We are looking for a dedicated Lab Technician to prepare samples for analytical and microbiological testing of food products, ingredients, and environmental samples. This role is responsible for applying approved microbiological techniques and methodologies to ensure quality and safety.
Responsibilities
Prepare samples for indicator organisms, pathogens, and chemistries.
Apply aseptic techniques in daily workload.
Maintain media and reagents as needed for daily microbiological testing.
Inventory and report expendable supplies/materials needed for testing requirements.
Provide routine preventive maintenance by daily cleaning, sanitizing, and trash disposal.
Perform quality control monitoring by taking incubator temperatures, inoculating control organisms, running media controls, etc.
Independently pursue an assigned series of processes, procedures, or tasks in accordance with policies/procedures and customer requirements.
Maintain laboratory condition, including equipment, supplies, quality assurance programs, and accurate records throughout all procedures.
Perform all activities in a neat, safe, hygienic, and efficient manner.
Share information in an open and timely manner.
Essential Skills

* Processes and analyzes blood, urine, tissue, body fluid, and other specimens. Performs waived, moderately complex, and/or high complexity testing using manual or automated methods. Maintains competency in microbiology and/or blood transfusion, as appropriate, to ensure patient needs are met.
* Applies critical thinking to ensure quality outcomes meet regulatory agency requirements (CLIA, CAP, Joint Commission, etc.). Assists with regulatory compliance including policy and procedure writing and review.
* Recognizes and communicates deviations in technical, quality of specimen, or quality control processes to ensure accurate resulting. Takes action and knows when to escalate as appropriate.
* Reports lab results electronically, verbally, and through written documentation. Appropriately documents quality control processes and quality assurance as required.
* Is responsible for the accurate use and maintenance of lab equipment. Assists with method validations and implementation of current and new instruments and assays.
* Performs complex processes that may include collecting bone marrow, performing and staining pathology frozen specimens, performing EKGs, processing and resulting send outs, and resulting moderately complex testing.
* Obtains specimens from inpatients and outpatients following proper identification protocols and appropriate techniques to maintain the integrity of the specimens. Prioritizes collection to meet established turnaround times.
* Provides training for new lab and non-lab team members to retain top talent.
* Maintains supplies and assists with inventory and ordering to ensure the availability of supplies to perform patient care responsibilities.
* Performs special specimen collections (i.e., legal specimen collections) to support patient testing and follow up as required by law.

The Neenah Innovation Center Analytical Laboratory provides chemical and materials testing to support technology research, product development and manufacturing process improvement in North America and globally.
Level 1: Possess basic abilities and knowledge to perform the below. Typically: requires additional leadership support for basic to intermediate issues, executes requested lab analysis by applying known methods to measure physical properties, and supports the maintenance of basic, standard lab equipment.
WHAT YOU GET TO DO
Independently follow testing protocol, applying known methods to help solve problems
Follow American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM) and internal methods to complete physical property testing
Record test results appropriately and prepare reports for interpretation.
Support communications of key updates to stakeholders - primarily within R&D.
Be responsible for basic testing equipment, including cleaning, verification and/or calibration. Examples include micrometers and optical property test equipment.
Train other lab users on assigned testing equipment and test methods, including safety protocols
Maintain clean work area and routinely assist in cleaning and organizing the laboratory
Suggest possible test method improvements based on training and observations. Work with leader or more senior technicians to implement the changes.
Provide back up for other lab team members.
May support special projects as assigned.
Build strong internal customer support brand through service excellence and positive engagement.

The City of Fond du Lac is accepting applications for the position of WTRRF Lab Supervisor. This full-time position reports directly to the WTRRF General Manager and will oversee an organized laboratory and analysis program to ensure all analysts are performing to the standards established by the Department of Natural Resources.
The primary purpose is to supervise (1) full-time and (2) part-time lab analysts and to perform, review, and approve all analyses, QA/QC, and data for permit compliance and billing purposes.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Communicate directly with the WTRRF General Manager about analysis, data, billing, and staff
* Thorough knowledge of regulatory codes and DNR compliance - NR 149, NR219, Standard Methods
* Maintain State Lab Certification - Perform Quality Control Testing
* Organize and maintain all files required as a Certified Lab
* Responsible for all lab operations, organization, and cleanliness
* Vendor Communication - request pricing for equipment and supplies. Mercury Minimization Program.
* Lab Maintenance and QA/QC - In accordance with NR149, perform LOD/LOQ studies, instrument calibrations, bench sheet preparation, solution prep and standardization, write and revise SOP's, and maintain lab inventory
* Lab Sample Collection, Analysis, and Data Entry and Review - using Hach Wims
* Administrative Asst. Communication - purchasing for the lab, data review for hauler, industry, and OSG billing
* Lead Trainer for Lab Equipment Operation, Sampling, and Analysis
* Staff Responsibility - Conduct performance evaluations, maintain lab staffing schedule, fill in on Sundays/holidays as needed
* Budget - Review and update O&M costs, consider future increases and/or changes in analysis to propose a budget
* WTRRF Safety Representative - Safety audit SDS sheets, confined space, and lockout/tagout forms. Perform gas detector maintenance and training, attend bimonthly safety meetings, review and sign confined space entry permits, and ensure proper control of hazardous materials in the lab
Qualifications
* 4-year degree in biology, chemistry, or related field. 4-5 years of hands-on progressive wastewater and laboratory experience with 2-3 years in a supervisory/leadership role preferred
* Possession of a valid Wisconsin Driver's License.
* DNR Operators License: Laboratory (L) required at hire. Subclasses: A1, B, C, D, N, P within the first year of hire
HOURS: MON-THURS: 5:30 am - 3 pm
FRI: 7:30 am - 11:30 am
