Job Summary and Qualifications
Cardiac Cath Lab Tech's demonstrate knowledge of human growth and development, assessment, range of treatment, and care of patients served. They are able to scrub and assist the physician during diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral angiographic studies. Additionally, they are responsible for recording and monitoring these cases, as well as understanding hemodynamic measurements and valve area readings.
What You Will Do in This Role
Assist physicians during interventional cardiovascular procedures, including scrubbing and sterile field setup.
Administer contrast media and medications according to age- and weight-specific guidelines and within regulatory scope.
Start and maintain IV access; monitor patients before, during, and after procedures, reporting any abnormalities.
Prepare patients by reviewing their medical history, positioning them, and prepping procedure sites.
Operate and maintain imaging and lab equipment; report malfunctions and follow lock/tag-out procedures when necessary.
Accurately document procedures in Meditech and verify imaging in PACS.
Interpret and report test results, recognizing and correcting artifacts or recording errors.
Handle and dispose of radioactive waste in compliance with safety regulations.
Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant lab environment.
Collaborate with the healthcare team to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality patient care.
What Qualifications You Will Need
Candidates must have one of the following:
Current license or registry certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), or the ability to obtain this certification prior to hire.
OR Current license or registry from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology and certification through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as a Registered Radiologic Technologist RT(R) .
Additional requirements:
BLS certification required.
Completion of ACLS training within six months of hire.
Strong interpersonal skills to successfully interact with patients, guests, physicians, and other employees.
Minimum of one year of experience working in Special Procedures or Interventional Radiology.
Willing to help support interventional radiology as needed, cross trained provided.
Willing to work on a PRN basis and availability to provide call coverage, as needed.
New graduates of RCIS programs will also be considered.
Ability to work PRN (as needed) with a requirement of either two shifts per month, two call shifts per month, or a combination of both. Call shifts are from 5 p.m. to 7 a.m. on weekdays and 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekends, with one summer and one winter holiday commitment.

Overview

Supervises the observance and obtainment of information from all relevant sources. Supervises scheduling of events and inspections to ensure completion of all work activities. Coordinates with upper management, peers, and subordinates to facilitate equitable workload dissemination.
Reviews and documents findings from surveys or investigations to ensure accurate information is used in decision making. Maintains documentation to ensure the legal defensibility of compliance decisions and safeguards medical records in accordance with agency directives and state and federal laws.
Uses relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards. Verifies credentials to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
Assesses problem areas within a facility that require enforcement proceedings, as required. Analyzes information and evaluates results to determine if the laboratory's response is acceptable to ensure compliance, as required.
Explains details of investigations and reviews by testifying under oath to judges, district attorneys, grand juries, or commissioners in depositions, court, and/or at departmental or regulatory board hearings.
Maintains current Medical Laboratory Technologist license issued by TN Dept. of Health to ensure compliance with state regulations. Maintains and integrates technical knowledge to enhance job performance.

What Qualifications You Will Need
Required: One of the following:
A current license or certification as a Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) or Registered Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist (RCES) from CCI.
OR A current license or certification as a Registered Radiologic Technologist RT(R) from an accredited School of Radiologic Technology and ARRT.
Preferred:
Experience in special procedures, thrombectomy, and neuro.
Minimum of one year of experience in a Cath Lab or EP Lab.
Other Requirements:
BLS certification is required, and ACLS training must be completed within six months of hire.
Strong interpersonal skills are necessary for effective communication with patients and staff.
New graduates from RCIS programs will be considered.

Overview
Under general supervision, is responsible for professional medical technology consulting work of average difficulty; and performs related work as required. This is the entry working class in the Medical Technologist Cons sub-series. An employee in this class conducts on-site laboratory surveys relative to issuance and maintenance of licensure for hospitals and state laboratory facilities, surveys training schools for medical laboratory trainees, and appears in court or at hearings as an expert witness. This class differs from that of Medical Technologist Cons 2 in that an incumbent of the latter is responsible for directing the laboratory licensing service.
Responsibilities
Uses relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards. Analyzes information and evaluates results to determine if the laboratory's response is acceptable to ensure compliance, as required.
Provides summation to facility of survey findings, including corrective actions required, to meet compliance. Provides factual and authoritative information regarding state and federal laws.
Documents findings from surveys or investigations to ensure accurate information is used in decision making, as required. Maintains documentation to ensure the legal defensibility of compliance decisions.
Explains details of investigations and reviews by testifying under oath to judges, district attorneys, grand juries, or commissioners in depositions, court, and/or at departmental or regulatory board hearings.
Maintains current Medical Laboratory Technologist license issued by TN Dept. of Health to ensure compliance with state regulations. Maintains and integrates technical knowledge to enhance job performance.
Communicates with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources. Maintains professional working relationships with peer groups and organizations.
Assists in training newly hired employees in the laboratory inspection process, as needed.
