About the Role
Our client is seeking a hands-on Lab Technician to support the engineering team with soldering, PCB rework, and lab operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys detailed, technical work and can manage multiple tasks in a dynamic lab environment. The position will be part-time (20 hours per week) onsite in Chandler, AZ, with potential for extension based on business needs.
Key Responsibilities
Perform soldering and PCB rework, with emphasis on QFN package rework.
Create and organize kits, box parts, and prepare materials for internal lab use.
Manage and track shipments (internal movement, not direct shipping).
Track and coordinate calibration equipment (pickups, deliveries, and status tracking).
Maintain basic Excel spreadsheets for inventory, calibration, and shipment tracking.
Support general lab organization, equipment maintenance, and process documentation.
Required Qualifications
1-3 years of hands-on lab or soldering/ assembly experience.
Soldering skills, especially with small components (e.g., 0204s).
Some understanding of QFN rework experience or demonstrated ability to handle fine-pitch soldering.
Familiarity with Microsoft 365 and Excel for basic data entry and tracking shipment
Able to track and coordinate calibration equipment (pickups, deliveries, and status tracking).
Ability to learn and adapt to new tools and lab workflows quickly.
Must enjoy helping other depts and teams on slower days

The Medical Education Virtual Skills Lab Technician is a hands-on, highly independent contributor who ensures XR-enabled medical skills labs are operationally ready, resilient, and reliable every day.

physical, kinetic work, someone who thinks like a road crew professional: loading in, resetting, and troubleshooting complex technology environments so faculty and students can focus on learning medicine, not managing equipment. The role directly supports the emerging John Shufeldt School of Medicine and Medical Engineering, where AR and MR are core delivery modalities, and it will evolve in tandem with faculty, students, and the curriculum as the program matures.

Essential Duties:
Daily Virtual Skills Lab Readiness: Prepare skills labs for instruction each day by charging, staging, configuring, sanitizing, and testing equipment, including XR headsets, controllers, haptics, computing, and A/V systems to ensure a “ready-to-teach” environment.
Virtual Skills Lab Operations & Live Support: Set up, operate, and troubleshoot Virtual Skills Lab systems during labs and courses; provide real-time assistance with headset fitting, controller use, boundary issues, connectivity, and battery swaps.
Load‑In / Load‑Out Execution: Perform frequent physical setup and teardown of Virtual Skills Labs, including cable management, device transport, space and equipment resets, and rapid room turnover between sessions.
Independent Problem Solving: Diagnose and resolve technical issues quickly and calmly in high-stakes instructional settings; document issues and escalate when needed to minimize instructional disruption.
Faculty Enablement: Partner with faculty to operationalize Virtual Skills Lab instructional plans; provide brief orientations, quick-reference guides, and just-in-time support without assuming instructional design responsibilities.
Device & Asset Management: Maintain accurate inventories of Virtual Skills Lab hardware, peripherals, licenses, and configurations; manage device profiles and app deployments using enterprise device management tools (e.g., Intune, Meta HMS).
Maintenance & Vendor Coordination: Perform routine maintenance, initiate and track warranty or vendor repairs, and coordinate updates and replacements to ensure operational continuity.
Safety, Hygiene & Compliance: Enforce lab safety, infection control, FERPA/HIPAA privacy practices, and Virtual Skills Lab user safety protocols (including motion-sickness monitoring and sanitation standards).
Continuous Improvement: Track readiness metrics (uptime, failures, turnaround time); identify operational improvements; assist with small pilots of emerging XR, AI, and haptic tools.
Community Participation: Support recruitment events, research activities, student experiences, and other medical school functions as needed.
Leverage AI in routine tasks and contribute ideas for using AI to improve the unit's efficiency and overall performance.
Take responsibility for fostering a positive culture, upholding organizational values, and championing engagement in all its forms.
Collaborate across teams and actively participate in ET/ASU events and programs.

Experience supporting XR, simulation, A/V, or hands-on technical environments.

