Lead OOS/OOT investigations, CAPAs, and ensure timely completion of corrective actions.
Ensure laboratory equipment, methods, and environments meet GMP, FDA, ISO, and customer standards.
Maintain audit readiness and support internal, external, and customer audits.
Coach, train, and mentor laboratory staff; ensure training requirements are completed and documented.
Support process improvements, change control, and validation activities (IQ/OQ/PQ).
Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Program teams on customer-related quality topics.
Promote a strong Safety First, compliant, and efficient lab culture.
The experience we're looking to add to our team:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

PURPOSE
Under general supervision and following established laboratory procedures, performs routine medical laboratory tests for the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of disease. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for specimen processing, test performance, and for reporting test results.
Arranges for pickup or delivery of specimens sent to reference lab or outside lab.

Adheres to the laboratory's quality control policies and documents all quality control activities, instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance performed.

Recognizes alert/critical test results, informs appropriate personnel and documents.
Communicates information such as test results, normal ranges, and specimen requirements to authorized sources.
Demonstrates technical laboratory skills to students and new employees.
Assures that all remedial actions are taken whenever test systems deviate from the laboratory's established performance specifications.
Ensures that patient test results are not reported until all corrective actions have been taken and the test system is properly functioning.
Responsible for administering testing according to policies and procedures.
Responsible for applying Total Quality Management (TQM) guidelines to laboratory processes.
Adheres to all company policies, including but not limited to, OSHA, HIPAA, compliance and Code of Conduct.
Regular and dependable attendance.

SERVICES:

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Is expected to use independent technical judgment to analyze and interpret laboratory results.
Will perform, evaluate, interpret, correlate, and validate the accuracy of laboratory procedures and results.
Requires a broad exercise of independent judgment and responsibility with minimal technical supervision.
Will be required to monitor quality control systems and measures.
Requires the ability to interpret and apply complex written instructions.
Must utilize basic knowledge of laboratory equipment and be able to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair instrumentation.
May need to resolve problems encountered in the laboratory.
Must be able to communicate, consult, and interact with other members of the healthcare team, external relations, customer service, and patient education.
Will perform a broad range of laboratory procedures, including advanced and complex laboratory procedures. Must be able to recognize deviation from expected results and use scientific principles to analyze and correct problems.
Evaluate and solve problems related to collection and processing of biological specimens for analysis accounting for physiologic processes and requirements.

Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a master's degree in clinical/medical laboratory science or closely related field; active and current ASCP BOC certification as a medical laboratory scientist MLS(ASCP) CM (or other professional certification recognized by the department); at least 3 years of full-time employment experience as a clinical/medical laboratory scientist; and evidence of current competence and ongoing professional development in clinical/medical laboratory science. We strongly encourage candidates with doctorate in clinical laboratory science (DCLS), PhD in clinical/medical laboratory science or related field; higher education teaching experience; national certification as a specialist in a CLS/MLS discipline; advanced certification in online teaching; proven familiarity with NAACLS accreditation; accreditation experience in laboratory science education; active in professional organizations; employment experience within multiple disciplines in the CLS/MLS field; passion to work with first-generation students, and the ability to teach in multiple disciplines that complement our program.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field; or equivalent experience (4+ years above minimum qualifications).
Experience: Less than one year of post-graduate lab experience required; new grads with certification are encouraged to apply.
Certification: Must hold one or more valid certifications from one of the following organizations:
American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP)
American Medical Technologists (AMT)
American Board of Histocompatibility (ABHI)
American Association of Bioanalysts (AAB)
Or be a grandfathered HEW licensee
Strong technical skills in laboratory protocols, critical thinking, and statistical analysis.
Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment.
Proficiency with lab-related software and electronic health systems.
Solid understanding of infection control and lab safety practices.

PURPOSE
Under the direct supervision of a technical or general supervisor, processes laboratory specimens and may perform some testing. Maintains appropriate documentation of testing and patient test results. Maintains inventory of laboratory supplies and performs some clerical functions. Works with computers and specialized equipment. Carries out all duties while maintaining compliance and confidentiality and promoting the mission and philosophy of the organization.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Follows the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and processing, test analyses, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
Demonstrates knowledge of and follows universal precautions.
Utilizes computer information systems and specialized equipment.
Adheres to organization and governmental standards, rules and regulations.
Promotes good customer service by demonstrating appropriate telephone etiquette.
Performs waived testing with supervisory discretion.
Performs clerical duties.
Adheres to all company policies, including but not limited to, OSHA, HIPAA, compliance and Code of Conduct.
Regular and dependable attendance.

OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintains cleanliness of laboratory.
Initiates assistance to co-workers and customers.
Maintains inventory of laboratory supplies.

Follows the quality control policies and procedures of the laboratory to ensure validity of patient test results.
Follows the laboratory's established corrective action policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the laboratory's established acceptable levels of performance and documents according to laboratory procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience
Required: High school diploma or GED. Bachelor of Science degree or ASCP medical laboratory assistant certification and Associate's degree.
Preferred: Clinical specimen processing experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of factors that influence test results.
Familiarity with laboratory environment and medical terminology.
Ability to interact professionally with physicians, nurses, and all levels of staff.
Ability to engage others, listen and adapt response to meet others' needs.

Excellent computer and keyboarding skills, including familiarity with Windows.

Job Responsibilities:
Determine the acceptability of specimens for testing according to established criteria
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures
Monitor, operate and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality
Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
Prepare, test and evaluate new reagents or controls
Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care
Perform and document preventive maintenance and quality control procedures
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary
Assist with processing of specimens when needed
Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or a non-traditional Bachelor's degree that meets local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements
Minimum 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience is required OR an MLS degree
ASCP or AMT certification is preferred
Ability to work independently and within a team environment
Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs
