urologists, medical oncologists, pathologists, and APPs in the diagnosis, treatment, and monitoring of disease. Working directly under the supervision of the Laboratory Operations Manager, the Medical Technologist is responsible for clinical chemistry, immunoassay, hematology, microbiology, and molecular testing. The responsibilities include laboratory training, equipment maintenance, quality control, quality assurance, and calibrations. The individual will ensure the timely processing and handling of specimens and ensure performance metrics, such as turnaround times are met.
Responsibilities
Assists the Laboratory Operations Manager and/or Quality Specialists and Lead Medical Technologist in meeting regulatory agency requirements (CLIA, CAP, etc.).
Performs clinical chemistry, immunoassay, hematology, microbiology, and molecular testing, and provides coverage in these areas as needed by the operation.
Operates laboratory equipment and performs quality control (QC) procedures, instrument maintenance, calibration, and proficiency testing (PT) according to established laboratory protocol and manufacturer and regulatory requirements.
Performs, evaluates, and reports QC, and identifies and resolves any QC failures.
Investigates, documents, and resolves any specimen integrity or quality issues (pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical).
Plates, isolates, and identifies bacterial and other microorganisms present in body fluids and rectal swabs.
Processes isolates on automated instrumentation for identification and sensitivities.
Performs DNA extraction on various specimen types, manually and using an automated extraction instrument.

Job Overview:
We are seeking a PRN Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT/MLS) to support clinical laboratory operations at our Baltimore site. This on-site, as-needed role is ideal for laboratory professionals seeking schedule flexibility while contributing to meaningful clinical research that advances patient care.
The MLT/MLS will be responsible for the receipt, processing, and testing of biological specimens, performing waived and moderately complex laboratory tests in accordance with CLIA '88, Good Clinical Laboratory Practices (GCLP), and internal SOPs. Key Responsibilities:
Collect, accession, label, process, and prepare biological specimens for analysis
Perform waived and moderately complex clinical laboratory testing accurately and efficiently

Perform instrument start-up, calibration, quality control, and routine maintenance
Troubleshoot instrumentation issues and document corrective actions

* Serves as a subject matter expert (SME) and knowledge resource for the laboratory.
* Prepares specimens for routine laboratory assays.
* Performs laboratory assays and analyses.
* Reviews and verifies results to ensure data validity and interprets findings.
* Applies appropriate procedural techniques related to specimen procurement and handling, instrument operation, operator maintenance, universal precautions, and inventory monitoring.
* Performs and documents quality control procedures and proficiency testing in accordance with established parameters and standards.
* Accurately enters assay results into client reports.
* Resolves validity issues and amends reports as needed.
* Performs phlebotomy and other specimen collection procedures.
* Ensures client turnaround times (TATs) are met.

Minimum Qualifications
Education
* Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (required).
Experience
* Two (2) years of previous Medical Technologist experience in a comparable clinical laboratory setting (required).
* Two (2) years of experience in chemistry, hematology, blood bank, and microbiology setup (preferred).
Licenses and Certifications
* Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist (ASCP), ASCP HEW, or equivalent certification (preferred).

Following the laboratory's procedure for specimen collection, handling, and processing, as well as test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of test results; Following the laboratory's quality control policies;

Job Overview:
We are seeking a PRN Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT/MLS) to support clinical laboratory operations at our Baltimore site. This on-site, as-needed role is ideal for laboratory professionals seeking schedule flexibility while contributing to meaningful clinical research that advances patient care.
The MLT/MLS will be responsible for the receipt, processing, and testing of biological specimens, performing waived and moderately complex laboratory tests in accordance with CLIA '88, Good Clinical Laboratory Practices (GCLP), and internal SOPs. Work is performed under appropriate supervision and in collaboration with experienced laboratory professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect, accession, label, process, and prepare biological specimens for analysis
Perform waived and moderately complex clinical laboratory testing accurately and efficiently
Prepare and package samples for shipment in compliance with DOT and IATA regulations
Perform instrument start-up, calibration, quality control, and routine maintenance
Troubleshoot instrumentation issues and document corrective actions
Maintain accurate documentation for calibrations, QC, and quality assessments
Ensure compliance with CLIA, GCLP, and applicable regulatory and accrediting requirements
Monitor reagent, supply inventory, and temperature logs
Support validation of new testing methods and procedures
Participate in departmental training, meetings, and quality improvement initiatives
Demonstrate working knowledge of laboratory computer systems and basic troubleshooting

Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or life/health sciences with at least 1 year of clinical laboratory experience
MLT or MLS certification preferred (not required)
