Retina Consultants of Texas (RCTX) is seeking an Ophthalmic Techncian to join our innovative team with the mission of Fighting Blindness For The World To See. This position will be responsible for providing accurate documentation, summarization of patient's medical history, and performing preliminary ocular examination. The Technician is responsible for maintaining patient flow and communication regarding appointment status to patients and Clinic Managers at the Beaumont Clinic. Candidates must be able to travel to various clinics to meet the needs of the patients and providers, and support the Clinic hours of Monday through Friday between the hours of 6:30am-6:30pm. Schedules are provided weekly and are based on the provider's clinic, patient and surgery schedules. Clinic staff are provided with the opportunity for weekend hours if available. Responsibilities Obtains patient history to include chief complaint, history of present illness, patient and family history of both ocular and general illnesses, history of allergies, and current medications. Accurately performs and documents visual acuity, confrontational visual fields, evaluation of motility, pupillary function tests, dilation, and ocular tonometry. Provide compassionate patient care throughout the clinic flow Performing opening and closing duties; inventory count, prepping drugs as needed, sterile instruments. Maintains cleanliness in exam and procedure rooms. Maintains back up levels of supply stock in exam and procedure rooms. Provides back-up to the ophthalmic photographer performing OCT's Contacts patients who have no showed to appointments and reschedule as needed. Maintains a smooth flow of patients to the physician, altering the test sequence as needed. Troubleshoots equipment as necessary; projector, tonopen, autoclave. Occasionally assists physician with laser procedures, injections, and minor procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Qualifications Skills/Competencies: Ability to perform comprehensive work ups Ability to educate patients regarding instillation of eye drops and other instructions related to physician's treatment plan.
