The Medical Technologist (ASCP) performs accurate, precise, and timely patient test results for the diagnosis and management of human illness. Utilizes automation, computerization, and manual methods. Responsible for quality control and instrument operation, maintenance and troubleshooting.
Position handles blood, tissue, fecal matter, sputum, urine, spinal fluid and other bodily fluids. Specimens may be contaminated with infectious diseases including HIV and other blood borne pathogens.
**Responsibilities And Duties:**
- 55% Critical thinking, academic theory, facilitation/leadership abilities, and advanced customer service skills. Examples include but are not limited to: The performance of complex analysis of all body fluids and tissues. Determining the reliability of all analytic data before releasing as patient measurement for diagnosis and treatment. Interpreting information to make judgmental decisions and troubleshooting technical procedure and instruments. Utilizing knowledge of medical correlation of data, laboratory parameters, physiologic factors, medication effects, and specific medical treatments to assess the validity of laboratory data. Using appropriate testing techniques to evaluate new testing methodologies and practices. Demonstrating safety and infection control practices. Assist in gathering test data for evaluation of new methods and installation of equipment.
- 15% Customer service to clinicians and clients. Must be comfortable and professional on the telephone, able to communicate with physician office staff, clinical staff, and all laboratory associates. Must be able to communicate with patients and their families, using service recovery when necessary.
- 20% Quality assurance functions and equipment maintenance functions. Performs quality control checks on each procedure, equipment, reagents, stains, etc. Documents and interprets all QC data used by technologists to determine validity of patient results and verify instrument performance. Documents and reviews maintenance logs to assure optimum system performance, guaranteeing valid data and eliminating costly, time-consuming equipment failures.
- 5% Continuing Education and Competencies. Remains current in field. Trains new employees and students. Maintains competencies, mandatory educational requirements (ACE).
- 5% Miscellaneous duties. Performs miscellaneous duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Associate's degree in a related Allied Health discipline; Bachelor's degree preferred. Two years of experience and special certified training in Medical Laboratory Technology required. MT or MLS (ASCP) certification required. Higher education teaching experience preferred. Exhibit excellent English, communication, and writing skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) with strong computer and related technology skills required. Demonstrate the ability to work independently and complete projects with minimal direction and oversight. Any combination of work experience, training, and/or education equivalent may be accepted. Willingness to work an irregular schedule as assigned. Candidate must successfully pass a background check, prior to and after employment. Valid driver's license or dependable transportation required.

The role contributes directly to high-quality, hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for success in fire service, emergency medical services, and public safety careers.
Primary Responsibilities

Lab Preparation, Maintenance, & Safety
* Prepare, set up, and dismantle training props, materials, and equipment for fire, rescue, and EMS labs.
* Inspect, clean, and maintain tools, apparatus, and facilities to ensure safe and functional operation.
* Test and service oxygen systems, fire-ground props, and other pressurized or specialized training equipment following established safety procedures.
* Maintain inventory, track supplies, and report repair or replacement needs.
* Operate college vehicles and hand or power tools as required for training-site setup and material transport.

The Medical Concierge/Technician serves a dual role, combining the expertise of a veterinary technician with the service-oriented responsibilities of a medical concierge. This position supports the clinical pathology service by evaluating sample quality and submission information to ensure diagnostic quality before pathologist review using a robotic microscope remotely. The Medical Concierge/Technician also evaluates select technician-appropriate samples, such as blood smears. The ideal applicant will be a certified Veterinary technician with a Veterinary Technician Specialty (VTS) in Clinical Pathology.
Key Responsibilities:
The candidate will be available for sample evaluation during their scheduled shifts, which may include evenings and weekends.
The candidate will assess the diagnostic quality of the sample slide and submission information in a timely manner (~15 minutes).

Uphold laboratory standards for accuracy, reliability, and turnaround time.
Assist in troubleshooting sample quality and assessment issues, performing and recommending corrective actions as needed.
Contribute to a supportive, team-oriented work environment by sharing knowledge, assisting colleagues, and fostering collaboration in a remote setting.

Minimum Basic Qualifications:
The successful candidate will need to be a certified Veterinary technician, ideally with a Veterinary Technician Specialty (VTS) in Clinical Pathology
Have direct access to reliable, high-speed internet (>50Mbps download, >5Mbps upload).
Be proficient with common digital communication platforms (Teams, etc.)
Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.
