All you need is:
Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent

1 year of laboratory training or experience performing high complexity testing
Strong reading, writing, and analytical skills
Ability to operate general laboratory equipment, including but not limited to: telephones, computers, automated analyzers, centrifuges, microscopes, manual and automated pipettes, and audible alarms
Entry-level role; professional experience is not required. Internships, academic projects, or equivalent experience are welcome

Independently contacts technical service representatives when required to resolve problems in a timely manner. • Is familiar with various methods of cyto-preparation, staining, and cover slipping for all cytologic specimens and troubleshoots the same. • Screens and diagnoses gynecologic cytology smears (PAP smears) according to established criteria, Is responsible for final diagnosis of negative cases. • Screens and diagnoses, and refers to the supervisor and the pathologist, non-gynecologic and atypical gynecologic cytology smears according to established criteria. • Understands the overall system and workflow of the Cytology laboratory, and can assist with problem solving as needed. • Readily performs other tasks as assigned or directed by the supervisor.

Summary
The Medical Laboratory Scientist II, in their role as Testing Personnel as defined by CLIA, may perform waived and non-waived testing. Under general supervision, carries out all policies and performs all tests in accordance with the department's standard operating procedures. Works independently in an efficient and organized manner to assure accurate results and records. The work requires a professional level of knowledge to read and interpret accurately test results used by providers in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases.
The Medical Laboratory Scientist II, in their role as General Supervisor as defined by CLIA, may be delegated the responsibility of the day-to-day supervision or oversight of the laboratory operations and personnel performing testing and reporting results. Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager and Clinical Supervisors, the Medical Laboratory Scientist II is responsible for supervision of assigned workstations, including Quality Control (QC) review, training, competency assessment of staff, and inventory management.
The testing personnel are responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and reporting test results. Each individual performs only those tests that are authorized by the laboratory director and require a degree of skill commensurate with the individual's education, training or experience, and technical abilities.

As outlined by CLIA, after successful completion of orientation, training, and competency assessment on all instruments/methods applicable to their role:
Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of patient test results.
Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.
Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies; document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed.
Follow the laboratory's established corrective action policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results, and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical consultant, technical supervisor, clinical consultant, or director.
Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.

Job Summary
The Medical Laboratory Scientist II, in their role as Testing Personnel as defined by CLIA, may perform waived and non-waived testing. Under general supervision, carries out all policies and performs all tests in accordance with the department's standard operating procedures. Works independently in an efficient and organized manner to assure accurate results and records. The work requires a professional level of knowledge to read and interpret accurately test results used by providers in the diagnosis and treatment of diseases. The Medical Laboratory Scientist II, in their role as General Supervisor as defined by CLIA, may be delegated the responsibility of the day-to-day supervision or oversight of the laboratory operations and personnel performing testing and reporting results. Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager and Clinical Supervisors, the Medical Laboratory Scientist II is responsible for supervision of assigned workstations including Quality Control (QC) review, training, competency assessment of staff and inventory management. The testing personnel are responsible for specimen processing, test performance and for reporting test results. Each individual performs only those tests that are authorized by the laboratory director and require a degree of skill commensurate with the individual's education, training or experience, and technical abilities.

* 1. Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results;
* 2. Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples;
* 3. Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed;
* 4. Follow the laboratory's established corrective action policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance;
* 5. Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical consultant, technical supervisor, clinical consultant or director; and
* 6. Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.

Location: Iraq
The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible to provide comprehensive health services to DOS, DOD, and contractor personnel stationed in Iraq. The MLT performs lab tests and procedures, mostly comprising of microscopic, bacteriological, hematologic, immunologic, and chemical diagnostic analyses on samples of tissue, blood, urine, stool, synovial fluid and semen. The MLT looks for clues to the absence, presence, and extent of the causes and progression of diseases through accurate and efficient lab tests.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect and process biological specimens for laboratory testing.
Conduct routine and specialized tests in hematology, microbiology, chemistry, and blood bank.
Maintain laboratory equipment and troubleshoot any technical issues.
Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean laboratory environment.
Record and report test results accurately and in a timely manner.
Collaborate with pathologists and other medical staff to interpret results and ensure quality patient care.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Actively participates in Mass Casualty exercises and events.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements/Certifications:
Minimum of 3 years recent experience as Medical Laboratory Technician including 6 months within the last year.
Certified as a medical laboratory technician through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), the American Medical Technologists (AMT), the National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCALP) or the Board of Registry of the American Association of Bioanalysis (AAB).
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Here's What You'll Do:
Serve as an internal technical expert (Instrument Lead) for flow cytometry instrumentation, operation, and maintenance.
Ensure all cytometers are harmonized to generate equivalent data, remain ready for clinical acquisition, adhere to stringent QC program and that all documentation meets GCLP Compliance needs and is available in the event of internal or external audit.

Lead or support assay fit-for-purpose qualification and validation to ensure compliance with clinical standards.
Perform data acquisition, gating analysis (FCS Express), interpretation, and reporting of study data.
