**Job Summary and Qualifications**
As a Medical Laboratory Scientist at our facility you will be an integral part of our Laboratory team. We are a highly functioning team that supports many different departments and has a passion for providing the best patient care through compassionate, professional interactions and reliable testing. In this role:
· You will be responsible for receiving blood specimens, performing blood tests, and studying the morphology of the components of blood.
· You will perform various routine or special clinical laboratory tests in one or more sections of the Laboratory using automated equipment, manual testing, and microscopic analysis to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
· You will be responsible for maintaining and using various equipment in the Laboratory including automated, chemistry analyzers, ion-specific electrodes, osmometers, and other analyzers.
· You will perform antibody screening, antibody identification, and cross-matching procedures required in the administration of blood/blood components and identify antibodies in donors or patient's blood that could react adversely during transfusion.
· You will notify nursing units and/or physicians of critical lab values.
· You will implement new testing methods, products, and instrumentation as appropriate to keep department current with technology.
Qualifications:
· Graduate of an accredited Medical Technology program (Associate's degree acceptable) and/or a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology with appropriate certification (may be hired prior to graduation upon completion of required course work for graduation).
· Nationally recognized certification as a Medical Technologist (MT/MLS or MLT) from the American Society for Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent.
o This licensure must be completed within 1 year of hire.
· One year of experience working in a hospital or other clinical laboratory setting is preferred; new graduates will be considered.
· American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Performs routine laboratory test procedures as outlined in the laboratory standard operating procedure manuals and reports test results. Adheres to quality assurance and quality control procedures in performing all testing.
Correlates clinical information and/or previous lab results and reports discrepancies to the Department Lead or Laboratory Supervisor. Consults with the Department Lead or Laboratory Supervisor when no preset criterion for decision-making is available before taking action.
Collects and directs the collection of specimens with rigid attention to proper patient identification, priority status and hospital and laboratory safety and infection control policies for clinical testing
Maintains and operates lab equipment; able to detect malfunctions as they occur by review of instruments results. Troubleshoots the problem with technologist or service representative assistance
Ensures appropriate lab supplies are always on hand in their assigned area or department
May be rotated to other lab departments or shifts as necessary (Chemistry, Blood Bank, Hematology/Coagulation, and Microbiology)
Trains or instructs laboratory personnel in performance of lab tests and procedures where assigned
Participates in established Quality Management activities, QC testing of lab reagents and maintenance of equipment. Follows protocol for running and documenting control values. Collects, evaluates, and reports quality management data in order to monitor and improve laboratory performance
Attends and participates in continuing education programs to monitor proficiency, expand current knowledge and enhance professional excellence. Willingly shares knowledge and provides clinical orientation to other members of the lab team.
Trains students from affiliated programs or new employees as assigned
Works closely with all laboratory personnel to ensure timely client service and accurate test results
Participates in Job Competency/Skills Check program
Maintains open communication with supervisors, pathologists, and fellow employees to ensure optimal operation of department. Communicates pertinent information to other members of the health care team in a clinically relevant time frame to enhance the lab's contribution to patient care
Delivers age appropriate care for the patient population. Maintains strict confidentiality in all situations and with all documentation
Writes and updates laboratory procedures under supervision as required
Adheres to safety, confidentiality, compliance and legal requirements
Maintains consistent and reliable attendance and complies with company guidelines on attendance
Performs other duties and tasks that promote smooth operations.

Qualifications
Education/Certification: BS in Medical Technology/Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Laboratory Science with MLS/MT/CLS national certification or equivalent. Current BLS Certification. Valid driver's license. New graduates must be registry eligible & sit for the board of certification exam within 6 months of hire. Must obtain a national certification within 1 year of hire.
Experience: 1-2 years preferred, including a practical training program. Previous experience in microbiology and blood banking is desirable
Equipment/Technology: Basic computer knowledge (Word and Excel) and skills in lab information systems
Language/Communication: Ability to read and communicate (oral and written) effectively in English. Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely.

IR/Cath Lab Technologist
Pre-procedure duties consist of checking clinically important aspects related to the patient entering into the IR/cath lab.
Assists with the interventional radiologist or cardiologist with diagnostic angiographic procedures, cardiac catheterization, as well as complex vascular and nonvascular interventional and therapeutic procedures.
Assist in scrub, circulate, and monitor as needed.
Prepares patient and all necessary equipment for procedure, operates needed equipment.
Produces high quality medical imaging through the use of cine-radiography using the ALARA methodology under direct supervision of Physician.
Posts and processes all exams prior to transferring images to PACS.
Navigates workstations regarding image retrieval and archiving.
Responsible for having all necessary supplies and x-ray equipment ready and available for each assigned case in collaboration with the IR/Cath lab Registered Nurse.
Collaborates with physicians and other health employees in coordinating the plan of care and facilitating patient outcomes.
Provides care based on established standards of practice, policies and protocols.
Demonstrates critical thinking skills for problem solving and anticipating patient care needs.