General Description
The MLS/MLT is responsible for the collection, processing and analysis of laboratory specimens and reporting of results in all areas of the clinical laboratory. Maintains laboratory records and quality control practices. This position is Baylor and works 6:00am-6:00pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Essential Job Duties
Specimen collection and processing, test performance, reporting and maintaining records of patient test results in accordance with lab policies and procedures
Maintain records that demonstrate PT (Proficiency Tests) are performed in the same manner as patient specimens
Adhere to lab QC (Quality Control) policies, document all QC activities, instrument and procedure calibrations and maintenance performed
Follow lab's established policies and procedures whenever test systems are not within the lab's established acceptable levels of performance
Be capable of identifying problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of test results and either correct the problems or immediately notify supervisory personnel, the laboratory manager or laboratory director
Document all corrective actions when test systems deviate from the lab's established performance specifications
Other (Non-Essential) Job Duties
Review and assist in maintaining inventory levels
Provide training to medical laboratory and phlebotomy students
Minimum Qualifications
Technologist/Scientist: Bachelors of Science degree in Medical Technology, Biology or Chemistry with MT/MLS/CLS certification by either ASCP, HEW or AMT; BS required for Lead position
Technician: Associate degree or education and training equivalent to an Associate degree in Medical Technology, Biology or Chemistry with MLT/CLT certification by either ASCP, HEW or AMT

Position Summary
The Laboratory Aide is responsible for supporting the department with all clerical and ancillary duties in opening and handling clinical cases for patient output. The Laboratory Aide works cross-functionally and supports the following departments: Accessioning and Block Returns. The Laboratory Aide primary functions include: perform video receipt of incoming specimens (i.e. opening of packages containing patient samples and paperwork), package send-outs, flat slides for Accessioning to process, retrieve cases for Accessioning to activate, transport cases between departments, and perform various audit related tasks (audits trash, biohazard bins, shred bins, etc.). While maintaining job functions, the Laboratory Aide is to progress in their learning of the regulations (CLIA, CAP and NYS) in which the laboratory functions. This position works under the direction of the Supervisor and follows standard laboratory procedures and policies.
Job Responsibilities
Perform Video Receipt of incoming specimens - opening packages and organizing specimens and associated documents for clinical processing.
Responsible for packaging send-outs for Block Returns and documents every specimen shipped out via the video receipt detail camera.
Ensure proper audit and disposal of biohazardous material.
Responsible for disposal of trash in accessioning after verifying trash does not contain any patient sample or information.
Transport cases between departments as needed (departments include Lab Operations, IHC, and PA's).
Responsible for flatting out slides for Accessioning to process in a specific chronological order which will require careful handling and strong attention to detail.
File cases in proper activation date order at various staging areas throughout the laboratory.
Work cross-functionally with various departments including Accessioning and Block Returns.
Maintains diagnostic viability of all specimens.
Thoroughly document case activities within the Laboratory Information System (LIS) and SharePoint database when necessary.
Responsible for following defined protocols.
Responsible for identifying and utilizing resources to overcome challenges. Resources include documentation (SOPs, Job Aids, etc.) and human resources (peers, trainers, and leaders).
Assists as needed to perform other related duties and special projects to support the laboratory as required.
Accepts other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.

Able to work Tuesday-Friday 9am-1pm and Saturdays 11am-3pm.

Physical Demands
Will be standing most of the time performing package opening and trash QC. Must possess ability to sit and/or stand for long periods of time.
Will use office equipment such as copiers and video receipt cameras.
Visual acuity and analytical skill to distinguish fine detail. Ability to pass a visual color discrimination test.
Manual dexterity to use common laboratory equipment and perform sterile techniques as required.
Must possess ability to perform repetitive motion.
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds.
May have exposure to high noise levels in the data center, fumes and bio-hazardous material in the lab environment. Exposure to formaldehyde, xylene, DAB and alcohol which emit fumes. The formaldehyde, xylene, and DAB are carcinogenic.
May be required to handle blood-borne pathogens and general laboratory reagents.
May have exposure to extreme temperatures, high noise levels, fumes and biohazardous material/chemicals including formalin in the lab environment.

