This position performs laboratory analytical procedures on blood, body fluids, and tissue specimens. The incumbent is responsible for the technical accuracy, instrument operation, quality control, and result reporting per established policies and procedures. They are accountable to ensure timely and accurate results are reported to the appropriate hospital staff and physicians in a courteous and professional manner. Some support tasks will be required to maintain laboratory operations and may include specimen collection, sample handling, information system procedures, and customer support and procedure revisions when needed. Scheduling of hours may be changed, as company deems necessary.
Nature and Scope
The Lab is a 24-hour/7-days a week operation, providing laboratory services to an inpatient and outpatient population of all ages.
The incumbent must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide quality and timely laboratory tests for inpatients and outpatients. Test results must be clearly reported to nursing and/or medical staff through direct communication or result entry by computer. Communicating delays in patients care and assisting with technical questions for clinical lab assistants, physicians and nurses is expected.
The incumbent must consider the age of the patient when performing testing and releasing results. Must be able to communicate with a diverse patient population and their family when performing special procedures. Behavior promoting positive customer service is expected at all times.
The incumbent must be knowledgeable of and observe all safety requirements in a laboratory and hospital setting. Comprehensive knowledge must be maintained for all procedures that are required to be performed. Competency in work related skills must be demonstrated annually.
This position does provide patient care. This position may require driving to other Renown patient testing centers as assigned by the Clinical Laboratory Supervisor.

Under the direction of Clinical Laboratory management staff and in accordance with regulatory requirements and accreditation standards; performs clinical laboratory functions in a timely manner following specified policies, procedures and protocols. On a 24x7 basis performs analysis on blood, body fluids, tissues and other material from patients/clients to provide data for diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
As defined by delegation from the medical director for the duties of the “general supervisor” and in accordance with CLIA-88, State of California and the State of Nevada regulations performs the following:
Consistently complies with all applicable Tahoe Forest Health System and Clinical Laboratory policies and procedures. Evaluates and solves problems or notifies management of all unresolved operational problems.
Performs complex analytical tests and procedures, recognizes deviation from expected results, and takes appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision. Ensures data is entered into the LIS (laboratory information system) in a timely manner.
Effectively communicates with nursing, physicians and other ancillary staff to ensure effective patient preparation, collection and specimen handling. Significant errors or deviation from established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are reported within the Clinical Laboratory through the Continuous Service Improvement (CSI) process or through the Tahoe Forest Health System “RLDatix” risk management system
Recognizes factors that affect measurements and results, analyzes Quality Control (QC) data, makes judgments concerning the results, and takes appropriate action to maintain accuracy and precision.
Recognizes abnormal test results and answers inquiries about them, the methodology, specificity, and sensitivity; answers questions about specific factors that can influence test results.
Operates and maintains instrument/equipment, recognizes equipment malfunction, troubleshoots and repairs as necessary. Notifies clinical departments in a timely manner when equipment/instruments are down and testing may be delayed. Takes appropriate actions to activate backup activities when appropriate to ensure safe patient care.
When confronted with operational issues, acts as the “Medicare Supervisor”/ ”General Supervisor” per CLIA-88 regulations in the absence of laboratory management staff. “TFHS CLS/”Medicare Supervisor” Responsibilities available in department.
Maintains current knowledge related to patient safety and laboratory safety requirements. Observes and ensures the health and safety requirements for patients and employees both within and outside of the clinical laboratory environment are achieved.
Consistently contributes to process improvement activities within and outside of the Clinical Laboratory using “lean principles” and Define-Measure-Analyze-Improve Control (DMAIC) approach to enhance operations. Helps evaluate new techniques and procedures in terms of space and personnel requirements, method comparison, cost analysis, and the establishment of reference intervals; writes, revises and/or reviews technical procedures.
Some support tasks will be required at times to ensure effective laboratory operations including but not limited to telephone attendance, clerical duties, inventory management, customer service activities, specimen collection, sample handling and special procedures. Training and mentoring new personnel may be assigned.
Scheduling of hours may be changed as necessary to meet the needs of laboratory operations. The ability to work standby and take call back is required to cover situations when no staff is routinely scheduled or schedule is vacant.
Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior. Understands “Just Culture” utilization at TFHS.

