Adheres to the general hospital standards to promote a cooperative work environment by utilizing communication skills, interpersonal relationships and team building.
Processes and screens cytologic specimens according to procedure and screens microscopic slides for diagnostic evaluation.
Issues diagnostic reports on cytologic material.
Issues final diagnostic reports on negative GYN cases and provides preliminary diagnoses on all remaining cases that are evaluated further by a Pathologist.
Performs and documents quality control and quality assurance activities appropriately.

Maintains identification of patient specimens while processing.

Uses engineering controls, work practice controls and appropriate personal protective equipment as indicated in the section task list.

Performs work without allowing personal situation/perspectives to compromise lab operations.
Adjusts schedule to meet changes in workload or at the direction of the manager.
Schedules appointments on days off when possible.
Exhibits and promotes the professional image of laboratories in accordance with hospital, department, and professional society philosophies, goals and standards of laboratory testing.
Provides age appropriate FNA collection in accordance with age specific guidelines for neonates, infants, toddlers, pre-schoolers, school age, adolescents, early adults, middle adults and/or late adults.
Demonstrates knowledge of age specific factors as necessary to assist in performance of fine needle aspiration.
Utilizes knowledge of age specific data and modifies approaches for identified patients

The following are duties that may be designated by the CLIA Director to the Technical Supervisor or the Technical Consultant: Evaluate/select test methodology that is appropriate and capable of providing the quality of results; and ensure verification of the test procedures and establishment of the laboratory's test performance characteristics, including the precision and accuracy of each test and test system.
Resolve technical problems and ensure that remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
Ensures that test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is functioning properly.
Identifies training needs and ensures that each individual performing tests has been appropriately trained and receives regular in-service training and education appropriate for the type and complexity of the laboratory services performed.
Also ensures competency evaluation of all testing personnel and assures that staff maintain their competency to perform their job functions.
Ensures an approved and current procedure manual is available to all personnel.
All procedures related to laboratory equipment are current, have maintenance and quality control steps, and reflect applicable manufacturer operating requirements and guidelines.
SOP manuals contain the current versions of manufacturer inserts.
Review of SOPs is performed and changes are implemented in a timely manner.
Establish a quality control program appropriate for testing performed and establish parameters for acceptable levels of analytic performance, ensuring that these levels are maintained throughout the entire testing process from the initial receipt of the specimen, through sample analysis and result reporting.
Ensures the enrollment and participation in an HHS-approved proficiency testing (PT) program commensurate with the services offered.
Ensures PT samples are tested in accordance with the CLIA requirements, PT results are returned within the time frames established by the PT program, PT reports are reviewed by the appropriate staff, and corrective action plans are followed when PT results are found to be unacceptable or unsatisfactory.

The Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) is responsible to provide comprehensive health services to DOS, DOD, and contractor personnel stationed in Iraq. The MLT performs lab tests and procedures, mostly comprising of microscopic, bacteriological, hematologic, immunologic, and chemical diagnostic analyses on samples of tissue, blood, urine, stool, synovial fluid and semen. The MLT looks for clues to the absence, presence, and extent of the causes and progression of diseases through accurate and efficient lab tests.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect and process biological specimens for laboratory testing.
Conduct routine and specialized tests in hematology, microbiology, chemistry, and blood bank.
Maintain laboratory equipment and troubleshoot any technical issues.
Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean laboratory environment.
Record and report test results accurately and in a timely manner.
Collaborate with pathologists and other medical staff to interpret results and ensure quality patient care.
Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Actively participates in Mass Casualty exercises and events.
Completes required organizational compliance education, including assigned requirements that are client-specified, for Joint Commission Healthcare Staffing Services certification or other regulatory bodies.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements/Certifications:
Minimum of 3 years recent experience as Medical Laboratory Technician including 6 months within the last year.
Certified as a medical laboratory technician through the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP), the American Medical Technologists (AMT), the National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel (NCALP) or the Board of Registry of the American Association of Bioanalysis (AAB).
Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Must be able to read, write and speak English to effectively communicate.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
Experience on a military site working as a government subcontractor or prime contractor is preferred.
Education Required:
Associate's degree in medical laboratory technology or related field.

Performs imaging procedures/treatments according to cardiac catheterization lab practice standards in order to aid in the diagnosis and/or treatment of disease.
Assist with procedure scheduling and preprocedure patient education/instructions when necessary
Prepares the patient for the procedure and monitors, positions and assists patient during procedure
Assists the physician throughout the procedure
Assesses the procedure room for equipment functioning and readiness.
Safely operates cath/EP support equipment for all procedures performed in lab.
Cleans and calibrates equipment
Follows proper infection control procedures
Communicates with the physician and other staff members about patient condition as needed.
Using the electronic medical record, performs procedural documentation for all procedures performed in the cardiovascular/EP labs in a timely manner.
Maintains department inventory
Ensures that department is adequately equipped; keeping supplies organized
Orders supplies as per procedure
Assists in departmental performance Improvement activities including collecting and documenting quality improvement initiatives.
Ensures high quality service in compliance with all federal, state and local accrediting bodies
rules, regulations, statutes, requirements, and standards including TJC, measured through
quality control, performance improvement and customer satisfaction survey results.

Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Must be a Registered Nurse, Cardiovasular Tech or Radiology Technologist.
Must have a current Georgia license/certification in respective field.
Computer proficiency required.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Scrubbing with be required in this role, experience preferred.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Previous experience in Cardiac Catheterization and/or EP lab.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
Current Georgia License in respective field.

Role Responsibilities: Responsible for performing testing in accordance with established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), applicable sections of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFRs), with emphasis on Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), the Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act of 1988 (CLIA), and applicable Takeda and BioLife policies, procedures, and quality initiatives.

Responsible for sample management, test performance, quality control, result review, result reporting, and equipment maintenance such that accurate and appropriate sample testing is performed, completed, and reported in a timely manner.
Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting, and maintaining records of donor test results.
Test and maintain records that demonstrate proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as donor samples.
Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations, and maintenance performed.
Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or the reporting of test results, and either correct the problems or immediately notify the laboratory management.
Follow the laboratory's established corrective action policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
Participate in operational excellence initiatives and projects to drive a culture of continuous improvement to achieve site operational excellence goals (including but not limited to 5S, Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen).
