About the Role The Medical Technologist is responsible for performing moderate and high complexity testing. Analyzes, reviews, and reports test results and quality control results and takes remedial action when indicated. Accurately enters all required information presented on CPL or client specific requisitions into the laboratory information system. Understands and recognizes laboratory information system alerts and flags and takes the appropriate actions. Recognizes when information presented on requisitions is unclear and ambiguous and knows and follows corrective actions to be taken. Participates in departmental quality assurance practices. May act as a resource to others who require assistance/training. Follows all departmental policies and procedures related to data entry. Recognizes personal limitations and seeks guidance from supervisors or managers when needed. Enthusiastically performs miscellaneous duties with completion in a designated time frame. EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: • MLT-Associates of Applied Science in Medical Laboratory Technology. • MT-Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology or Chemical, Biological, or Physical Science. • Preferred - Certified in Clinical Laboratory Science by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) or equivalent. • Minimum - One year of laboratory training or experience or both in a laboratory performing high complexity testing required. • Preferred - Two years of laboratory training or experience or both in high complexity testing within specialty. Job Responsibilities: Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving. Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary Assist with processing of specimens when needed Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment Requirements: Associate's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or non-traditional Associate's degree that meets local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements Previous clinical laboratory testing experience is highly preferred ASCP or AMT certification is preferred Ability to work independently and within a team environment Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs If you're looking for a career that offers opportunities for growth, continual development, professional challenge and the chance to make a real difference, apply today!