Job Summary
BASIC SUMMARY:
Perform basic medical technology procedures according to protocol, SOP and GLP. Operate, maintain and perform basic troubleshooting procedures on analyzers. Process additional study samples. Perform and review study ordered parameters and computer input of raw data.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Assist in the preparation of appropriate paperwork and materials prior to clinical pathology blood collection days. Assist with the computer protocol work schedule for each study, as needed.
* Perform basic medical technology procedures such as record blood slide differentials, reticulocyte counts, and urinalysis with minimal supervision; prepare blood and cytology slide smears.
* Inventory and package differential and reticulocyte blood slides for each study for shipment or storage.
* Maintain proficient knowledge of hematology, clinical chemistry, coagulation, and urinalysis.
* Analyze proficiency survey samples.
* Review documentation of functions performed as part of quality requirements.
* Input raw data into the computer system and review data.
* Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot clinical pathology analyzers.
* Perform daily maintenance and quality control of instruments.
* Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
* Education: Associate's degree (A.A./A.S.) or equivalent in medical laboratory technology (MLT) or related field required. Bachelor's degree (B.A./B.S.) or equivalent in medical technology (MT) desired.
* Experience: 2-3 years of experience in a clinical pathology laboratory.
* An equivalent combination of education and experience may be accepted as a satisfactory substitute for the specific education and experience listed above.
* Certification/Licensure: MT or MLT with certification or certification-eligible (ASCP or HEW) preferred.
* Other: Experience with computer software programs is desirable. Effective organizational and leadership skills desired.

The Lab Tech will conduct a variety of lab operations and QC testing activities including the analysis of raw ore, finished product QC testing, and complaint samples to support quality issues. Tests to be done may include optical microscopy or SEM, physical testing, XRF total chemistry and spectroscopy via ICP-OES. The role will prepare samples, operate and maintain laboratory instruments, collaborate and support the plants, production and mining, document experimental procedures and document results, and troubleshoot equipment issues. Role requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, initiative and a passion for laboratory work. Prefer some experience in chemistry and testing of inorganic materials.
High School Diploma or GED.
Must have a minimum of 1 year lab experience including analytical testing experience.
The ideal candidate should have experience operating/maintaining/troubleshooting lab equipment.
History of building collaborative relationships.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge and experience with safe industrial laboratory procedures including chemical handling.
Willing to learn fields of minerals, filtration, coatings, and milling.
Proficient computer and office skills.
Sample preparation.
Perform testing using standardized test methods (e.g. analysis of surface area, particle size, structure, rheology, color, moisture, XRF and soluble chemistry density etc.).
Collaborate with quality managers and technical service to document procedures and results for complaint investigations.
Maintain a safe and clean workplace environment (5S methodology and housekeeping).
Work with technical and quality team members on complaint investigations and write reports.
Maintain a laboratory equipment and notebook to properly document data results.

Job Description

Job Description Cath Lab Technician Shift Notes: 07:00 - 17:00 Pay: $50 to $53 depending on experience. The schedule is 4 x 10 hrs shifts, 7a-5p, plus call: one week night per week (14 hrs)
one full weekend (Fri-Sun) every two weeks.
Our lab does diagnostic, PCI, EP, devices, and a little bit of structural.
The Cath Lab Technologist assists physicians in the performance of diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization, electrophysiology, and other cardiovascular procedures. The technologist operates specialized imaging and monitoring equipment, ensures patient safety and comfort, and maintains a sterile environment during procedures.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare the catheterization laboratory and patient for procedures by ensuring all necessary equipment, supplies, and instruments are available and functioning properly.
Assist the cardiologist during diagnostic and interventional procedures such as angioplasty, stent placement, pacemaker implantation, and electrophysiology studies.
Operate fluoroscopy, hemodynamic monitoring, and recording equipment to capture and analyze images and data during procedures.
Maintain strict sterile technique and assist in the setup and breakdown of sterile fields.
Monitor patient vital signs and electrocardiograms (ECG) throughout the procedure, reporting changes to the physician promptly.
Administer contrast media and medications under physician supervision, following hospital protocols.
Document procedure details, patient data, and equipment usage accurately in the electronic medical record.
Ensure radiation safety practices for patients, staff, and self.
Maintain equipment through regular cleaning, calibration, and preventive maintenance checks.
Participate in emergency call rotation as required.
Support quality assurance, inventory control, and continuous improvement initiatives within the Cath Lab.
Qualifications:
Education: Associates or Bachelors degree in Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or a related field.
Licensure/Certification:
Certs REQ: BCLS, ARRT, Flouro Permit, CA license
Current ARRT (R) or RCIS certification required.
State radiologic technologist license
BLS and ACLS certification required.
