Professional Pathology of Wyoming (“PPW”) is a physician-led, pathology group serving patients throughout Wyoming. PPW is affiliated with Sagis Diagnostics, a physician-led, subspecialty pathology group headquartered in Houston, Texas. PPW operates a CAP accredited histology lab in Casper, Wyoming that delivers the highest-quality pathology services to physicians, physician groups, hospitals and other health care providers across the Wyoming region.
Job Duties:
In general, a Laboratory Aide is expected to assist as needed in all aspects of PPW's laboratory operations. Primary duties of a Laboratory Aide include the following, and time spent on some or all of these duties may vary on a day-to-day or weekly basis:
Accessioning:
Accessioning specimens received from clients is a key aspect of this position. On a daily basis, the following duties are required to be performed in a timely manner and as a priority, unless otherwise specified by the Laboratory Supervisor.
• Make sure the proper request forms have been used and properly identify the patient's full name, DOB, tissue site, date of collection, and ordering physician's name.
• Make sure the specimen bottle matches the requisition form by properly identifying the patient's name, tissue site, date of collection, and ordering physician's name • Make sure there is a complete demographic form.
• Enter data into PPW's Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• If any of the above information is missing or does not match, return the specimen and requisition form to the sender with a request for completion, or call the client and request the necessary information for completion.
Technical Laboratory Support:
• Provide support/back-up to the Histology Department for histology coverage for the performing histotechnician or histotechnologist as needed and delegated by the Laboratory Supervisor.
• Maintain the various logs including special stains/deeper levels requests, H&E/special stains quality, microscope verification and routine maintenance, corrective action log for accessioning and grossing specimens.
• Assist with ensuring routine maintenance of the equipment in the lab.
• Assist the Histology department with other routine work as needed.
• Make sure slides are filed properly, including ensuring proper labels are affixed to slides.
• Follow policies and procedures to properly package and ship specimens.
• Package and ship biopsy specimens when needed.
• Follow universal precautions and all OSHA standards when handling specimens.
Courier Support:
• Provide courier coverage as needed and delegated by the Laboratory Supervisor.
• Deliver and pick up medical records, lab specimens, and other materials to and from clinics, hospitals, and/or other medical facilities.
• Maintain Logbook of all specimens. Track the biopsies and ensure the clinic receives all the results- Ensure test results match the logbooks.
Other Assigned Tasks - General PPW Expectations:
• Perform other tasks in the laboratory as requested by the Laboratory Supervisor.
• Handling and directing telephone and other incoming and outgoing laboratory communication as needed.
• Adhere to all PPW Standard Operating Procedures.
• Demonstrate customer service & compassion when interacting with patients, physicians, and clinic staff.

Job Responsibilities
Prepare patients, equipment, and instruments for cardiac catheterization and electrophysiology procedures.
Assist physicians during invasive cardiovascular procedures by operating specialized imaging and monitoring equipment.
Monitor and record patient vitals and procedural data accurately and in real time.
Maintain a sterile environment and ensure adherence to infection control protocols.
Ensure accurate documentation and proper handling of patient data and procedural images.
Perform post-procedure cleanup, equipment checks, and restocking of supplies.
Support emergency response efforts including crash cart readiness and resuscitation procedures.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and support staff to ensure seamless patient care.
Qualifications
Associate or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology, Cardiovascular Technology, or related discipline.
Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS), ARRT (CI), or similar certification required.
Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
At least 1-2 years of experience working in a cath lab preferred.
