Oversees and performs alongside the lab specialists, preparatory work for the physical science laboratories, including reagent preparation, and preparing carts with materials for lab. Responsible for reporting of reagent completeness in all physical science labs district-wide. Coordinates with the department chair to provide assistance throughout the physical science and engineering departments for the laboratory requirements of all faculty. Assists lab specialists and instructors during regularly scheduled labs. Administers oversight of laboratory inventory and equipment. Orders, receives, issues, and stores materials, parts, and supplies. Assists with the review of bids on materials and equipment purchases, as needed. Performs routine repairs on equipment, and notifies proper personnel for warranty maintenance and major non-warranty repairs. Oversees and assists lab specialists in preparing flammable, acidic - alkaline, or corrosive liquids. Supervises and executes the management of waste collection and storage in the labs and schedules for waste pickup and disposal in compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Reviews waste disposal manifests, waste stream logs, weekly waste inspection log, and ensures paperwork is submitted to safety office. Coordinates and develops workshops for special and community events. Recommends laboratory equipment and researches potential new laboratory experiments, as needed or as requested by faculty. General Description Performs TB outreach work including home visits for TB skin testing, directly observed therapy and TB education. Performs data entry, venipuncture, fingersticks, hematocrits, and PPD skin tests. Assesses vital signs, (BP, Wt, Ht, Temp) and urinalysis. Assists instructors and students in use of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration equipment. Trains and supervises students in classroom and lab areas. Responsible for maintaining the overall functionality of the technology infrastructure at the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVACR) lab areas and classrooms. Specific Duties and Responsibilities Essential Functions: Performs routine and assigned activities in the Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning and Refrigeration lab and classrooms. Assists instructors with class lab activities. Troubleshoot lab and classroom equipment; coordinates major repairs with equipment vendors and/or appropriate departments. Maintains proper inventory of supplies and equipment, at TECH, Mid-Valley, and STARR campus. Maintains cleanliness of labs and classrooms. Maintains a safe learning environment. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Associate's Degree or a minimum of 60 earned college hours. At least two (2) years of recent related work experience in the HVACR industry, preferred. Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Strong computer and iPad skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office including, but not limited to, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams and Outlook, the Windows environment, and internet research skills. Familiarity with residential and commercial HVAC lab and classroom equipment. Demonstrated practice of safety precautions and rules.
