    The Pathologist Tissue Technician is responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to autopsy, surgical pathology, and intraoperative consultations. This role involves preparing bodies for autopsy, dictating clinical summaries, dissecting specimens, and preparing slides for pathologist review. Responsibilities + Prepare bodies and set up for autopsy, including cleaning post-autopsy. + Dictate gross descriptions and clinical summaries during autopsies. + Dissect and display organs for pathologist examination, and submit tissue sections for processing. + Perform gross examination and description of surgical specimens, including dissection and ordering stains per protocol. + Prepare and submit specimens into cassettes. + Prepare tissue for intraoperative consultations and create frozen section slides. + Assist in bone marrow aspirations, biopsies, FNAs, and other studies, and submit smears to the pathologist. + Process pathology samples by verifying patient identification, accessioning specimens, and resolving discrepancies. + Track specimens and prepare them for transportation. + Maintain cleanliness and order in the morgue and cutting room, handle chemical waste, and manage supplies. + Manage overdue reports, file tissue slides and cards, and troubleshoot equipment. + Communicate effectively with patients, clinicians, and hospital staff. + Prepare data and reports for quality assurance activities and maintain departmental records.
