Responsibilities

Overview
Expected pay for this position is $29.61 - $34.84/hour. Actual pay will be determined by experience, skills and internal equity.
For Students enrolled in OSF School of Medical Laboratory Science.
This is an education stipend opportunity. Upon completion of OSF School of Medical Laboratory Science's program, education stipend recipients will enter as a Clinical Lab Scientist/MT I, at OSF HealthCare.
The Education Stipend will be issued as a one-time payment of $4,200 and will be considered taxable income.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Performs various routine and complex clinical laboratory tests according to established policies and procedures in order to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease. Assess test results for accuracy. Performs routine scheduled preventative maintenance, calibration, and minor problem troubleshooting on laboratory instruments. May perform blood specimen collection, training personnel and students. Independent judgment and professional education and certification are required.

The Hospital Specimen Preparation Technician (HSPT) is responsible for daily preparation of patient specimens from hospital clients. The HSPT must demonstrate a mastery of all functions of specimen preparation for submission to multiple Quest Diagnostics facilities, as well as Rapid Response Laboratories (RRL). The HSPT works with minimal direction. Additionally, since many changes do occur from day to day, great flexibility on the part of the HSPT is required. The majority of HSPT work is on the day shift, but flexibility is required for weekends, holidays, on-call, and overtime based on client requirements.
Responsibilities:
* Responsible for preparation of patient specimens for hospital clients and pick up by couriers.
* Responsible for positive daily client interactions representing Quest Diagnostics to the customer (face-to-face and/or telephone).
* Prepares and arranges all stat testing needs, researches pending results, alerts Hospital IT to communication failures, accepts and troubleshoots incoming calls to the Hospital Lab from Quest Diagnostics facilities.
* Demonstrates excellent proficiency in test ordering policies, procedures, specimen requirements for test ordering, sample preparation,Care 360 and compliance/legal requirements.
* Troubleshoots and problem solves client issues related to area of responsibility.
* Communicates and collaborates effectively with the Hospital Lab Manager, as well as the Quest Diagnostics sales team and other functions in the organization.
* Relays client concerns to Quest Diagnostics supervisor and sales. Participates in sales/operations review of account.
* Communicates information regarding problem-solving with specimens, test cancellations, testing requirements, billing requirements with various hospital staff, such as phlebotomy, outpatient draw centers, laboratory managers, department supervisors, Hospital IT Analysts, physicians, nurses, and pathologists.

Shift Hours: 2:30 PM to 11:00 PM (Monday through Friday)
Essential Duties:
Run multiple operations within the Surface, Finish and/or AR Coatroom departments to process Maui Jim prescription lenses.
Timely manage the flow of lenses and trays through the process.
Maintain equipment maintenance and operating manuals.
Maintain continual operation of machinery.
Cross-train into all department activities and positions.
Follow written procedures to insure proper and efficient operation of all equipment.
Multi-task to maintain the efficient flow of production and breakage.
Work between all Rx departments to accomplish our mutual goal of high production, low spoilage, customer satisfaction and high quality.
Monitor and assist in the maintenance and repair of equipment. Consult with the Lab Manager on equipment breakdowns, part orders, and expansion needs.
Maintain the cleanliness of the equipment.
Follow all lab safety procedures.
Perform all other duties as requested or required by your manager.

POSITION SUMMARY
Under limited supervision, conducts in-process and finished product testing to determine adherence to established specifications of quality and purity.
This shift will be from 7 PM - 5 AM four nights a week after training.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Conduct laboratory tests and analyze data for a variety of purposes, such as production, pollution control, quality control, and minor research.
Test and analyze products, such as feed, beverage, and industrial alcohol, to determine if product meets plant specifications prior to release.
Release in spec vessels and report out of spec vessels.
Test and analyze production samples, such as fermenters, beerstills, rectifiers, etc., and report uncharacteristic results.
Test and analyze wastewater samples to ensure effluent is within GPSD discharge limits and report any violations.
Document results of tests, readings, etc. in logbooks and in TLC (Total Lab Client).
Complete certificates of analysis.
Prepare chemical solutions for use in lab.
Maintain and calibrate all lab equipment and related field instrumentation.
Maintains awareness and adheres to all FDA, GMP, TTB, USP, EPA, OSHA and employer standards and guidelines.
Support and comply with all food safety, quality, and legality requirements.
Other duties as assigned.

Assists the technologist in performing basic patient care according to medical center policies and procedures to ensure quality patient care of assigned patients of all ages.
* Demonstrates knowledge of patient care, comfort and safety procedures.
* Demonstrates knowledge of moving, lifting, transferring and ambulating patients using standard safety practices (or proper body mechanics).
* Demonstrates knowledge of paper work processes
* Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served
Departmental Support
Performs department maintenance duties/errands upon request to help ensure a clean, efficient department. Uses time, supplies and other resources productively. Performs support functions of the medical imaging department to ensure patient expectations and needs are met.
* Participates in assigned maintenance tasks such as: cleaning equipment
* Assists in stocking necessary room supplies
* Assists assigned area with errands as requested
* Transports paper work internally between work areas
* Prioritizes messages and work in an efficient consistent manner
* Assists others in assignment completion
* Relays information in an accurate manner to correct individual
* Uses maintenance services efficiently by promptly reporting unsafe equipment or risky situation
* Promptly processes images and paper work to ensure timely turn around
* Assists physicians and other hospital personnel in locating images for review in PACS.
* Able to access and print reports from the RIS system

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $17per hour - $17per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model. Overview
POSITION SUMMARY:
Position is responsible for participating in highly complex, technically specialized tasks involved in screening slides of clinical specimens for evidence of cancer or other pathological conditions. In doing so documents findings and activities according to departmental terminology and protocols including; marking abnormalities, rendering diagnoses and determining cases for quality control or subsequent review by a pathologist. Position will be required to perform routine quality control, participate in cellular evaluations for specimen adequacy, provide procedural support and perform specimen processing as needed. Position will also assist with the technical oversight and direction of routine cytology processing procedures in order to ensure high quality, diagnostic throughput in the department. Position requires technical diagnostic expertise, attention to detail and the analytic skills required to remedy any technical difficulties encountered.
Qualifications
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
* Bachelor Degree with successful completion of a NAACLS accredited cytology program.
Experience:
* One year of Laboratory experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience:
* Three years of full time experience as a certified CT in a Cytology Laboratory.
Licensure/Certifications
* CT (ASCP)
Other skills/knowledge
* Technical expertise necessary in order to interpret tests, recognize abnormal test results, validate and optimize new testing platforms, synthesize complex technical procedures and troubleshoot technical or equipment issues.
* Analytical skills necessary to interpret and determine appropriate specimen preparation method, and to evaluate suitability of slides and stains produced.
* Ability to work on several projects at one time with good organizational skills, judgment and technical skills.
* Interpersonal skills sufficient to interact effectively and communicate with patients and other health care professionals.
* High level of professionalism and skillful performance in stressful situations.
