REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: Associate degree in a laboratory science or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution OR transcripts showing 60 semester hours from an accredited institution with transcripts indicating 24 semester hours of medical laboratory technology courses or 24 semester hours of science courses that include 6 semester hours in chemistry, 6 semester hours of biology, and 12 semester hours of chemistry, biology, or medical laboratory technology in any combination OR meet an alternate qualification route for High Complexity Testing Personnel as detailed in 42 CFR subpart M §493.1489. Skills: N/A Years of Experience: Completion of a clinical laboratory training program approved or accredited by the ABHES, the CAHEA, or other organization approved by HHS, OR at least 3 months of full-time experience across all lab disciplines, OR an alternate experience route for High Complexity Testing Personnel as detailed in 42 CFR subpart M §493.1489. License: N/A Certification: American Society of Pathology (ASCP) MLT eligible at time of hire with certification achieved within one year of hire. Education and Experience * The knowledge, skills and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of an associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or in a chemical, physical or biological science and completion of an AMT. NAACLS, ASCP, or ABHES-accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program. * Certification as a technician by an appropriate accrediting agency i.e., ASCP,AMT, HEW/HHS or equivalent is required within one year of graduation or hire. * One year related medical laboratory experience preferred. * Candidate must qualify as testing personnel for high and moderate complexity testing as defined under CFR.493.1489 and CFR.493.1423 respectively and qualify as a CLIA General Supervisor for high complexity testing as defined under CFR 493.1461 when assigned those duties.