Job Summary and Qualifications
As a Medical Laboratory Scientist at our facility you will be an integral part of our Laboratory team. We are a highly functioning team that supports many different departments and has a passion for providing the best patient care through compassionate, professional interactions and reliable testing. In this role:
* You will be responsible for receiving blood specimens, performing blood tests, and studying the morphology of the components of blood.
* You will perform various routine or special clinical laboratory tests in one or more sections of the Laboratory using automated equipment, manual testing, and microscopic analysis to obtain data for use in diagnosis and treatment of disease.
* You will be responsible for maintaining and using various equipment in the Laboratory including automated, chemistry analyzers, ion-specific electrodes, osmometers, and other analyzers.
* You will perform antibody screening, antibody identification, and cross-matching procedures required in the administration of blood/blood components and identify antibodies in donors or patient's blood that could react adversely during transfusion.
* You will notify nursing units and/or physicians of critical lab values.
* You will implement new testing methods, products, and instrumentation as appropriate to keep department current with technology.
Qualifications:
* Graduate of an accredited Medical Technology program (Associate's degree acceptable) and/or a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology, Chemistry, or Biology with appropriate certification (may be hired prior to graduation upon completion of required course work for graduation).
* Nationally recognized certification as a Medical Technologist (MT/MLS or MLT) from the American Society for Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent.
o This licensure must be completed within 1 year of hire.
* One year of experience working in a hospital or other clinical laboratory setting is preferred; new graduates will be considered.
* American Red Cross or American Heart Association Basic Life Support Course (BLS or BCLS) and Certification.

Collect routine and specialty testing patient specimens and ensure proper patient identification and labeling of specimens. Provide excellent customer service on the phone and in person to all patients, doctors and other medical staff. Assists providers in care, medical record documentation, and treatment of patients. Obtain and process doctors orders. Work well under pressure. Follow all applicable hospital / laboratory policies and procedures. Must be able to prioritize specimens (STAT, ASAP, Routine, Pre-op, etc.), multitask, and be flexible in order to accommodate the needs of the laboratory and clinic.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Lab Assistant-Clinic:
1. Be proficient and timely in the collection of blood samples and other body fluids, ensuring proper patient identification and labeling of samples.
2. Welcomes patients by greeting them, in person or on the phone
3. Prepares patients for health care visit by directing and or accompanying them to the exam room; provides examination gowns or shorts; assists them to position themselves, arranges exam room, instruments, supplies and equipment.
4. Supports patient care by assisting providers during exam; completes records by recording examination, treatment and test results. Relays treatment plan to checkout receptionist.
5. Follow all applicable hospital / laboratory policies and procedures to include, but not limited to patient identification, specimen collection, specimen rejection, specimen labeling, and specimen stability.
6. Be proficient in the utilization of order of draw when collecting blood specimens.
7. Knowledge of ordering, stocking and rotating laboratory supplies.
8. Provide competent and quality clinical care to all patients.
a. Adherence by staff to all policies and procedures to include the employee handbook.
b. Provides age appropriate care.
c. Reporting of patient and staff incidents through the occurrence report process.
d. Monitoring and management of formal complaints.
9. Comply with standard precautions by using personal protective equipment as required.
10. Develop, utilize, and maintain professional relationships within our organization and its affiliates.
a. Maintain effective working relationships between nursing, clerical, medical and allied health staff.
11. Performs miscellaneous tasks that promote smooth operations.
12. Other duties as deemed necessary.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification: High School Diploma or higher. Current BLS Certification. Valid drivers license.
Experience: Phlebotomy course and/or phlebotomy experience preferred.
Equipment/Technology: Experience with computers and office equipment, required.
Language/Communication: Must be able to read and communicate (oral and written) effectively in English. Must be able to communicate clearly and concisely.
Mathematical Skills: General Math skills.
Mental Capabilities: Can frequently and consistently make sound judgments. Must be organized, multi-tasker, and a critical thinker.
Interpersonal: Excellent communication skills, and ability to work well with others. Be a team player and flexible.
Performance: Can work well under pressure. Excellent customer service skills. Complete all tasks with minimal error and in a timely manner.

Seeking a Full Time (permanent) Medical Technologist to join a great team in the Teton Valley area.
The Medical Lab Scientist is responsible for the collection and processing of laboratory specimens as well as the reporting of results and preparation of reports at the CLIA moderate complexity level. This position maintains laboratory records, follows laboratory policies and procedures and maintains quality control practices. The Medical Lab Scientist demonstrates support of the Health Care's mission, values and vision in all actions and interactions with employees, patients, medical staff, and visitors.
Requirements:
Medical Lab Scientist Duties & Responsibilities:
Correctly collects and prepares human samples for analysis. Prepares, stores and transports samples using appropriate methods.
Correctly and accurately performs a variety of tests in the clinical laboratory, including chemistry, hematology, microbiology culture plating, and serology/immunology.
Completes annual competency assessment.
Alters or adjusts methods and procedures for the neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.
Notifies ordering provider, charge nurse and/or patient of all critical lab results.
Operates, calibrates, conducts performance checks, and maintains clinical laboratory instruments or equipment and documents results.
Recognizes and corrects basic instrument malfunctions as able, initiates service call when needed.
Performs and records all quality control procedures required for the tests assayed. Recognizes and responds to unacceptable quality control results. Notifies Laboratory Supervisor of unacceptable results and steps taken to resolve. Documents all corrective actions implemented.
Observes established safety measures and Standard Precautions. Assists in preparing, reviewing and revising policies and procedures.
Participates in continuing education.
Complies with policies, procedures and documentation requirements to meet the standards of accrediting and/or regulatory agencies.
Consults Laboratory Supervisor and/or Pathologist regarding unusual results.
Demonstrates professionalism, competency and appropriate demeanor with patients and all TVHC Employees
Requirements:
MLT or MLS - ASCP (The American Society of Clinical Pathology), NCA (National Credentialing Agency for Laboratory Personnel) or AMT certification required or eligible for certification within 3 months of hire date
Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
Good interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, families, and all health care professionals and TVHC staff
Basic knowledge in computer use; including word processing and spreadsheet applications
Excellent organizational skills
Ability to maintain and follow guidelines set for standards of practice in quality patient care, and infection control practices as required by state, federal, and hospital policy/regulation.
Valid Driver License
