What You'll Do
As a Surgical Veterinary Technician, you'll work closely with five board-certified surgeons, surgical residents, and interns. This role involves managing all aspects of surgical nursing-from patient intake and diagnostics to anesthesia, surgical assistance, and post-op recovery.
In this role, you will:
Assist with anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
Support soft tissue, orthopedic, laparoscopic, and neurosurgeries
Prepare surgical patients and maintain sterile technique in the OR
Perform post-operative care, treatments, and documentation
Collaborate with DVMs, residents, and the surgical support team to provide top-tier care
Communicate compassionately with clients and ensure patients are treated with kindness, dignity, and professionalism

The Medical Laboratory Scientist I, in their role as Testing Personnel as defined by CLIA, are responsible for specimen processing, test performance and for reporting waived and non-waived test results. Under general supervision, each individual performs only those tests that are authorized by the laboratory manager and require a degree of skill commensurate with the individual's education, training or experience, and technical abilities.
Essential Functions
-As outlined by CLIA, after successful completion of orientation, training and competency assessment on all instruments/methods applicable to their role:
-Follow the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
-Maintain records that demonstrate that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.
-Adhere to the laboratory's quality control policies, document all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.
-Follow the laboratory's established corrective action policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance.
-Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either must correct the problems or immediately notify the general supervisor, technical consultant, technical supervisor, clinical consultant or director
-Document all corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.

TheMedical Laboratory Scientist/Clinical Laboratory Scientist IIIindependently performs a variety of diagnostic tests in the Clinical Laboratory to obtain data for use in the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
This is a 40-hour per week, benefitted, day-shift position. This position is required to work rotating weekends and holidays.
We are offering a $7500 sign-on/retention bonus for this position. *The bonus is available for external hires only and certain conditions apply.
Responsibilities
* Demonstrates the knowledge, skills and ability to perform a variety of laboratory tests in a timely manner yielding accurate and precise results with a low error rate.
* Ability to appropriately troubleshoot and resolve problems. Ensures that patient results are not reported until systems are functioning correctly. Clearly communicates resolutions or next steps.
* Possesses solid knowledge, skills and theory to perform job duties in the clinical laboratory.
* Performs and evaluates quality control and instrument function checks using established quality control practices to assess the functioning of the test system(s). Identifies when a QC problem exists and can troubleshoot and resolve issues promptly.
* Operates and maintains laboratory equipment according to established laboratory procedures and/or manufacturers recommendations, including keeping supplies. Identifies when sample, instrument, and/or procedural problems exists and takes appropriate actions to remedy the issue.
* Can troubleshoot problems and communicate resolutions or next steps appropriately.
* Orients and trains new laboratory staff. Trains bench personnel when new procedures or systems are put into routine use. Trains MLS or MLT/CLT students in bench procedures, basic theory, and advanced skills. Helps develop teaching and training tools.
* Actively participates in the D-HH member’s laboratory's continuing education program.
* Assist in outpatient/in-patient phlebotomies, specimen processing, non-patient registration, and requisition checks, as needed. Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to determine phlebotomy technique appropriate for the age and condition of the patient.
* Demonstrates knowledge of and acts in accordance with all hospital safety requirements
* Performs other duties as required or assigned.
Qualifications
* AS degree and minimum of 4 years of Clinical Laboratory experience or Bachelor's of Science Degree and minimum of 2 years of Clinical Laboratory experience.
* Minimum of 2 years of relevant technical experience required.
* Ability to work independently and adhere to deadlines and manage changing volumes. Basic knowledge of computer software systems.

Identifies when a QC problem exists and is able to troubleshoot and resolve issues in a timely manner. Is able to establish a quality control program, execute this plan within regulatory requirements and monitor test performance. Can clearly communicate the steps taken to correct issues and help others understand the process.
