Up to $5,000 Sign-On bonus based on experience Position Summary A medical technologist has the appropriate educational background to perform laboratory procedures on neonatal, pediatric, and adult specimens using established and approved protocols that require the broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision, maintains equipment and records, and performs quality assurance activities related to test performance. Performs a variety of laboratory tests on blood, tissue and body fluids using both automated and manual methods. A technologist performs a broad range of laboratory procedures in one or more areas such as chemistry, hematology, immunology, immunohematology or microbiology. Ensures the delivery of quality laboratory services and accurate, timely reporting of lab test results which meets the standards of practice, established policies and procedures, and applicable laws and regulations at West Boca Medical Center and/or off site at West Boca Emergency Center. The BMT Processing Lab technologist is responsible for performing minimal manipulation of cellular therapy products in compliance with FACT standards and institutional protocols. This role ensures accurate processing, labeling, documentation, and quality control of hematopoietic stem cell products for transplantation. The estimated pay range for this position is $34.08 - $44.30 / hour, depending on experience. Degrees: * Bachelors. Join our dynamic laboratory team as a Medical Technologist, where you will play a crucial role in patient care by preparing and testing patient samples. Your expertise will ensure the accuracy and reliability of laboratory results using advanced techniques and equipment. Responsibilities * Prepare patient samples for testing and determine the acceptability of specimens and results. * Repeat specimen testing as necessary to ensure accuracy. * Perform Hematology, Chemistry, and Urinalysis testing. * Conduct laboratory tests and procedures using techniques such as ELISA, RNA extraction, and flow cytometry. * Execute a variety of manual, semi-automated, and automated Biochemical, Hematological, Microbiological, and/or Blood Bank analyses on varied patient specimens. * Maintain, calibrate, operate, and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation to ensure proper functionality. * Accurately prepare, label, and store reagents, standards, controls, and specimens for analysis. * Report accurate and timely test results to deliver quality patient care. * Participate in quality assurance and quality improvement activities. * Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary. * Recognize normal, abnormal, unusual, and critical results and take appropriate action as established by laboratory policy. * Verify accuracy of results and initiate corrective action when indicated. Essential Skills * Bachelor's degree in Biology, Chemistry, Medical Technology, or other related science. * Certification in Medical Technology, Medical Lab Science, or Clinical Laboratory Science from recognized certifying bodies. * Ability to work independently and within a team environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications * Blood bank experience is required. * Experience working in a hospital or clinical laboratory. * Ability to interpret test results and apply them to patient care. * Proficiency in one of the following areas: hematology, clinical chemistry, coagulation, urinalysis, or microscopy. * Certified Medical Technologist (MT), Medical Lab Scientist (MLS), or Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS).
