What it takes to succeed: * At least 18 years old. * Bachelor of Science degree in a related field. * Clinical Laboratory Scientist/Medical Technologist experience. * Registered with the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP). * Working knowledge of laboratory instrumentation, including QC and Troubleshooting. * Working knowledge of Microbiology diagnostics and the Vitek2 preferred. * Prepare laboratory reports and enter results in digital medical records. * Strong written and verbal communication skills. * Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft applications, spreadsheets and databases. * Able to sit, walk, talk, use hands, hear, smell and have color vision. * Able to stand for prolonged periods of time. * Able to handle multiple tasks at once and work in a fast-paced work environment. * Able to work indoors with several large and small laboratory instruments as well as refrigeration and freezer units which create moderate noise. * Able to work with limited exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals and radiation. Protective equipment is provided when necessary. * Able to positively interact with park guests and co-workers of all ages, different ethnic/cultural backgrounds and/or language, and individuals with special needs. * Veterinary experience preferred. * Animal or aquatic animal laboratory diagnostics experience preferred. Department: Laboratory Schedule/Status: Varies; Full Time Standard Hours/Week: 40 General Description: Under the general supervision of the Section Supervisor, independently performs, analyzes, and reports diagnostic laboratory procedures within the guidelines of the departmental policies and procedures. Demonstrates the ability to coordinate a simultaneous series of tests with complete accuracy. Performs and documents required instrument maintenance, calibration, and linearity procedures. Troubleshoots and documents instrument problems, notifying the section chief or supervisor. Informs all Nursing stations of anticipated delays due to extended downtime.
