Job Description
One of the largest laboratory organizations in the country with locations across the nation is seeking two travel medical technologists to test as generalists for 26-week assignments in their Evansville, IN location. This facility is a 384-bed level II Trauma Center.
Shift: Nights, 10 pm - 6:30 am CST with rotating holidays and weekends
Duration: 10/06/2025 - 4/6/2026
Weekly Pay: $2,200

Job Summary:
Discover the presence or absence of disease and provide data that help physicians determine the best treatment for the patient. Specialty areas of laboratory medicine include clinical chemistry, hematology, transfusion services, clinical immunology, clinical microbiology, serology and the emerging field of molecular diagnostics.
Skill Requirements:
Calibrate, operate, troubleshoot and maintain the equipment
Dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are required to collect and prepare specimens
Lab safety and infection prevention is of paramount importance
Responsibilities may include but not be limited to:
Performing testing in any and/or all of the following areas of the lab: clinical chemistry, hematology, transfusion services (blood bank), clinical immunology, clinical microbiology, serology, and the emerging field of molecular diagnostics.
Matching computer orders with specimen labeling; sorting specimens; checking labeling; logging specimens; arranging reports for delivery; Maintaining quality results verify and equipment function, troubleshooting, calibrating equipment and monitoring quality control measures and protocols
Participating in staff training and educational opportunities; Identifying and communicating abnormal patient conditions reports mandated information to the public health department or other designated officials
Contributing to a safe and secure environment, following established standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations
Maintaining patient confidence by keeping laboratory information confidential

Perform a variety of complex medical laboratory tests in all areas of the laboratory assigned (hematology, immunohematology, immunology, coagulation, bacteriology, microscopy, routine chemistry, therapeutic drug monitoring) for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease and illness.
* Performs phlebotomies, including capillary punctures and venipunctures, and collects blood samples as appropriate for the patient and procedure.
* Processes specimens utilizing established protocols and technical knowledge.
* Conducts chemical analysis of body fluids (e.g., blood, urine, spinal fluid) and other biological materials to determine the presence of normal or abnormal components, chemical content, or reactions.
* Cultivates, isolates, and identifies microbial organisms, and performs various tests on these microorganisms.
* Analyzes laboratory findings and test results to ensure accuracy.
* Calibrates, standardizes, and maintains laboratory instruments following established procedures, including performing quality control, preventive maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure proper functioning of instruments, reagents, and procedures.
* Validates and reports test results, delivering patient reports according to policy and collection manual timelines.
* Provides technical information about test results to physicians and other medical personnel.
* Assesses personnel competency, conducts training, and evaluates testing personnel annually; trains and mentors lab assistants, medical laboratory technicians, and students engaged in laboratory testing.
* Responsible for collecting, investigating and reviewing Quality Management Data.
Shift: Rotational schedule with other staff. May be required to work any day of the week including holidays and weekends, or other shifts.
Requirements:
* Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology, or a closely-related field.
* ASCP certification as a Medical Laboratory Scientist.
* 3 years experience in a Medical Laboratory Technologist role in secondary/tertiary hospital lab settings.
* Demonstrated knowledge of clinical microscopy, clinical chemistry, hematology, blood banking, immunology and serology, and microbiology.
