This hospital is also a teaching hospital and offers residency-training programs as well advanced training for nursing students.
This hospital is looking to hire a permanent and full time, experienced Medical Technologist OR Medical Laboratory Scientist or either day, evening or night shift (with flexibility!) in the Core Laboratory and Microbiology. They can also accommodate 5x8s, 4x10s or 7on/7off shifts! For consideration, applicants must have a Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology (or a related field) as well as previous experience in the core laboratory (chemistry, hematology, urinalysis etc..). In addition, applicants MUST have a certification as a MT OR MLS by the Board of Registry of ASCP.

Job Summary
This position will assist in teaching undergraduate students Health Assessment and Clinical Skills as well as maintenance of the Simulation Lab and supplies
Responsibilities
* Provide instruction to prelicensure BSN students on health assessment techniques and clinical skills.
* Maintain equipment in the lab.
* Set up simulation rooms for various simulation scenarios for prelicensure students.
* Restock simulation supplies in the lab.
* Perform other Simulation Lab duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
* A Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree
* Licensed as an RN (registered nurse) in Georgia with an unrestricted license.
* Three years of experience working as an RN
* Ability to teach undergraduate students health assessment techniques and clinical skills.
* Knowledge of routine equipment used in the hospital setting
Proposed Salary
Salary is commensurate to experience and education and includes a tuition waiver. This position can work up to 19 hours per week.

Collaborate with the laboratory and health care professionals, as well as clinical affiliations and administrative teams, to facilitate superior patient care. Responsible for the efficient, accurate identification and technical analysis of various constituents or organisms present in the human body that may be responsible for and/or related to disease.
Position Responsibilities:
* Follow laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing, test, analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
* Demonstrate proficiency in testing and troubleshooting across relevant departments.
* Review and release test results with regard to proper quality control guidelines.
* Follow CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA and safety guidelines.
* Maintain accurate records of testing, quality control activities, and instrument calibrations. Identify and address problems that may adversely affect test performance or result reporting. Escalate issue by immediately notifying the senior technologist, supervisor, or lab director when necessary.
* Document and communicate all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratorys established performance specifications.
* Participate in training sessions and stay updated on new procedures and protocols.
* Support safety training sessions and regulatory inspections when necessary.
* If needed, participate in government, state, TJC, and any other regulatory agency inspections.
* Maintain awareness of inventory control to prevent overuse of supplies. Conducts supply inventory as required.
* Assist in training and supervising department employees.
* Assist in implementing Quality Assurance Programs and assist with inventory control measures.
* Support supervisors/Lab Director in various projects as required.
* Serve as a general supervisor as required.
* Participate in Proficiency Testing surveys as required.

Setting is a Level II trauma facility

Day shifts with a schedule of 5x8 hour shifts from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM
Unit-provided scrubs
Float within the facility and within the scope of practice as needed
Call duties are assigned in a four-person call team with every other weekend rotation
Weekend work is every other weekend unless otherwise specified
Must be able to float within the facility based on clinical scope and needs
Holiday coverage is required; if one major holiday falls during the assignment, must work it; if two, must work both; if three, must work two
Maximum of 7 days of requested time off allowed; no RTO during the first week of assignment
Compliance with pre-start requirements is necessary for on-time orientation; orientation is scheduled bi-weekly
Locals are accepted at the same rate
Travelers must be away from all Piedmont facilities for at least one year to be eligible for return as a traveler
If a traveler is not eligible to return to a facility, completion of one successful assignment outside the system is required before rebooking
Travel pairs are not permitted to work the same shift on the same unit