Job Summary
Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is seeking a Laboratory Specialist Supervisor (Exhibits Curator) to join our Center for Native and Urban Wildlife (CNUW) team. The CNUW Laboratory Specialist Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operation of CNUW facilities and the daily care and management of the living collections of the Center and Life Science Department. The collections include native reptiles, endangered fish, amphibians, and invertebrates, plants, aquariums, ponds, and wildlife gardens. The living collections are used for laboratory courses, undergraduate research, citizen science, elementary education programs, and for community outreach.
The Laboratory Specialist Supervisor maintains the appearance and function of public exhibits including an outdoor reptile enclosure, ponds, and plants in the wildlife demonstration gardens, as well naturalistic indoor exhibits of the Center, and freshwater and marine aquariums, plants and invertebrates used in biology labs. This position assists with education by engaging with visitors to the Center, giving occasional public presentations, providing guidance on student projects, and collaborating with the Center's off-campus partners and CNUW staff. The Laboratory Specialist Supervisor trains and supervises student activities with hands-on experiences working with the living collections, which requires daily supervision of employees, volunteers, Federal Work-Study students, and service-learning students. This position manages CNUW's administrative duties of purchasing, maintaining inventories, record keeping, evaluating worker performance, and annual reporting to State & Federal agencies for keeping captive wildlife (including endangered and threatened species), along with developing animal care protocol and handling guidelines.

Essential Functions
35% - Oversees the daily operation of the living collections for the Life Sciences Department's Center for Native and Urban Wildlife, which is open to the public and contains over 50 species of reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates (including venomous species). Develops, implements and provides daily care (i.e. feeding, watering, cleaning) of animals and exhibits; formulates and prepares numerous animal diets and establishes feeding schedules; monitors health and behavior of animals, and handles medical care; maintains feeder insect colonies; designs naturalistic exhibits; maintains cleanliness of area in and surrounding the Center; on-call 24-7 for emergencies that would include water supply shut-downs or A/C failure in areas where animals are housed.
35% - Plans, assigns, and supervises, the work of staff and volunteers at the Center, including part-time workers, federal work study, student/community volunteers, interns, and service learning students; trains and evaluates workers; assists with coordinating, developing, directing and supervising student citizen science projects, service learning and undergraduate research projects, and assisting with on and off campus outreach events; interacts with visitors to the center by communicating educational material and answering questions.
20% - Maintains and monitors aquariums, ponds, and gardens used by biology courses. Aquarium maintenance of 7 tanks includes fresh and saltwater fish, plants, and invertebrate species; develops, implements, and provides daily care such as feeding; conducts routine water changes; prepares and maintains correct salinity of water; monitors water chemistry; removes algae; keeps equipment like pumps, skimmers and lights in working order. The Campus Wildlife Demonstration Gardens are used by multiple SCC Biology courses and include over 100 Sonoran Desert plant species, ponds (including endangered species), and rainwater harvesting and raised plant beds that are used to grow food for the Center's animals. Ensures that plants receive sufficient water and communicates with Facilities to fix problems with drip lines; removes weeds; prunes plants away from paths. Pond maintenance includes several ponds containing endangered fish populations, educational signage, and endangered plants; removes algae and unwanted species; prunes and monitors surrounding vegetation, monitors water chemistry and equipment of ponds; maintains cleanliness of areas surrounding ponds.
10% - Maintains records and database information including visitor counts, volunteer hours, and State and Federal permit requirements; develops and maintains standard operating procedures; develops and maintains educational signage; ensures compliance with animal handling and other safety procedures; reviews inventory needs and purchases equipment and supplies; maintains purchase records. Other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervises full-time regular staff including conducting performance evaluations, coordinating training, and implementing hiring, discipline and termination procedures.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Receives general supervision on routine items which are performed according to established standards and procedures and receives specific work instruction regarding non-routine matters and deadlines.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate's degree from a regionally accredited institution, four years of directly related full-time experience such as providing assistance to students in an instructional setting; and/or preparing, maintaining and delivering equipment, supplies or other related instructional materials used for laboratory activities including two years of lead work or senior level experience.
OR
An equivalent combination of the conferred degree and directly related full-time work experience as described above sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation, may be considered.
Desired Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or higher in a Biologically related field with coursework and/or field/research experience in organismal Biology
* Demonstrated experience handling, transporting, and caring for reptiles (including gila monsters), amphibians, desert insects and arachnids (including scorpions, spiders and cockroaches)
